[one-users] Re; Snapshots ...
Hi, It seems that the snapshot facility relies on the libvirt snapshot facility which at the moment relies entirely upon the QEMU snapshot facility, which means you can really only snapshot QCOW images. Before I start to modify remotes/bmm/kvm/snapshot*, is there a way or are there any plans to move snapshot functionality to the drivers such that we can use a custom snapshot facility on a per storage facility basis? Case in point; At the moment there seems to be a script which does this; virsh --connect $LIBVIRT_URI snapshot-create-as $DOMAIN (which is QCOW2 only?) I would like it to be able to handle this; vdc-tool -n ON_IM_81 --mksnap First Snapshot :: Snapshot created [First Snapshot] vdc-tool -n ON_IM_81 --lssnap +--+--+--+--+--+ | UniqueID | Snapshot Name| Size | Blocks | Created@ | +--+--+--+--+--+ | 1| First Snapshot | 662.53M | 370404 | 20 Oct 2013 09:55:08 | | | 6c0ca1c0-9d62-474a-83fc-369fa01d4068 | | | Root: 1196295401 | +--+--+--+--+--+ Number of snapshot blocks used (370404) taking ( 662.53M) Current committed blocks = 652079 Current blocks (0 ) and current size ( 0.00b) Obviously the vdc-tool output can be tweaked as necessary .. I would like to be able to integrate this into libvirt, but the snapshot API in libvirt appears still to be on the drawing board whereas I already have a working / usable snapshot facility ... any thoughts ? [one-users] Sunstone LDAP and user passwords with special characters
Dear ON community We don't know if this is a known issue or not, we are using ON 4.2 and Sunstone with LDAP support. Re: [one-users] Re; Snapshots ...
Hi As you know there are two types of snapshots, system and disk. Disk only snapshots are handled through the capacity tab in sunstone and eventually by the CPDS script in the TM. System snapshots are handled by the snapshot script of VMM. There are no plans to redesign this, disk snapshotting can use a custom storage facility through cpds, but system snapshots will be handled through the hypervisor Note that system snapshots require also to checkpoint the memory state of the system, thats the reason for requiring qcow2 in kvm. So I am not really sure how this two processes, memory and disk snapshot, can be orchestrated outside of libvirt, maybe libvirt hooks? About the bug, I am wondering if this is a rendering issue or something deeper, could you send the output of: onevm show VM_ID -x Cheers Ruben On Wed, Nov 20, 2013 at 11:19 AM, Gareth Bult gar...@linux.co.uk wrote: Hi, It seems that the snapshot facility relies on the libvirt snapshot facility which at the moment relies entirely upon the QEMU snapshot facility, which means you can really only snapshot QCOW images. Re: [one-users] [SOLVED] Re: Context CDROM seen as hard drive
Hi, Right now you can set the CONTEXT/TARGET attribute manually. But we have been discussing this, and we think we could manage the prefix better: - Allowing to set CONTEXT/DEV_PREFIX. This can be done now for DISKs and Images, but not for context. - Using hd as the default prefix for cdrom disks (and context), ignoring the dev prefix set in oned.conf This will probably make it into the final release [1] Regards. Re: [one-users] Re; Snapshots ...
