After all these weeks I finally get a truthful answer from someone who who
seems to know
the truth... Thank you Christian!!!

Hi NoOp and all interested,

the code that was integrated is not in a state that is usable for
a product. Unfortunately I never got the time to finish it. There
is still some work to be done. The wizard would actually be a good
think, despite the fact that I already had it nearly working that
you could embed sound and video using the link dialog.

At this point I can't tell if I will work on this feature again,
but if anyone wants to pick it up I'm willing to give guidance.

Regards,
Christian

So bibi to my dream of replacing MS PP with Impress. I only wish I had the
skill needed to
complete Christian's work on Impress....

My observations about (current) Impress not being fit as a Business solution
seems to have
been upheld (sadly).

I sincerely hope that someone please picks up Impress from where Christain left
off and runs
with it.

Even Impress as it stands is a damn sight better than PP.... it has an
intuitive interface and is
a pleasure to use. Were it not for the fact that it suddenly loses all it's
icon to audio file
(paths) links I would risk using it for any presentation.

While I can't help on the code I would say that if I can assist in testing the
audio issue(s)
please email me.... I would really like to see a resolution.

For what it's worth I suspect there's also some hidden and un-documented
"gallery function"
in Impress.... image and audio (sounds) files appear to be able to be converted
by "a utility"
and then become part of the "gallery" content. I tried to do this with MP3
files but the result
was disaster. For the record what is the native audio file in Impress - .wav or
MP3?

Sincerely

Half-Impressed
