There you can set the default language for documents (which will be used when
no language is set in the text). But any character of your text can have its
own language setting (think e.g. of translators who write bilinugal texts), so
you should make sure, that the language setting of the character you want to
check really corresponds with the spellchecker language. Even on paragraph
level you can have a certain language setting which overrides the default
setting but is overridden in turn by the setting on character level. (At least
that's how I understand it, though I did not check it for a while.)

 Hi :)
That looks a lot like GnuLinux rather than Bsd?  Which distro?  Ubuntu?
Which version?  Have you upgraded the distro to a different version number
 since last watching the videos?

Have you used a package manager to update everything?  You might need to
install some codecs or something?  In ubuntu it might be worth running
 through the medibuntu guide
 https://help.ubuntu.com/community/Medibuntu
I tend to keep the non-free components but there is a section in there that
can help you remove them if you want to be an OpenSource purist.  You could
try keeping them for now and then remove them another day of course.

Hi all, I have some old presentations made with LO 3.3.3 with some
embedded videos (mpg1 and mpeg2). Until LO 3.4 they work perfect. But
in LO 3.5 the same presentation hangs LO and make it very very
 slo.
Running from console I get this:

 /usr/lib/libdirac_encoder.so.0)

I've tried inserting videos in a new presentation and the same happens.

 Thanks in advance.

[libreoffice-users] LibreOffice 3.5 available from PPA

Hi

As you may know Ubuntu 11.04 archives are compatible with Trisquel 5
(Trisquel being based on Ubuntu 11.04).

Since a few days it's now possible to upgrade to LibreOffice 3.5 via
the Ubuntu PPA for LibreOffice. Keep in mind this isn't designed
specifically for Trisquel so use with caution and read the release
notes if you depend on LibreOffice current version on your system.

Steps to install/upgrading to LibreOffice 3.5 in Trisquel 5:

$ sudo add-apt-repository ppa:libreoffice/ppa
$ sudo apt-get update
$ sudo apt-get install libreoffice libreoffice-gnome

I wasn't involved in any packaging/testing work for this, I just found
out about it and am relaying this here.

Cheers,

[libreoffice-users] Spell check problems

2012-03-06 Thread Edwin Matheson
I want to thank everyone for trying to help me with my spell check
problem. However, I still have the problem. Spell check tells me that
every word in my doc. is spelled wrong. I still have OpenOffice on my
computer and I was able to get into the system (it usually crashes) I
pulled down every window in both OpenOfffice and Libreoffice and
compared all the settings. English (USA) is set everywhere possible in
both systems. Yet, spell check works perfectly in OpenOffice and won't
work at all in Libreoffice.

So I have no choice but to uninstall Libreoffice and look for another
system.

Thanks again for all your help.

As already mentioned, the designer of the form can disable the toolbar.
By default it is enabled. Open the form in edit mode, get the form
properties and enable the navigation bar on the Data tab. In my forms
the toolbar always refers to the main form since I set that property to
Parent Form for all subforms of the main form.

find button 'Form' (on my PC screen it is the fourth button from

that 'Form'-button opens the main form's properties

[libreoffice-users] Subforms in LibreO-Base

2012-03-06 Thread Pertti Rönnberg

Andreas Säger,
In your answer to Sylvain Bromberber (about Table format) you
mentioned that you set /that property to Parent Form for all subforms
of the main form/.
Do you mean that you in LibreO-Base can have two or more subforms in one
main form?

I need to make a main form with a couple of parallell subforms in it (=
both joined to the same field in main form).
The Form Wizard lets you 'produce' a (main) form with /_only one_/
subform in it.
Is it possible to implant a second (and perhaps a third) subform in that
same main form? If so, how?

I tried to do like I used to do in MSAccess but it did not work.
In MSAccess you can have several parallell subforms (e.g. on separate
tabs) and even a main form with a subform in a subform.

(My LibreO is 3.4.5/embedded HSQL/Windows7, 32bit)

Something else disables this toolbar which is essential for using most
database forms.
Find your profile folder. You find the profile folder when you call
ToolsOptionsPaths and watch for the path that looks like
.../LibreOffice/3/user/. The ... depends on your system.

Shut down the office including the quick starter.
Rename that folder.
Then restart the office. It will create a new profile folder as if it
were started for the very first time.

Now you should be able to use all the toolbars.

Problem sort of solved. Looking at the form carefully, I found an odd icon
is the set of options at the bottom of the form at the end. One of these
looked vaguely like the one on your example but slightly different. I
clicked on it and the Table appeared on the top half!! The tool bar etc.
don't look at at all like in your example. No navigation label etc. Just
the icon preceded by filter icons. It makes as much sense as our politics,
except that it works. By the way where are you located? I am in Cambridge,
Massachusetts USA.

Thanks again.

Forms with subforms and list boxes let you edit related data across
table boundaries. This requires that you can build arbitrary complex
hierarchies of forms and subforms, including more than one independent
main form on the same form document.
Just leave behind that stupid form wizard, open the form navigator (5th
button on tool bar Form Design), right-click the Forms icon to add a
new main form or right-click an existing form to add a dependent subform.

Ed,

I haven't been following all the answers give to help you, but wanted to
throw out a couple of my own. You may have already tried these, but if not
they may help.

