Re: [one-users] Automatic recover from hardware failure

2014-09-02 Thread Anandharaj Subramaniam
Hi,

I experience this issue with my production environment. The issue was
OpenNebula network setting was reset (network down few minutes) therefore ONE
think that all the node is offline / error. As we set “redeploy” when host is
in error, ONE initiate the redeployment. The moment ONE’s network is up, cause
intermittent network issue and read-only mode on the VMs.

So, hope this will be addressed in the new solution as well.

I hope this particular feature is coming soon, as this is a standard ‘cloud’

I can't say when it will be ready. It's not a patch that you can apply, the

Re: [one-users] Softlayer Error

2014-09-02 Thread Tino Vazquez
Hi Vincenzo,

Yes, the problem is most likely the ruby version, as the softlayer gem
requires a higher version that what is packaged in most distributions.

What OS are you using? Did you use rbenv or rvm to bump the ruby
version? If so, you may try what is suggested in this ticket [1]

Hi Maria,

It depends on your use case, but vmdk_thin is probably a good choice
since it will create a DATABLOCK that will take only the space that is
actually consuming, and it will grow up to the DATABLOCK size as soon as
data is stored in it (ie, sparse file)

You can find other options here:

 Hello, guys. Any progress on that?
 Thanks.

 We found a problem with the format of that image. It only works with

 In case you have a machine with a newer qemu version you can use this
 command to convert it:

 $ qemu-img convert -f qcow2 -O qcow2 -o compat=0.10 orig_image
 dest_image

 Sorry for the inconveniences.

 Hello Users,

 I have the following setup:

 Physical host: CentOS 6.5 (64 bit, of course), KVM, all set up following
 the Quickstart Guide here:
 http://docs.opennebula.org/4.8/design_and_installation/quick_starts/qs_centos_kvm.html
 Opennebula 4.8.0

 I got from the Marketplace the image named CentOS 7 - KVM - OpenNebula
 4.8. Imported it and it and created the template automatically for me. I
 modified the template to add my ssl public key to be able to login as root,
 added a network and pretty much that was it. I tried to instantiate the
 template, but the VM keeps getting into the FAILED status.

 Do you have any idea why it wouldn't start? Thanks in advance.

 Here is the VM log:

Ok, I did not understand why it was not working without the --sha1.

Thanks.

[one-users] Thin provisioning and image size

2014-09-02 Thread Daniel Dehennin
Hello,

The size of my qcow2 images is always reported as 1M:

IMAGE 114 INFORMATION
ID : 114
NAME   : debian-wheezy
USER   : nebula
GROUP  : nebula
DATASTORE  : default

IMAGE TEMPLATE
DEV_PREFIX=vd
DRIVER=qcow2
SAVED_DISK_ID=0
SAVED_IMAGE_ID=17

SAVE_AS=YES

As far as I understand, the size is calculated only at creation time and
never updated.

I think we could differentiate the real size from the virtual size in
case of thin provisioning like qcow2, qemu-img actually reports:

qemu-img info /var/lib/one/datastores/1/5d2be6f9746fc3447be11c6621da87df

disk size: 629M
cluster_size: 65536
Format specific information:
compat: 1.1

Re: [one-users] OpenNebula 4.8 ESX Sandbox (from marketplace) has no eth0 attached

2014-09-02 Thread Tino Vazquez
Hi Rustam,

You are right, the udev persistent rule was preventing for a correct
network configuration.

We've updated the appliance to remove the rule:

Let us know if you find anything else, we appreciate the feedback.

 Hi,

 I want to inform you that the appliance linked here OpenNebula 4.8 ESX
 Sandbox has no eth0 available. I was using VMware ESXi. The result was the
 same when running it via Virtualbox. Only br0 availble. It gave me a lot
 headache to find out why since eth0 is standard nowadays, a must have one. I
 thought that when building the appliance, then he/she must have at least one
 ethernet card attached physically, right?

 I saw that /etc/sysconfig/network-script/ifcfg-eth0 was there, using dhcp as
 bootproto. Running ifcofig eth0 up showed up a failure message.

 I found the answer why while reading an ebook, I noticed that there is a
 mention that you need to remove the
 /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules in order to prevent the network
 interface coming up as an interface other than eth0. So, I did just as told,
 restart the network service, and voila! It works, the eth0 is now there and
 enabling me to login to Sunstone.

 The funny thing is, that ebook I read and found the answer is an ebook about
 OpenStack :)

 Perhaps you guys should add a note about this and howto overcome the missing
 eth0 in the appliances.

 Regards,
 Salam,
 Rustam
