I haven't installed the RPM package. However on the Apache OpenOffice
website I found these instructions for RPM install.

Seems you need to:
navigate to the directory the RPMs were extracted to
su to root
issue

X_64 for Linux Mageia (RPM version). I got a GZ file which I unzipped
into a folder that contained a gazillion rpm files. I don't know what to
do next. Should I ask this on a Mageia forum?

There are 2 flavours of packages for Linux, Deb and RPM. Mageia seems to
use RPM?
