Hi Pedro,

Aren't the LVM drivers [1] what you are looking for?

Is this configuration good for implementing OpenNebula, or i must go to

Re: [one-users] OpenNebula and IBM Blade V7000 FC

2013-10-25 Thread Jörg Mauer
Hi,

We´re testing a shared storage solution through FC with Opennebula
too. Next to the included lvm drivers there is also an implementation
that does not seem to require clvm,
as the volumes are managed by one node:
http://wiki.opennebula.org/shared_lvm
(we had to do some modifications to get things working though - still
testing)

The only disadvantage is that VM snapshots are not possible when you
use raw disks instead of qcow2 for kvm.

I have installed this packages, qemu-kvm-spice in a node which then I was

Also, by follow your links, I have installed additional packages by using

I am doing a project on cloud computing interoperability.

I already installed two centos operating systems on my two machines and
then installed open nebula cloud with sunstone GUI.

It is requested from me to do migration of Virtual machines between the two
 clouds using the occi.

What i did is as follows:

1. first step: $ su
2. then enter the password of the server
3. in our case : amira30
4. then $ su - oneadmin
5. this will appear :[oneadmin@localhost ~]
6. then write the following command :oneuser show
7. this will appear :

 $vim /var/lib/one/.one/occi_auth
the file will appear for you press insert
 and then write :oneadmin:b1b3773a05c0ed0176787a4f1574ff0075f7521e
the after theh one admin is the password we got from oneuser show 0
 command up
after you finish to save what you have added press escape button then x

 then
 $ occi-server start

 then $install yum install curl

now to create vm.xml file write the following:
 $vim vm.xml
the white screen of the file will open
 press i
 then paste the following data:
 ///

   INSTANCE_TYPEmedium/INSTANCE_TYPE
   DISK
  STORAGE href='0'/
   /DISK
   OS
  ARCHx86_64/ARCH

 //

 then esc
then : then x then press enter
 the the last line .
 curl -X POST -u oneadmin:password http://localhost:5678/compute -T vm.xml
didn't show the on the cloud.

so please tell me what is the nest step for migration.

What is the output of the curl command, do you get any error?

[one-users] OpenNebula 3 Service Pack 2 (3.8.5) Released

2013-10-25 Thread Tino Vazquez
Dear OpenNebula users,

The OpenNebula Project announces the general availability of the
second Service Pack for the OpenNebula 3 Series (3.8.5). After its
first year, and for two additional years, the Project distributes a
Service Pack (SP) for each major release that combines all the patches
to easily install or deploy its last update. Service Packs allow users
to maintain their current OpenNebula version as long as possible,
preserving the stability and security of their data centers, as they
transition from one OpenNebula Series to the next.

This is a maintenance release that fixes bugs reported by the
community after 3.8.4 was released. This release only includes bug
fixes and is a recommended update for everyone running any OpenNebula
3.x, whom for any particular reason do not want to upgrade their cloud
manager to the latest available OpenNebula version.

The OpenNebula Team

 with regards
 Raj,

The oneflow templates are stored in the OpenNebula DB as generic Documents

But oneapps was discontinued. OneFlow was merged to the main OpenNebula
distribution, and AppMarket was released as a separate component.
Perhaps you installed it because of Appstage?

Re: [one-users] OpenNebula and IBM Blade V7000 FC

2013-10-25 Thread Jaime Melis
Hi Pedro,

I agree with Valentin in that you are looking for the LVM drivers. Please
note that there are new LVM drivers coming up in OpenNebula 4.4, namely the
shared_lvm drivers:
http://opennebula.org/documentation:rel4.4:lvm_drivers

The idea is the export a LUN (or several) to all the hosts and create a
clustered VG on top of that.

cheers,
Jaime

easier to share enhancements.

[one-users] onehost sync

2013-10-25 Thread Olivier Sallou
Hi,

I have executed onehost sync on my master, but even after quite a long

(master installed via deb packages, and in oned.conf:

Daniel,

Thanks a lot for your email. We are planing to submit a proposal to have a
stand at FOSDEM 2014. Regarding lightning talk, it would be good to know if
there are people in our community planning to submit proposals. I am adding
the discuss mailing list.

Re: [one-users] onehost sync

2013-10-25 Thread Jaime Melis
Hi Olivier,

I don't know what could be going on. When the core detects that the
remotes_dir has been touched by the onehost sync, then it sends a
special argument to the driver which forces an 'scp' of the remotes...

