Mac has a program called Time Machine. It is installed on Mac from the
factory since macOS 10.5
If it is set to do backups, then check in Time Machine for your file.
This Apple webpage has basic instructions for Time Machine.

the easiest way to fix this within a spreadsheet is to do a
search with regular expressions option activated.
open the search dialog using Ctrl+F and activate "regular
expression" within the "more options" part of that dialog.

replace: &
