Good point, Wade. Can you tell us, how would one get technical support for OO?

Thank you!

Lisa - this is a public group - not tech support.
Please tell us: what computer os you are using? Have you had any updates?
What version of OO are you using? And, how much ram is on your system?

Re: Open Office Draw Documents

2020-04-01 Thread David Belina
Sounds like you may have a memory issue if you have lots of drawing in one
file.  I had that issue with the OO Presentations on a Intel computer with just
4 GB of memory.  I had to up the settings for memory
(Options>OpenOffice>Memory) and change the memory per object (in Graphics Cache
and undo.  That stopped OO Presenttions from crashing on me.

2020-04-01 Thread Web Shari

Hopefully :)

Tools > AutoCorrect Options

On the Replace tab

Search for was and see if it's there.

If it is showing as a replacement with MAC, highlight it (select it) and
click on Delete.

Best not to allow any need for file recovery. OpenOffice file format is
complex and takes a little longer to generate than a flat file. Do not allow a
computer to sleep with an OO file open. Close your file, then OpenOffice. When
shutting down computer, wait for disk activity to cease before closing laptop
lid or powering off a desktop, this was necessary with conventional hard disk
drives which internally buffered the data and the time (a few seconds) was
necessary to permit the internal buffers to flush to disk before the power was
cut. It may not be necessary, or as necessary, with SSD drives. But I'm old
fashioned, and always close down leisurely.

Rory, thanks. Great info. Just bought HP Notebook with SSD drive. Much quicker,
but looks like recovering stuff is iffy per you email info. I downloaded ODT
file recovery program from the net. Hopefully useful if needed in future.

Your file is corrupt, possibly damaged due to over-hasty power-off of computer
or closure of laptop lid, before the OO housekeeping has been written to disk.

Try the methods in this tutorial
See https://forum.openoffice.org/en/forum/viewtopic.php?f=71=85038 for
detailed instructions on how to

a) use Previous Versions (W7 and later) to recover previous versions of the file

b) recover your file as it was when you last opened or saved it, or as it was
when it was last saved with AutoRecovery;

c) find previous versions of the file in the folder it is located in, but which
have since been deleted;

d) un-delete the temporary files AOO wrote while you were editing the file, and
then deleted. This will recover your file as it was when you last opened or
you last saved it.

Hi,

Eventually, I tried the 4.1.1 version from winpenpack and no change at all,
even with lowering the macro security option.

Dann musst Du für jede Folie unter Folienübergang-Nächste Folie (erreichbar über
Menü: Bildschirmpräsentation-Folienübergang) einstellen: "Automatisch mach ...
Sekunden".

Indem Du sie als *.odp speicherst? Ich verstehe das konkrete Problem nicht, bin
aber auch kein Experte für Impress.