The problem you describe is not a normal problem. LO normally does spell
check fine so there has to be something in the install or setup that went
wrong so before you jump ship please try the following:

1. Close LO and rename you profile to something else than it is now, reboot
the computer then restart LO Writer. This should put you back to defaults.

2. If #1 didn't help then close LO, rename the profile again and uninstall
LO. Reboot your computer and then reinstall LO, checking the
language/dictionary settings (2 places) during the advanced install.
Hopefully this will give you a normally functioning LO.

Hope this helps.

Cliff

Re: [libreoffice-users] LP Impress 3.5 slow and hungs with video in slides

2012-03-06 Thread Tom Davies
Hi :)
Hmmm, that is weird then.  Errr does Debian have a boot-menu that includes a
Recovery option?  or perhaps better does the package manager have a Fix
broken packages option?  Do you use apt-get?  Apt-get has

sudo apt-get check

which might help.  Sorry i don't really know how to fix this.  It 'should' be
working fine surely.
Apols and regards from
Tom :)

Hi sorry for the lack of info. My system is Debian stable, (squeeze)
amd64. LO was installed using the debs from LO downloads page. I'm
using this system (stable branch) long ago, since LO 3.3

Thanks

2012/3/5 Tom Davies tomdavie...@yahoo.co.uk:

 Tom :)

Hi all, I have some old presentations made with LO 3.3.3 with some
embedded videos (mpg1 and mpeg2). Until LO 3.4 they work perfect. But
in LO 3.5 the same presentation hangs LO and make it very very
 slo.
Running from console I get this:

 (libreoffice:11787): GStreamer-WARNING **: Failed to load plugin
 '/usr/lib/gstreamer-0.10/libgstffmpeg.so':
 /opt/libreoffice3.5/program/../ure-link/lib/libstdc++.so.6: version
 `GLIBCXX_3.4.11' not found (required by
 /usr/lib/libdirac_encoder.so.0)

I've tried inserting videos in a new presentation and the same happens.

 Thanks in advance.

 A.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Table Format

2012-03-06 Thread Dan Lewis
One other suggestion: Tools Options LibreOffice General. Look
in the Help section. Make sure that Tips and Help Agents are checked.
When they are, you can hover the cursor over an icon in a toolbar to get
a pop-up label for it.
Another thing that may help you is the Getting Started with Base
Chapter. The top of page 20 has a screenshot and instructions on how to
open the Form properties dialog. The Navigation bar is the next to the
bottom property.

I don´t think that you are missing anything - sometimes an expert
forgets that what is obvious for him is not necessarily obvious for
  others.
Provided that I got your problem try this:
open your form in edit view = click empty area in the form (= set
  focus on form)
find button 'Form' (on my PC screen it is the fourth button from
up on a vertical toolbar to the left)
that 'Form'-button opens the main form's properties
click 'Data' tab = find 'Navigation bar'
  OK?

every word in my doc. is spelled wrong.

Thanks for the help. I reloaded the program and everything seems to be

work at all in Libreoffice.

So I have no choice but to uninstall Libreoffice and look for another
system.

Thanks again for all your help.

Cliff

[libreoffice-users] were it the restore info in the .libreoffice folder

2012-03-06 Thread webmaster for Kracked Press Productions

Does anyone know where the restore file information is located in the
.libreoffice folder [Ubuntu]?

I went back to my backup copy to fix a nagging Restore file error, since
the file it is trying to restore a file that is no longer on my system.

But it would be nice to find the sub-folder/file where that information
is located so it can be edited out instead of going back to a backup
copy of a month or two old.

[libreoffice-users] Custom document property in a condition statement. How?

2012-03-06 Thread basil.bourque
The Writer Guide documentation says I can use my own custom document property
instead of a variable in a condition statement.

-
DocInformation fields
“Using document properties to hold metadata and information that changes” on
page 363 described how to set up a custom document property. You can use
that document property as the variable in your condition statement, or you
can create another document property field specifically for conditions.
- (Chapter 14 Working with Fields of Writer Guide, page 377 in PDF)

How?

When I type the name of the property, in a Conditional text function in
the Insert Fields Other dialog, I always get the first phrase, never the
second. So it seems my conditional test is being ignored or incorrectly
always returning True.

After seeing DocInformation: displayed when I choose View Field Names, I
tried prepending that to my property name in my Conditional text function,
like this:
  DocInformation:MyDocumentPropertyNameHere
But that did not help. I always see the first phrase of the conditional
text.

I get success when using a variable.

Is there some trick to accessing a Document Property in a function?

[libreoffice-users] Calc macro to open tab delimited data file?

2012-03-06 Thread fork
Hi all,

First of all, thanks to all for such a great product!

Second, I would like to write, record, or copy a macro for calc that opens a
tab delimited file and sets all the imported columns to be text format. I want
it to give me a file selection dialogue, but otherwise do everything else
automatically.

I know how to do this manually, and it isn't tricky, it is just that we have
LOTS of tab delimited text data files here at work, and it would awesome to be
able to push a button, choose a file, and voila.

Since I have already chosen not to have LO prompt if saving in non-ODT, this
would work seamlessly, saving me endless hours of fury at Excel for their stupid
you will lose formatting blather.

I can provide any more info if anyone would like.

P.S. -- I don't really want to get good at macro writing, so I am hoping for the
very quickest quick hack, rather than the 500 page introduction to LO Basic. No
judgements implied, just expediency.

Tx!
