 * Save as a (new) template.

Subject: [libreoffice-users] Question about document/template interaction
To: users@global.libreoffice.org

LibreOffice 5.1.6.2 / 5.3.5.2 on Linux Lite.

I wrote a document based on a specific template.
As I did so, I added four new styles to the document.

Is there a way to automatically incorporate these new styles into the
specific template,
such that when I create a new document based on it, the new styles will be
included in it?

Thanks for helping.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Which printer for best libreoffice integration ?

2018-03-02 Thread leleu
If you do want low cost printing, investigate CISS (continuous ink
system). You can find printers equipped, and avid to install youself,
which is somehow tricky

Je la 01/03/2018 23:31, Tim-L skribis :

Actually, I tend to look for third party ink sources, to help with my
smaller fixed income.

I know that I sometimes choose Postscript Level 3 instead of the
default PDF option, when it is shown as an option.

Right now, I do much more color work, so my only laser printer is
slowly using the toner.  I have had a replacement toner on the for
several years now. I think I have about 500-600 pages to go before I
need to change out the empty one.

I love the HPLIP system.  That system is the best driver system over
any other printer brand I have used.  For Canon, I have to find
drivers in UK or other English countries since Canon USA does not
support Linux - officially from their support people.  That was before
the Canon TS like of printers. I bought a TS-9020 printer and it had
basic support for Linux.  The scanner package is very limited compared
to the MG6200 line's scanner package.  At least Canon is starting to
believe that the US market also has Linux users that want to use Canon
printers.

As for CUPS, I have CUPS-pdf driver/printing service installed as one
of my printers.  There seems to references to a newer PDF creating
package, but have not found it.

So, here is my list of network printers:

Canon TS9020 inkjet all-in-one [wired and wireless]
HP Laserjet 2300dn - postscript driver used
HP Officejet 7000-E809a  - hpcups used

I had others, but they died from use.  The color laser's image "belt"
somehow got "scratched" during a toner install or a paper flow issue.
So the middle of the printout had major issues. It would cost less to
get another color laser than it would to repair it.  So I chose not to
replace it.

It has 64-bit AMD 3300+ CPU, 512MB ram, and only 160GB

original Windows XP 32-bit OS system on a 64-bit hardware. Since
it needs
ALL of the old user's info removed, and XP OS "damaged", It was
better to
just make it a Linux system - for security reasons.

I just installed Ubuntu MATE 16.04 64-bit on it. Their specs
stated
32-bit would be best but the system keeps failing due a SIS630
"module
missing".

So with these specs, what is the newest version of LO you would
install?
With this low RAM, it may not be able to handle the newest
versions. As I
type this, the old system is now in the "software updating"
cycle. So,

it

is installing the newest LO that is in Ubuntu 16.04's
repository.

To be honest, this system is a little old for my needs, but for
a free
giveaway system [HP desktop, keyboard, mouse, and a HP "square"
15 inch
monitor], I do not have any parts to upgrade it and do not want
to buy

any

hardware for it.

So, what is the newest version I can install without and
problems?.

Tim, if you've managed to successfully install 64-bit Ubuntu MATE
16.04 on
this system, you should be able to install and run any version of
LO - why
not take the latest, 6.0.1 (or 6.0.2 to which LO just updated
itself via
the PPA om my Linux box) ? The only thing I'd recommend beyond
this would
be installing a bit more RAM. Even if you've made clear that you
don't wish
to buy any hardware for it, you should be able to obtain some used
DDR-2
sticks, which the motherboard is almost certain to support, for
next to
nothing, which would make a great deal of difference in how you
experience
the computer (the system requirements for 64-bit LO 6.0.1 are
listed as 256
MB RAM, with 512 MB recommended)

Which is an improvement, but not the solution. All I really did was
rearrange the order of the parameters, change a hyphen to an
underscore in the tmp file path and change double quotes to single

that's what likely eliminated the "verify input parameters" message.
You may also notice I changed output from utf8 to csv. I need *both*

Maybe I need yet another rearrangement to eliminate the file load error?

