[libreoffice-users] Re: MS Office MacIntosh to Libre Writer Windows

2012-12-10 Thread bsn
Hi Miroslaw
I needed some delay to check what software my friend had used : it was Pages ,
and I was using LO 3.5
Thx to your advice, I've installed LO 3.6.4.3 and the problem has disappeared.
I now can read the Mac docs.
Thanks to you, and thx also to everybody that has spent time to reply

Bruno

It is impossible to open it . LO opens a small window (ASCII filter
options) and converts the doc to a unreadable scribble.

Perhaps he created it using Apple Pages? Then you have encountered #53909
(https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=53909)

This is fixed in LO 3.6.4-rc2, which will be released this week.
Or you can wait until next week, when 3.6.4 will be officially released (it
will
be bit-by-bit identical to rc2, so I suggest downloading rc2 when it is
ready).

Or, if this is matter of life and death, you can downgrade to 3.5.4 (but not
3.5.5 or later).

We would need to know the application on the Mac and its version number
used to produce this document. There are/were known bugs in both OOo,
and now presumably AOO/LO with DOC files produced by some Mac
applications, most notably due to codepage issues.

Why was the bug in the later versions of 3.5.x?
I have not kept up with this thread, since I am not a Mac person, but I
have 2 friends that are and I keep them up on the availability of the
new versions.

I have been using 3.5.7 till 3.6.4 came out. So would they if they took
my advice.

Also, this email seemed to have been delayed since you talk about 3.6.4
coming out next week, when it has been out since the 5th or 6th, and I
just got this email.
