Hi,
It seems that the snapshot facility relies on the libvirt snapshot facility
which at the moment
relies entirely upon the QEMU snapshot facility, which means you can really
only snapshot QCOW
images. Before I start to modify remotes/bmm/kvm/snapshot*, is there a way or
are there any plans
Dear ON community
We don't know if this is a known issue or not, we are using ON 4.2 and
Sunstone with LDAP support. We have notice that special characters like
white spaces are not working from Sunstone using LDAP auth, we got these
errors:

Dear community,
Continuing the blog post series showcasing the new features in the upcoming
OpenNebula 4.4, we have published a new entry explaining the multiple
system datastore features.
This will allow even more flexibility to configure your storage
infrastructure. Find out how in our blog:
Hi
As you know there are two types of snapshots, system and disk. Disk only
snapshots are handled through the capacity tab in sunstone and eventually
by the CPDS script in the TM. System snapshots are handled by the snapshot
script of VMM.
There are no plans to redesign this, disk snapshotting
Hi,
Right now you can set the CONTEXT/TARGET attribute manually. But we have
been discussing this, and we think we could manage the prefix better:
- Allowing to set CONTEXT/DEV_PREFIX. This can be done now for DISKs and
Images, but not for context.
- Using hd as the default prefix for cdrom disks

Ups my mistake, Storage tab I meant... When you save a disk you can do it
live or deferred, deferred is when the VM is shutdown, live calls the cpds
script to copy the disk to the datastore.

Ok, I see that now .. interesting.
I'm wondering how to handle this .. vdc-store snapshots are essentially

Hi Caty,
It seems like OSTEMPLATE value is not set properly. Can you check the
deployment.0 file, it is in your datastore_location/0/vm_number folder on
the host. Post it's entire content, please. It is an ordinary xml file, you
can open it with any text editor.
Then check if disk.0 file is also
Hi,
I'm seeing a problem with space utilization calculations in face of
sparse and qcow2 images. Those could occupy less space initially, but
grow later. So system datastores can be overprovisioned. Should I open
new bug report or add this as comment to some feature/gut report ?

Hi,
Let's discard hypervisor issues. Could you connect directly to the
host with another VNC client, and see if you are having the caps
problem?

We do not use ldap but we have seen a similar issue with opennebula
authentication with X.509 certificates. OpenNebula compresses all the
white space out of the Distinguished Name of the certificate.. I would
not be surprised if it did the same for ldap. As far as I know it is
meant to be a
I have just started a similar thread because I have the same error, but I
have already set correctly:

Have you solved the problem?
What else can I try?
Thanks,

Hi,
VMs (or rather, images containing the guestOS of the VMs) need to be
prepared for contextualization. Currently, OpenNebula doesn't natively
support Windows contextuazation, but you can give this [1]

The Windows images were sysprepped, and i did stumble upon that thread last
night . I'll give it a try , thanks.

Hello,
I just finalize the migration our 3.8.3 ONE to 4.2 and was forced to
change my plan to put datastore 0 on NFS4 because of slow accesses.
For non persistent images they use local datastore 0, but persistent
ones use NFS (via the symlink).
All my images are qcow2.
I have a dedicated VLAN

Mmm, Ok ... in which case I think the only way to approach this properly is via

For now I'm going to implement snapshots as simple DB copies as per normal raw

No, I don't think there is huge traffic. I have two machines one has front

hardware virtualization support. Machines are connected via a switch.
