The ping action hasn't changed but versions of jetty have.

That's consistent with what we see but I don't think that's a memory
leak as such.
If you continuously GET the /$/ping or /$/metrics endpoints then you see
direct memory buffers being allocated and eventually reclaimed. See the
graphs we posted earlier.
