If you want me to test load your document, send a copy to my home email address
(assuming there is nothing sensitive) and I can take a peek in case it is just
something with your configuration that went bad. I have never seen this so

The fact that the doc loads is a good sign.

A quick test (of interest), is to copy some of those black lines where you
expect words to be and paste them into a regular text editor (on windows,
notepad is a common choice). This should tell you if it is just a font problem
(or similar).

Best of luck.

Hi,

I updated to 4.1.7 and anticipated that it was in my native language SWEDISH.
Noted too late that it was the US/English version and now I cannot access my
Open Office files and I cannot save.
I cannot copy and save elsewhere since the files are in different format!
I cannot find the administrator box, since I am the administrator and I cannot
replace 4.1.7 with the Seedish version since system tells it is already
installed!

How to:
1. Administrator box/field/file??
2. Change the US/English version to the Swedish version??
3. Trust the format will be correct IF I get the Swedish version up and running.

OpenOffice and most (all?) other word-processors do not handle translation
directly.

You need to Copy and Paste your text from OpenOffice into a translation
application, such as Google Translate or Promt (in chunks of about 1000
words - depending on the requirements of the translation application); when
that has translated it into your target language Copy and Paste into a new
OpenOffice document. You will have to check the formatting, and also check
the translation, as all translations are imperfect.

If you do not speak Spanish, do not send the un-revised translation out -
send the text in English and let the recipients translate it themselves.

I frequently encounter a major problem using open office.
Usually i have many documents open on my system (Windows10) and they are kept
open also if the system shuts down, they open (as doc1 doc2 etc) at the next
startup.
However they are all lost when Open Ofice updates automatically. This is very
unfortunate because much wpork is lost. You may want to address this major

It is unlikely that you lost OpenOffice or your files, it's more likely that
you lost your file associations in Windows.

Open the Control Panel, click on Programs an d Open the Default Programs here

Broadly, a spreadsheet recalculates when data is added or changed AND there
are formulae that use that data. Exactly what is needed will of course
depend on the particular spreadsheet.

If you are new to spreadsheets, you may find the following to be useful
resources.

Open Office is a free application. If you subscribed to it somewhere you got
suckered into paying for a free application.

RE: Need Oracle PDF Import Exp to work asap in Open Office and Wasted 3 Hours

2018-04-09 Thread Geoffrey Hartwell
Some .pdf items are recorded as text but others are whole images. Images may
need OCR software if they are to be imported. That is why some can be loaded
and some not.

If someone could please help asap. I've been through utube videos and websites
and have gotten so close so many times and come up with something going wrong
each time. I've spent at least 3-4 hours on just wanting to edit one thing in
a pdf file and just need to get my work done. Looks like I can't use the
Oracle pdf import extension in my version of Open Office, so I tried
downgrading to another version several times and keep coming up in the same
cycles of nowhere. Please help.

Thanks Glen. I have installed AOO on a PC, just looking to confirm that saving
as .docx is a feature of LibreOffice but not of OpenOffice. That's what I'm
seeing, along with what I mentioned, that AOO can save, for example, Word or
Excel files as .xml (but I'm not sure why you might want to, what the Office
2003/xml version means).

I'm hoping to reach one of the AOO developers.

Best--Paul

There is always a way to tweak things one way you can achieve this to
format the page Select the Border tab and set the Left and Right border
with the desire colour.
Set the Left and Right spacing to content to the desired value which reduce
the content space for text.
Now adjust the margins by the value set above so that the content space is
restored to the original value

Background: Lines outside margins

2017-11-18 Thread Geoffrey Hartwell
I would like to arrange a background of two single, full page height
vertical red lines, one about 2 mm outside each margin, repeating every
page.

I am sure it should be easy, but I would be glad of some help, please.
