I use modem a lot and the best troughput I've ever got is 6sec per
message with no dlr. The average for my operators is 8 sec per
message.
If you need more throughput either install several modems, swithc to
SMPP, or use a 3rd party provider like clickatell.

SERIAL Modems are NOT OS dependant so you can use any modem/phone
for USB/Bluetooth... you need a modem that will have the appropiate
drivers so it can be recognized by your OS.
