Is there an error line in your vdsm.log?
Could you copy the (very long) log line with "call vmCreate" to the
mailing list?

Re: [Users] No spice connection - Remote-Viewer quits after a few seconds

2013-01-02 Thread David Jaša
Hi Dennis,

this log isn't exactly helpful either. :( Spicec just quits before it could
receive any connection info from the plugin... Could you try to set another
variable: SPICEC_LOG_LEVEL=0 and find spicec log (also in %temp%)?

Hey,

to me this looks like some generic SATA error - did you try to run a
stock Fedora on the affected machine and look if it behaves similar?

Greetings

Re: [Users] No spice connection - Remote-Viewer quits after a few seconds

2013-01-02 Thread Dennis Böck
Hi David,

I set SPICEC_LOG_LEVEL=0 rebooted the machine but no spicec log was written in
%temp%.
If I perform a search in this folder for "spice" only two files appear:
%temp%/spicex.log
%temp%/low/spicex.log
I even tried a new installation of
http://spice-space.org/download/gtk/windows/virt-viewer-0.5.3_x86.exe but
nothing changed.

Best regards
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

this log isn't exactly helpful either. :( Spicec just quits before it could
receive any connection info from the plugin... Could you try to set another
variable: SPICEC_LOG_LEVEL=0 and find spicec log (also in %temp%)?

[Users] ovirt reporting wrong cpu family

2013-01-02 Thread Jithin Raju
Hi,

I have installed ovirt 3.1 on fedora 17.
I added my node wtih intel E5-2620 (sandy bridge) to cluster.
Even though model is detected properly,CPU name is shown as Intel Conroe
family instead of sandy bridge.
Since my cluster is configured as sandy bridge i got this error:

Host fig moved to Non-Operational state as host does not meet the cluster's
minimum CPU level. Missing CPU features : model_SandyBridge.

as per cpuinfo :model name : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00GHz.

i moved the cluster to conroe ,got the host up.

[Users] pvscan error in AIO fr a new disk

2013-01-02 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I have an f18 AIO setup where the server is a guest inside updated f17 host.
The guest has a scsi disk configured this way

>From virt-manager of host I add a second scsi disk.
In guest I run

echo "- - -" > /sys/class/scsi_host/host2/scan

and I get inside it

# dmesg| tail

So that
# fdisk -l /dev/sdb

Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes

I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

But :

# pvcreate /dev/sdb
Device /dev/sdb not found (or ignored by filtering).

Could it be oVirt preventing this or should I post against F18 and/or
libvirt ?

BTW: packages are from nightly as for
ovirt-engine-3.2.0-1.20130101.git9486bfd.fc18.noarch

Probably something related with multipath default F18 config or what set up
by oVirt, as I see this in multipath.conf:

[Users] oVirt Templates // remove after a couple VMs got created is not possible ?

2013-01-02 Thread Alex Leonhardt
Hi All,

I was wondering why there is a necessity of keeping a oVirt Template ? I
just tried to remove a template but it complained that it was in use by
other VMs ? I thoguht a VM is created independently using the "Template" to
copy settings & disk from and once done is independent from the Template ?

So either way - how can I remove the Template without shutting down /
removing any of the VMs already created based on that Template ?

Thanks

Re: [Users] oVirt Templates // remove after a couple VMs got created is not possible ?

2013-01-02 Thread Maor Lipchuk
Hi Alex, if the VMs that you created used thin provisioning for the
template, then the disks of the created VM are based on the volumes of
the template images using qcow, and there for, they will be related to
this template.

If you don't want the VM to be based on the template images you can use
the resource allocation tab to configure the template provisioning. If
you will choose clone, then the VM images will create a new image which
will not be based on the template images.

I think that once the VM is based on the template, there is not much to
do, but shut down the VMs.
If you don't want to remove the VM's maybe yo can try to create a
snapshot of the VM and after that clone a VM from that snapshot, and
remove the original VM.

Regards,
Maor

Finally.

After some major issues that comes and goes I end up in a situation
where I am unable to upgrade my oVirt.

I think this is the base of my problem and if I cannot solve this I
will have strange issues for the rest

Its seems to be exact same problem as in this thread
http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2012-August/008799.html.

I run an "engine-upgrade" and got
