Okay, I more or less solved it myself, by assigning numbering to the
paragraph style use for the contents. It's not elegant or particularly
flexible, but it works.

I work on a lot of CSV files with LO.
With LO saving as a CSV type pads all lines to the same number of fields
with the delimiter, i.e.
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8
a,,,
I then have to edit this and remove the superfluous delimiters.
Alternatively I can use Calligra which saves CSV as
