Re: [libreoffice-users] Problem with subscript in Impress

2011-08-06 Thread Ilja Gerhardt
I observe a similar behavior in LO 3.4.? under Ubuntu Linux. I am also
coming from the Chemistry perspective here. It seems to be better now.

I basically work with one font (Gill Sans) and had the feeling that it
might be better with different fonts (Arial). A workaround here would be
to align the positions and shrinking by hand - i.e. adjust the
parameters for position and shrinking..

Cheers

[libreoffice-users] 3D Transitions in Impress

2011-07-07 Thread Ilja Gerhardt
Hi LibOs...

I recently saw that there are 3D transitions theoretically available
(see e.g.
http://www.oooninja.com/2008/02/eye-candy-3d-opengl-transitions-impress.html
and the Wikipedia entry) in Impress.

Under Linux i64 (Ubuntu) I am not able to get this working. Anybody has
a clue?

Cheers

[libreoffice-users] Impress and Hardware Acceleration

2011-06-04 Thread Ilja Gerhardt
Hi LOers!

I am having some trouble when switching to presentation mode (F5) and
having some transparent fillings in my presentation. With the hardware
acceleration on, they mostly look like grayish areas, although they have
nice colourful fillings in editing mode.

If I turn off the hardware acceleration, everything looks fine, but is
impressing slow.

Any clue where to tune the color settings for my hardware acceleration?
I am working with Linux-i64, Ubuntu, the usual stuff...

Cheers...

[libreoffice-users] Workflow / vector graphics to LO / Impress

2011-05-28 Thread Ilja Gerhardt
Hi LO users -

I have a naive question how you guys achieve the most efficient way to
transfer vector graphics from other programs to LibreOffice (mostly
Impress in my case). I work quite a bit cross-platform in a mixed Linux/
Windoze environment. The main question is how to keep a maximum of
editability and a most accurate transfer from another program.

Here my workflow (which is quite a pain in the neck):

I generate a vector format in e.g. Inkscape (http://www.inkscape.org/)
and like to have it transferred to LO-Impress.

= Copy and Paste does not work, since LO interprets the SVG as a pile of
text.
= I can save it as SVG in Inkscape directly, but then, when importing in
Impress, all curves are automatically closed (draw a triangle in which
one side is missing, save as SVG and then 'Insert' a picture in LO).
Furthermore gradient fills are just screwed up and bezier lines have
funny empty shapes at their nodes.
= it's a little better, if I open the SVG directly in Draw (the curves
are not closed, gradients do not work either)
= I can save from Inkscape directly as ODG, but similar problems occur.
= by exporting into WMF, I again lose all gradients...
= then I try to save in Inkscape as a PDF, this works sometimes
decently, but if there is a gradient fill, it screws up LO totally.
= when I am totally desperate, I save the file as a bitmap and have it
as a 'never-change-again' object in my presentation

Maybe you have a better workflow - I am curious!

Cheers!

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Workflow / vector graphics to LO / Impress

2011-05-28 Thread Ilja Gerhardt
Hi NoOp -

sure, I know that the SVG import is halfway there. The question was
about 'more robust' import formats. It seems that the ODG exporter of
inkscape is also not working and PDF was also quite a disappointment.

Maybe other people have a better workflow, not relying on the SVG
import, but still another vector format.

Cheers!

That's about your only real option. SVG is being worked on, but
currently is pretty much borked. See:

Re: [libreoffice-users] Re: Workflow / vector graphics to LO / Impress

2011-05-28 Thread Ilja Gerhardt
Hi Tom -

well, the issue is to include scientific graphs etc. from other programs
(plots, CAD, etc.) - the way to inkscape is quite straight forward. But
then from there further to LO is a pain (as described). Maybe other
people have similar issues and found a better way than 'try'n'error' as
I do it right now.

What do you refer to that 'Impress is fairly broken'?

Cheers!

 Hi :)
I think svg is the best even tho it's not perfect right now. Perhaps miss
 out
on using inkscape and just create things in Draw instead? I haven't tried
either but i would guess that Draw is more compatible with Impress. Actually
Impress seems to be fairly broken right now but hopefully that will get
 better
 too!
 Good luck and regards from
 Tom :)

[libreoffice-users] Hyperlink to Custom Show / Impress

2011-05-24 Thread Ilja Gerhardt
Hi LO-Users -

Impress: Is it possible to link to a custom show and then returning back
into the normal presentation mode? In the M$Office version this is
possible. Unfortunately I did not find any options in LO.

Background: It would be nice to have some additional slides at the end
of the presentation and if s.o. asks a question, click on the 'further
explanations' and go to the specific slide(s) and return afterwards.

Cheers!

[libreoffice-users] Problem with Bullets and Saving in Impress

2011-05-17 Thread Ilja Gerhardt
Hi -

there seems to be a problem with Bullets in Impress 3.4 beta 5 under
Linux (i64) - is there a workaround?

To reproduce this bug:

- open a new presentation
- make a multiline input
- click on bulltets/ numbering
- save the document
- close LO
- open the document in LO
- bullets are gone

Cheers