Ok, I see that now .. interesting. I'm wondering how to handle this .. vdc-store snapshots are essentially catalogue entries rather than files, so although I can call CPDS to make the snapshot, there doesn't seem to be any facility to use a snapshot that's not actually a stand-alone VM store. .. specifically snapshot delete and snapshot rollback would be the operations I'd most need. Also, my idea of snapshots (given there is no overhead) would be to snap every hour .. in which case the Images screen on SunStone would fill up very quickly if for example I was to create a DB entry for each snapshot .. Any ideas how best to approach this ?? Gareth. -- Gareth Bult “The odds of hitting your target go up dramatically when you aim at it.” - Original Message - From: Ruben S. We do not use ldap but we have seen a similar issue with opennebula authentication with X.509 certificates. [one-users] Performance with system datastore on NFS
Hello, I just finalize the migration our 3.8.3 ONE to 4.2 and was forced to change my plan to put datastore 0 on NFS4 because of slow accesses. For non persistent images they use local datastore 0, but persistent ones use NFS (via the symlink). All my images are qcow2. I have a dedicated VLAN for storage access, and my nodes are mounting the datastores as: 10.255.255.2:/one-datastores on /var/lib/one/datastores type nfs4 (rw,relatime,vers=4,rsize=262144,wsize=262144,namlen=255,hard,proto=tcp,port=0,timeo=600,retrans=2,sec=sys,clientaddr=10.255.255.4,minorversion=0,fsc,local_lock=none,addr=10.255.255.2,_netdev) I remember seeing a document about different cache scenarios and performance but I can not remember where. My setup is a tree nodes ONE: - one not very powerfull frontend - two quite powerful nodes to run VMs (core i7 + 16Go RAM) My storage is what they call “workgroup NAS” with dual gigabit nics configured in bonding. I'm wondering about using RAID1+0 instead of the RAID5 to improve disk access performances and lower CPU usage. Any hints or idea? So from your previous emails, I think we should recommend running sunstone as oneadmin in the documentation. This way, we will fix the permission issues with the novnc_token folder and the temp files created when uploading a file. Also we should export the TMPDIR var in the config.ruscript instead of using sunstone-server for this. Am I missing anything else? And there's no need to change permissions for /var/log/one/*, i.e. sunstone.log, sunstone.error, novnc.log. Regarding TMPDIR: I think this applies to occi-server (occi-server.conf) too. Yes, it applies. Also, econe-server and occi-server are missing the config.ru file, where we should export the var. Are you also deploying occi-server with passenger? No(t) (yet). But I might do that just to have the ability to send the logs, through apache, to a central logging server (iso 27001 requirements). Gr. Hi, Upgraded to latest 4.4 beta 2 and I'm now unable to manage templates, can see Images/Networks/Datastores fine in their respective panels but the ajax that pulls in the data for selection on a template seems to be broken. Also getting a Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 503 (Service Unavailable) http://#ip_address#:9869/service_template?timeout=true; periodically in the console log, any info I've found so far doesn't seem to apply as otherwise oned seems to be running fine. Sunstone log has [OneFlow] Error connecting to server (Connection refused - connect(2)). Server: localhost:2474 but the only info on that I can find tells me I need to start one http://opennebula.org/documentation:community:faq#i_get_a_connection_refused_-_connect_2_error_what_is_the_problem and check ONE_XMLRPC but looking at the one_xmlrpc.log it seems to be running fine. Any ideas? Thanks, -Michael ___ Users mailing list Users@lists.opennebula.org http://lists.opennebula.org/listinfo.cgi/users-opennebula.org
[one-users] need to create Flows? for openvswitch-based ONE (4.2) setup -- (passed on ebtables)