We are using Libre Office in the writing of technical manuals
where some users make html copies.

Finding that the file names of images are being displayed
beside or below the images in the html versions. Because
all images are given a caption, we do not want the file names too.

I can remove them by going to each image Properties>Options
and deleting one at a time but this is time consuming when there are
many images - over 100 in one manual. Is there a setting that can
automatically prevent the file names being displayed?

Have looked through the Help but found nothing, did I overlook it?

Thanks I tried it out in various variations

/usr/bin/soffice --headless --infilter="Text(encoded):UTF8" --convert-to xlsx

But the encoding is still broken.

Re: [libreoffice-users] Failure to Apply Text Color

Hey Joe. . .

I just installed 5.3.3.2 on my Ubuntu 16.04 laptop. I had 5.2.x
installed but I realized that I had forgotten to install the newest
version when I did on a different laptop [17 inch]. That different
one had a fresh install of both Ubuntu 16.04 and Windows 10 Home.

Here is what I tried.
I pasted some text into Writer. I selected a large block of text and
then clicked on the font color [red was the last one used]. I had no
problems with it changing the text to red. I tried changing colors
and no issues there.

Since I do not have 17.04 installed, I could not test it using that OS.

Just for reference - what version of LibreOffice was installed with
Ubuntu 17.04? I tend to installed the latest version of LO after I
upgrade to a newer OS. Of course, I tend to forget to upgrade LO
after that. 3 strokes can do that.

You probably have Tools | Options... | LibreOffice | Accessibility |
Options for high contrast appearance | Use automatic font colour for
screen display ticked. Remove the tick. (You may need to reload any
document before its display will change.)

With this option ticked, the text is coloured in the document file
and will print as coloured - but does not display as such. You can
see the true text colour in Page Preview - unless you also have Tools
| Options... | LibreOffice | Accessibility | Options for
high-contrast appearance | Use system colours for page previews ticked.

Should I open a bug report?

Probably not.

I trust this helps.

I'm with Ian on this one. Those changes you suggest work for the current

File > New > Spreadsheet, the new sheet opens with Liberation Sans 10
selected and in place.

If you open the Default style by right-click > modify > Font tab, you
can set the font to anything else you like but one thing that makes me
think the default is set at a deeper level is that on the style modify
dialog, there is a fourth button (at RHS) labeled 'Standard'. Clicking
this sets Liberation Sans 10 again.

According to the help info, the Standard button "Resets the values
visible in the dialog back to the default installation values"

If I prepare a new blank spreadsheet with my preferred font and save it
as a new template, whenever I open a new spreadsheet by File > New >
Templates > Spreadsheets tab > select my new template > click Open, I
get a new blank spreadsheet with my fonts I selected. So this is
available as a workaround but it involves a lot of clicks just to get
what is needed. More clicks than it takes to change the font in the
default spreadsheet.

Moreover, within the new spreadsheet from the new template, if I open
the style modification dialog and click the 'Standard' button, then I'm
again in the Liberation Sans 10 font.

So where to go to change the 'Standard' setting remains a useful
question. Could the answer be in the Tools > Options > LibreOffice >
Advanced and then look at org.openoffice.VCL > DefaultFonts where I see
that the Liberation family gets lots of mentions ?

Perhaps someone more used to modifying these Advanced settings could
comment ?

Under Ubuntu 16.10 a command with the entry

It has lots of adjustments that you can make. Not updated beyond LO 4

I installed both these two anyway to see what would happen. Neither can

This makes me wonder if the problem is within my new UbuntuStudio 16.04

Hello, I have two columns A and B Column A contains emails and column
B is empty I wish that each time in column A is detected certain words
like 'trans', 'sped' ... can be directly displayed in column B on the
same line the word 'transportation and Logistics'. I don't know which
function to use Thanks in advance for your help Regards -- View this
