That's a pretty ironic message!

Hi,

It is fairly easy IMHO, someone wanted to spam the LibO-Dev ML using the
LibO-User ML mailing list as FROM address Or at least it seems so :)

Re: [libreoffice-users] Libre Office 3.6.2.2 - downloads

2014-06-27 Thread libreoffice-ml . mbourne

Hi Charles,

Just the two I mentioned as far as I know:
  LibO_3.6.6.2_Win_x86_install_multi.msi
  LibO_3.6.6.2_Win_x86_helppack_en-US.msi
Try those to start with and let us know if you have any problems. Run
the main installer first, then the helppack installer.

I'm not certain what the LibO-SDK* one is, but I've never used one
named like that. SDK usually means Software Development Kit, so I'd
guess it's for people writing extensions for LibreOffice.

The .asc files contain digital signatures for the corresponding .msi
files, and can be used to check that the downloads are genuine if you
know what to do with them, otherwise you don't need them. I'm not sure
that hosting them on the same server helps much though, since anyone
managing to change the .msi downloads would also be able to change the
.asc files so that they still match.

I need to download the older version 3.6.2.2.

Google revealed it was located here...

http://downloadarchive.documentfoundation.org/libreoffice/old/3.6.6.2/

Is that the safest place to download it from?

Yes; The Document Foundation is the organisation behind LibreOffice, and
that's the archive of old versions. Best to check if unsure though ;o)

Once there do I download every file under every folder except for mac
and portable to run it on an XP Pro PC:

You only need to download the version for your system, which is probably:
win/x86/LibO_3.6.6.2_Win_x86_install_multi.msi
and optionally the helppack in whatever language you prefer:
win/x86/LibO_3.6.6.2_Win_x86_helppack_.msi

For Windows, you only need to look under the win/ folder; the others are
for other types of systems:
box/ - (I'm not sure what this one is - looks like DVD images)
deb/ - Debian Linux
mac/ - Apple Mac
portable/ - Portable version which can run from a USB stick etc.
without being installed (empty in this case...)
rpm/ - RMP-based Linux (RedHat etc.)
src/ - Source code
win/ - Windows
And under each of those are downloads for various CPU architectures
(32-bit, 64-bit, PPC, etc.), and languages.

Thanks so much.

Charles.

[libreoffice-users] Calc: optimal column width

2014-06-27 Thread Thomas
Good morning
I have tried this a million times, but it works (worked) only rarely:
there are columns that need to be adjusted in width, preferrably to make
the longest entry fit.

However:
* select colum
* right-click - select optimal column width
* try with Default on or off
- NO response.

I can TRY to manually add any value I choose, but THAT is always a
trial and error approach and as such not very elegant.

Is there a way to convince Calc to set one or more colums to such
optimal width?

Thank you in advance.
Thomas

I've finally tested using RPM files in openSUSE and Fedora 20 - same
issue. Yet the distro versions (both GNOME and KDE) for those (installed
after the LO versions) work just fine. So, in summary the files open w/o
issue on all linux distro versions I've tested (Ubuntu, Debian, Fedora,
openSUSE), and Windows (XP and Win7).

I'll try to find a file that does not contain any personal information
to use for a bug report. Of if Brennan/Fridrich/Valek are reading,
contact me directly and I'll be happy to send you the failing files
directly. Anyone know where the test .pub files are? I could not find
any on git.
