I don't think there should be any problem installing Gecode with glibc 2.8.
Are you using a pre-built binary package? If yes, you may have to install from
the sources.

Gecode seems to require glibc 2.7 which we don't have at the servers we use
for development, so I am wondering if there is some way to do install
Gecode without glibc 2.7? If so, how? We have 2.8 and some other versions
above that as well.
