I finally has some time to test the 0.9.7, so I started from scratch
even patching kannel.
I get this error while patching:
patching file gwlib/cfg.def
patch: malformed patch at line 775: #undef OCTSTR

Ah, you need to re-compile Kannel using the patch because we added some
more config directives. Then re-compile mbuni and all will be well.
