Further to my last reply, you can encrypt a Writer file using pgp within LO
Writer. You can see the option in File > Save As but you will need an Openpgp
client on your system and you will need to have created a private/public key pair.
Most all linux distributions already have a pgp client

render it secure unless you also use a digital signing process.

I am learning how to use these tools and trying to understand how the
