pkgsrc dfly-pkg-people
Hi, I have a pkgsrc bug report with fixes currently sitting in gnats. The responsible field has been changed to dfly-pkg-people. Is there any real person behind this name ? What should I do to have the patches committed ? I figured I should ask first here before going to one of the pkgsrc lists... -- Francois Tigeot

Re: intermediate snapshots
:I looked at /home/@@0x00032c8cabed, which is about halfway between two :adjacent links in the /var/hammer/home directory. If I had changed files :before and after that time, what would I see? : :Pierre :-- :li ze te'a ci vu'u ci bi'e te'a mu du :li ci su'i ze te'a mu bi'e vu'u ci Well, you don't really know what other transaction ids might be between those two links that might be associated with other files and directories, so the snapshot you see might not be quite what you expect. For the particular file or directory in question if there are two transaction ids A and B and you access one that is half way inbetween, aka ((A + B) / 2), you will most like just get the same snapshot as if you had selected B. -Matt Matthew Dillon dil...@backplane.com
Re: What does HAMMER UPGRADE flag means during hammer cleanup
: :Hmm. I got a message telling me to run cleanup when I upgraded. Perhaps, since :the newly installed filesystem had no snapshots, it had no snapshot metadata? : :Pierre Yah, that might be it. In anycase, I'm not going to worry about it if it is just a one-time thing. -Matt Matthew Dillon dil...@backplane.com

That's a shame :-( I only need someone to commit the patches in pkg/43879. They are really short and to the point (about 4 lines of changes). -- Francois Tigeot
DragonFly 2.8 release engineering update - branched!
We have finally branched 2.8. The offical release will be in about 1.5 weeks. We need to build packages (which will take about a week) and we will also continue to fix bugs and bring them into the release branch before we roll the ISOs and IMGs. -Matt
Suggestion for hammer cleanup
I think we definitely must have hammer cleanup not depending on periodic. Especially laptop/workstation users, since they may be running only couple of hours a day. The system should be able to automatically initiate hammer cleanup whenever it's been more than 1 day/x hours since last time it was run. It doesn't matter if its day or night. Suggestions? Petr
