presently we don't have any xorg.tgz binary package for installing
xorg and handling dependencies. xorg installation with
automatic-handling of dependencies is only possible from source using
pkgsrc. so i want permission to update the Wiki page:

Ok, let's try this...Make /etc/make.conf only have this line in it:
WANT_GCC41=yes
Then rebuild your sources.
YIPPEYAA. it works :-)
# setenv CCVER gcc41
# cc --version
gives gcc 4.1.2 :-)
It's too hard to figure out what is

i wanted to voice-chat with my friends. had anybody able to compile
and run Ekiga sucessfully ?
Ekiga is not in ports but i think it is a better alternative than Skype as:
1.) we don't need to run Linux emulation binaries as source code is
available under GPL.
2.) a much older version 2.0.4 of
as advised on this mailing list. i added this line in /etc/mk.conf:
WANT_GCC41=yes
i also noted that /usr/lib has 2 directories: gcc34 and gcc41 and on
my newly installed 1.8.1 release, gcc --version gave gcc 3.4. so i
fetched the sources using cvsup using my 1.8-release supfile. then i

It downloads the DragonFly sourcecode to your computer so that you can
compile it. If you have a slow connection you might want to download a
compressed tarball of the sources instead of using cvsup. You can
download tarballs from here:

i have 1.8.1 release and to rebuild my system, using WANT_GCC41=yes
in /etc/make.conf, i want to get DragonFly sources using CVSUP but i
can't get them. as advised at Wiki:
http://wiki.dragonflybsd.org/index.cgi/QuickStartBSDUser
i did this:
cvsup -h DRAGONFLY-MIRROR
i wanted to have GCC 4.x based DragonFly system (for a C++ project)
and Trevor Kendall advised this:
If you are using 1.8.x:
In /etc/make.conf uncomment WANT_GCC41=yes and rebuild.
If you are using HEAD, it is built automatically already.
To use it set CCVER to gcc41.
