I have not noticed this problem with LO either in 3.3.2 or 3.4.1, I have seen occasionally a similar problem; letters not being shown in text. This problem seems to be an OS rendering problem because it is not limited to LO. An example is 'be ween' for 'between'. Have you seen your problem
