I am OK as the first step with a stateless node. Hey David, the stateless mode is currently not completely working with oVirt Engine. That means a Node needs to be approved each time it boots into the stateless mode. The stateless mode can be entered by appending stateless to the default kernel arguments. Hey, do you know if the data in /var/lib/glusterd needs to survive reboots? If not, then this patch http://gerrit.ovirt.org/20540 will probably fix the problem. The patch just adds that path to /etc/rwtab.d/ovirt - this will tell the read-only root to make that path writable at boot. Due to the nature of Node you will need to build your own image or wait until the patch lands in an image. Editing the rwtab file by hand at runtime won't have an effect. [Users] How to pxeboot ovrit node into memory automatically?
Hi, I was following the instructions at http://www.ovirt.org/Node_PXE. My goal is to use pxeboot (iPXE) to boot the node entirely into RAM with rootfs. What I got now is an installation screen which requires a local storage. My system has no disk and this doesn't quite work for me. What's are the kernel parameters I need to use to boot the node into RAM automatically? I am OK as the first step with a stateless node. I haven't looked into this very much, but it sounds promising. Re: [Users] [BUG] vdsm-hooks-qos
Hi, thanks for the quick fix! The code looks good, I still have no gerrit account, maybe I should create one (where and how?) I'm aware of the 3.3 features, but we still stick with 3.2.3 here. I hope we can give 3.3. another try when 3.3.1. is out, hopefully stable enough! PS: How do you get write access to the wiki? Because the hook documentation is somewhat incomplete, and I could maybe improve it already. I also found no docs on how vdsm creates network devices for the vm in libvirt (routed, switched, nat or forward mode etc.). Is there something available I am not aware of? Maybe I just looked in the wrong directions. -- Mit freundlichen Grüßen / Regards Sven Kieske Systemadministrator Mittwald CM Service GmbH & Co. [Users] Cant remove image -> Illegal Disk
Hi, There were a few posts earlier about this but none seemed to end in a resolution. When a VM is destroyed the disks don't get deleted by oVirt and are left in an "illegal" state. Manual intervention is required to delete the image and remove it from the database. This has only happened recently, but I'm not sure what broke it. I assume it's the engine which handles the deletion of the disks. Re: [Users] Management DB-Backup
Hi Sven, all, In 3.3 there is a new utility called engine-backup. Documentation is currently somewhat lacking. 'engine-backup --help' will tell you its options. As Eli implied below, there is no need to take down the engine/jboss services while backing up. Restore should be done to an empty database. Some improvements for it were merged in recently, some of them will be included in 3.3.1. -- Didi - Original Message - > From: "Eli Mesika" > To: "users@oVirt.org" > Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2013 12:54:47 PM > Subject: [Users] Management DB-Backup > > > - Original Message - > > From: "Yedidyah Bar David" > > To: "Ofer Schreiber" , "Eli Mesika" > > > > Sent: Thursday, October 24, 2013 12:13:16 PM > > Subject: Fwd: [Users] Management DB-Backup > > > > engine-backup.sh --mode=backup does not check/stop the engine/jboss and > > does not alert the user. > > > > Should it? > > No > > > > > I have zero knowledge regarding the way the engine works with the database. > > Are we completely certain that any "logical transaction" is translated > > one-to-one to a single database transaction?
