Bill, If you can't find your issue--please open a bug report against UI. "LO Draw object pasted into Writer document is not retained, auto-save issue?" And provide full details about OS and LibreOffice version and the file formats your are working in. Provide exact steps to reproduce using Draw and Writer. And even to avoid with auto-save turned off. Also, post up some sample documents.
