You need to explain in further detail just what it is that you did for
the mail merge. I've not heard of any case whereby OpenOffice converts
and/or overwrites .dbf files to .ods format. If you can provide more
detail then perhaps another OOo user can help salvage the data and/or
tell you where your data now resides.