Hello ONE team, I have passed on the ebtables configuration for networking in 4.2 ONE. We'll need OpenVSwitch anyways to manage the VMs VLANS, so I have moved on. I *think* I have an almost working OpenVSwitch configuration. Must I manually create flows for each VM/MAC-addr to enable IP traffic, across the OVS vbridge (vbr0), in this case? The info on my new (OVS networking) setup, is included, at the end of this message. Thank you. (The platform is still openSUSE 12.3 on a Thinkpad W530...) Hi vishnu, I’m not sure how did you create it, but some parameters are not correct. Please recreate a vm template according to [1] and have a try again. Hi vishnu, It’s a SSH passwordless access error. You need to disable ssh strict host key check[1] You should first test ssh to onevmhost as oneadmin without any prompts for confirm. Can you check the deployment.0 file, it is in your datastore_location/0/vm_number folder. Post it's entire content, please. It is an ordinary xml file, you can open it with any text editor. Re: [one-users] VM in Opennebula for OpenVZ failed
Hi Caty. deployment file looks fine, but the driver can't find ostemplate variable in it. Have you installed the proper driver version, I mean have you done hg update main-4.2 during install? You can also check ONE_PATH/remotes/vmm/ovz/deploy file on your frontend and search for string OSTEMPLATE in it. If you are using the proper version, then there should be line doc.elements.each('VM/USER_TEMPLATE/OSTEMPLATE') in that file. In case you are using the old driver, the line would be doc.elements.each('TEMPLATE/OSTEMPLATE') do |ost| Regards, Nikita 2013/11/21 Catalina Quinde catalinaqui...@gmail.com Hi, thanks for reply Nikita, - Datastore 104 contains: oneadmin@ubuntuOpNeb:~$ ls /var/lib/one/datastores/104/51 deployment.0 disk.0 disk.1 disk.1.iso disk.0 file is in this folder. - deployment.0 file contains: oneadmin@ubuntuOpNeb:~$ cat /var/lib/one/datastores/104/51/deployment.0 VMID51/IDUID0/UIDGID0/GIDUNAMEoneadmin/UNAMEGNAMEoneadmin/GNAMENAMEVMuOpenVZ/NAMEPERMISSIONSOWNER_U1/OWNER_UOWNER_M1/OWNER_MOWNER_A0/OWNER_AGROUP_U0/GROUP_UGROUP_M0/GROUP_MGROUP_A0/GROUP_AOTHER_U0/OTHER_UOTHER_M0/OTHER_MOTHER_A0/OTHER_A/PERMISSIONSLAST_POLL0/LAST_POLLSTATE3/STATELCM_STATE2/LCM_STATERESCHED0/RESCHEDSTIME1384942214/STIMEETIME0/ETIMEDEPLOY_ID/DEPLOY_IDMEMORY0/MEMORYCPU0/CPUNET_TX0/NET_TXNET_RX0/NET_RXTEMPLATEAUTOMATIC_REQUIREMENTS![CDATA[CLUSTER_ID = 101]]/AUTOMATIC_REQUIREMENTSCONTEXTDISK_ID![CDATA[1]]/DISK_IDETH0_IP![CDATA[192.168.147.70]]/ETH0_IPNETWORK![CDATA[YES]]/NETWORKTARGET![CDATA[hda]]/TARGET/CONTEXTCPU![CDATA[1]]/CPUDISKCLONE![CDATA[YES]]/CLONECLUSTER_ID![CDATA[101]]/CLUSTER_IDDATASTORE![CDATA[ssh_diOpvz]]/DATASTOREDATASTORE_ID![CDATA[105]]/DATASTORE_IDDEV_PREFIX![CDATA[sd]]/DEV_PREFIXDISK_ID![CDATA[0]]/DISK_IDIMAGE![CDATA[VMopenvzamd64]]/IMAGEIMAGE_ID![CDATA[17]]/IMAGE_IDREADONLY![CDATA[NO]]/READONLYSAVE![CDATA[NO]]/SAVESOURCE![CDATA[/var/lib/one/datastores/105/ab477695037bf599fad1863e2a340b84]]/SOURCETARGET![CDATA[sda]]/TARGETTM_MAD![CDATA[ssh]]/TM_MADTYPE![CDATA[FILE]]/TYPE/DISKGRAPHICSLISTEN![CDATA[0.0.0.0]]/LISTENPORT![CDATA[5900]]/PORTTYPE![CDATA[VNC]]/TYPE/GRAPHICSMEMORY![CDATA[512]]/MEMORYNICBRIDGE![CDATA[br0]]/BRIDGECLUSTER_ID![CDATA[101]]/CLUSTER_IDIP![CDATA[192.168.147.70]]/IPIP6_LINK![CDATA[fe80::400:c0ff:fea8:9346]]/IP6_LINKMAC![CDATA[02:00:c0:a8:93:46]]/MACNETWORK![CDATA[VMNetOpenVZ]]/NETWORKNETWORK_ID![CDATA[4]]/NETWORK_IDNIC_ID![CDATA[0]]/NIC_IDVLAN![CDATA[NO]]/VLAN/NICOSARCH![CDATA[x86_64]]/ARCHBOOT![CDATA[hd]]/BOOT/OSTEMPLATE_ID![CDATA[6]]/TEMPLATE_IDVMID![CDATA[51]]/VMID/TEMPLATEUSER_TEMPLATECLUSTER_101![CDATA[101]]/CLUSTER_101OSTEMPLATE![CDATA[debian]]/OSTEMPLATESCHED_REQUIREMENTS![CDATA[CLUSTER_ID=101]]/SCHED_REQUIREMENTS/USER_TEMPLATEHISTORY_RECORDSHISTORYOID51/OIDSEQ0/SEQHOSTNAMEubuntu/HOSTNAMEHID3/HIDSTIME1384942223/STIMEETIME0/ETIMEVMMMADvmm_ovz/VMMMADVNMMADdummy/VNMMADTMMADssh/TMMADDS_LOCATION/var/lib/one/datastores/DS_LOCATIONDS_ID104/DS_IDPSTIME1384942223/PSTIMEPETIME1384942275/PETIMERSTIME1384942275/RSTIMERETIME0/RETIMEESTIME0/ESTIMEEETIME0/EETIMEREASON0/REASONACTION0/ACTION/HISTORY/HISTORY_RECORDS/VM Help me please.
