Hello,

I attach a pic with the field where you have to fill the filesystem type.
I’m using “vmdk_thin”.

Thank you!

I don't fully inderstand the question.

Anyway for VMware you either use a SAN connected to the hypervisor nodes using
vmfs or you export an NFS share to them. For NFS we have been using ext4 from a
linux machine without troubles.

Re: [one-users] Windows Instalaltion

2014-08-22 Thread Carlo Daffara
If you use KVM as the hypervisor, there is a known issue where the I/O
emulation is substantially slowed by the continuous fsync that the installer
performs.
The fastest solution is to apply the property CACHE=UNSAFE to the disk where
windows is installed, and change it later (either deleting it, using DEFAULT
or one of the
other cache modes supported by KVM). This will force KVM to ignore the
continuous read/write/check that is performed sector by sector and will speed
it up substantially the
process.
Remember to change it later- there is a reason why the mode is called unsafe...
it should be used only for this specific purposes and not in production.

Hello,

Re: [one-users] Could not read from CDROM (code 0004)

2014-08-22 Thread IBC Service Network / Zolotuhin Aleksey

Hello!

I'm new to working with OpenNebula, because when I created the template
in Sunstone, I did not think that, by specifying CONTEXT, the system
will try to boot the VM using it.

And, in my own opinion, forcing CONTEXT be the last CDROM device will
eliminate the situation that I have encountered.

Best regards,
Aleksey Zolotukhin

Many thanks for the explanation.
The problem really was that the VM tried to boot from the context CD.
After forcing the bootable CD as hda, everything worked as expected.

Hello,

That's the reason we force TARGET=hda on all installation ISO, I just
can not have two of them used in the same template.

Could it be better to force CONTEXT to be last CDROM device?

Regards.

If that's the case then this should be added to documentation as a Note

I will try it and get back to you on this.

 Thanks for your help.

Okay, so you mean to say that once the script is copied and executed, I
need to remove context.ps1 from context cd?

I checked VirtualMachineXML.cc and noticed it looped through all
datastores to determine if there was enough capacity.

If the virtual machine isn't being deployed to an image datastore, why
does it check the capacity, and subsequently cause my vm not to be
deployed? Manually deploying using onevm deploy works just fine.

Re: [one-users] why VM on slave zone is shutdown itself?

2014-08-22 Thread Liu, Gene
I just found that these VMs are running still on the nodes. Its weird
that OpenNebula changed their status to POWEROFF
Sounds like bug of OpenNebula?

Sorry that I missed some important information:

 All,

I wonder if anyone experienced the same weird error -- VMs shutdown
themselves? (in my environment, after running about 2 minutes)
The VMs from same template/image run well on master zone.
 Anyone has any ideas?

Re: [one-users] Automatic recover from hardware failure

Sander,

See
https://github.com/dignus/one/commit/02a5a65eae48d58edaa414af94802bc74e5b1e24
for the fix you can apply yourself before 4.8.1 is released.

  Hi all,

I'm almost finished setting up the POC for ONE so far. One last
piece I can't really figure out is how to recreate VM's on a
different host in case a host fails, like hardware off the grid.
How would I do such a thing?

You can enable the fault tolerance hook in oned.conf [1]. This hook
will perform the onevm delete --recreate action on the VMs of the
failed host. To avoid false positives because of network connectivity
issues, use the -p flag of the hook.

The delete-recreate action will create a new VM from the original
template. This means that the VM will have a new ID, IP, and clean
 disks.
We are working on a new mechanism for hosts with shared storage, to
migrate the failed VM to a new host keeping the current IPs, disk
 state, etc.

Is there an ETA on this new mechanism? I just ran into the same problem
 today in my test setup.

 Greets,

 Sander

[one-users] SSL proxy

2014-08-22 Thread Johan Kooijman
Hi all,

I've installed an nginx proxy for SSL offloading in front of Sunstone. All
works fine, except for opening a console. When clicking VNC, a small icon
appears in my Chrome URL bar telling me I'm trying to load unsafe scripts.
Javascript console tells me:

[blocked] The page at 'https://theonepoc.cloud.nl/' was loaded over HTTPS,
but ran insecure content from 'ws://localhost:17523/': this content should
also be loaded over HTTPS.

When I tick the VNC Secure websockets option in my user profile, I don't
get that message, but the VNC layer displays VNC Server disconnected
(code: 1006) immediatly.

Is there something wrong with my setup? Or did I miss something?

As far as I understand, theonepoc.cloud.nl:29876 is not managed by nginx
but by the python-websocket, nginx just serve the javascript code which
open the WSS connection.

Maybe with nginx support[1] you can reverse proxy the WebSocket:

1) make python-websocket listen on 127.0.0.1 only

2) configure nginx to listen on theonepoc.cloud.nl:29876 with SSL and
proxy_pass it to python-websocket on 127.0.0.1

I do not test it, but a simpler approach could be to configure wss in
/etc/one/sunstone-server.conf to use the same certificate and key than
nginx?

Regards.
