I want to start the text put into a table cell at the left side of
side of a group of cells. I would assume that after selecting the
cells where I want to do that selecting the left margin icon in the
formatting toolbar would do what I want to do,

Something else occurred to me. Are there table defaults specified in
Tools -- Options which are not overridden by what is specified in the

I found in part the answer to my own question. Any text in a cell is
also a paragraph. If the paragraph style used in a cell provides for
spacing on any or all four sides of a paragraph, then those spaces
override the spacing in the borders tab.
defaults to centering any text in the cells; whereas Table Contents
starts text at the extreme left -- also useful to know.

I cannot assign a template to an existing writer odt file using the
menu item File->Templates->Assign template (current document).
Whenever I select a template from the list which pops up by a double

In my Debian Jessie box I wanted to edit an ott template file. After
however selecting the one I wanted to edit, clicking on the edit
button did not open it. This fault I encountered only after upgrading

Right click the field and click ”Edit Fields…”.
Select the format you want, I believe
that each one
of those presumably has different ways of setting the defaults for their
fields, in particular the time field.

options besides 'None' are available; so it is impossible to install a
separator line above footnotes. What do I need to do to have other
options for 'style'?
