I try your patch and test it using smppsim using the loopback option (using
ActiveXperts Software example behind it) and it work just fine. But when I
use a GSM modem (Wavecom) it didn't work. The smsbox still receive the
messages as seperated messages.
here are the configuration that
USB port changes everytime you conect/diconnect the modem, it is manage by
some hot process in linux. You have to make a small developpement to make
the recognition correctly and map you usb. I did it and manage chain of usb
by this way, it is quite tricky to debug!

Maybe /dev/ttyUSB0 is not really the device name? Check connecting with
minicom to see if you can access the device that way. It may be also a
permissions problem.

Or it could be permission problem. Some distros need you to be root to
access /dev/ttyUSB0.