As a workaround I can only tell you what you already know, which is to
manually scp the remotes over to the hosts... To debug it, we could gdb the
oned process and see what's going on, especifically here:
https://github.com/OpenNebula/one/blob/one-3.8/src/im/InformationManager.cc#L224

The upcoming OpenNebula 4.4 version won't have this problem, though. The
scp will be triggered by the actual 'onehost sync' command, instead of the
core. This is an advantage in many ways because it'll be easier to debug
and because you can select what hosts/clusters to update:
https://github.com/OpenNebula/one/blob/master/src/cli/one_helper/onehost_helper.rb#L161

cheers,
Jaime

I had seen those modifications on repository, and I copied the code from
repository to try the new sync feature and it worked nicely, but I had
to update manually the code installed via packages.

what bothers me is no error is raised on current behaviour. I'll keep
this problem aside for the moment as 4.4 workaround worked.

Thanks

To debug it, we could
gdb the oned process and see what's going on, especifically here:
 https://github.com/OpenNebula/one/blob/one-3.8/src/im/InformationManager.cc#L224
One of my hosts is down (I have set it down with the onehost command).

I wonder if:

rc=hpool-discover(discovered_hosts,host_limit,target_time);

if ((rc != 0) || (discovered_hosts.empty() == true))
{
return;
}

would not do a return because of my host is not up.

The upcoming OpenNebula 4.4 version won't have this problem, though.
The scp will be triggered by the actual 'onehost sync' command,
instead of the core. This is an advantage in many ways because it'll
be easier to debug and because you can select what hosts/clusters to
 update:
 https://github.com/OpenNebula/one/blob/master/src/cli/one_helper/onehost_helper.rb#L161

[one-users] context mac address

I'm working on contextualizing a windows VM with multiple NIC's during VM
creation

Does anyone know the correct Variable for the MAC by network ID number? I just
want to add it to context settings in the VM Template so it picks it up

I tried that as you wrote it and I have tried a few of my own variables that
did not work either.

I would love to see a comprehensive list of variables to use, and I'm just not
finding one.

That page is explanatory on how to put them together, but not how to obtain
what is available - maybe MAC isn't available with $NIC ??

ETH0_NIC = $NIC[MAC, NETWORK_ID=\0\]

The contextualization variables syntax is explained here [1].

[one-users] OneFlow and “infrastructure libraries”

2013-10-25 Thread Daniel Dehennin
Hello,

I would like to manage some kind of “infrastructure libraries” with VMs
templates and networks.

For example, an “infrastructure” could declare:

- 1 network called “internet”, shared between all infrastructures to have
  network access with outside

- 1 network called “DMZ”

- 1 network called “LAN”

- 1 “router” VMs with:
  * its first interface on “internet”, configured as DHCP or contextualized
  * its second interface on “DMZ”
  * its third interface on “LAN”

- X “server” VMs with one interface on “DMZ”

- Y “workstation” VMs with one interface on “LAN”

When a user instanciate this “infrastructure”:

- 2 new networks are created:
  * DMZ-UNIQ NUMBER
  * LAN-UNIQ NUMBER

- a temporary clone of “router” is created with:
  * its first interface network untouched
  * its second interface network set to “DMZ-UNIQ NUMBER”
  * its third interface network set to “LAN-UNIQ NUMBER”

- 1 VMs is started from that temporary VM template

- a temporary clone of “server” is created with its interface network
  set to “DMZ-UNIQ NUMBER”

- X VMs are started from that temporary VM template

- a temporary clone of “workstation” is created with its interface network
  set to “LAN-UNIQ NUMBER”

- Y VMs are started from that temporary VM template

Do you think OneFlow could be extended for such use case?

Or maybe it's already possible to do this but I do not find how?

Regards.

Hi,

Thank you guys for the answers.
I'm using the sunstone interface. I've created the hosts and cluster.
When creating the datastore i chose the LVM preset (Datastore: LVM and
Transfer: LVM) and disk type: BLOCK.
So, i type the volume group name i had created and localhost for storage
server.
But i dont' seem to work, the capacity says -/-.
And i'm not able to create a image on it. It is not shown in the datastore
list when creating the image.
Am i doing the right way? I think i'll wait for OpenNebula 4.4 new lvm
drivers.

Thanks

 Hi,

I am contacting the guys that created that drivers to ask them to add
that code to the github addons repository [1]. I hope that way it is
 easier to share enhancements.

 Cheers

[one-users] 答复: context mac address

2013-10-25 Thread Sam Song
Hi,

Could you use ETH0_IP and ETH1_IP to set correct IP to two NICs?

In my opinion, the NIC with ID 0 will be the NIC interface eth0 in the
guest OS, and NIC with ID 1 will be eth1. So it is no need to bother MAC.

Sam
