Jay, you are correct. Creating a PDF from just a portion of a document
would be an enhancement to this feature. But, printing to a PDF printer
driver like CUPS-PDF, Cute PDF, etc. will provide the controls desired.

I suggest you that copy the first page or sheet in a new document and
then export it to PDF. You can solve your current problem and then you
