Try removing the rewrite rules and see what you get. I've tested simply "TraceEnable Off" without the rewrites on a build of apache 2.2.27 for RHEL and it works as expected: Trying 127.0.0.1... Connected to localhost. Escape character is '^]'. TRACE / 405 Method Not Allowed Method Not
