Re: [ovirt-users] Troubles after upgrading oVirt from 3.4 to 3.5

2015-10-02 Thread andy . michielsen
Hello,

I have got my oVirt back up an running.

Sadly I do not know what went wrong in the weekend but I believe reinstalling
the engine and the nodes did the trick. Also changing the mtu value in the
ifcfg-ovirtmgr to 9000 is not a good idea. But I changed that on Tuesday so
that wan't the original cause. But I really wanted my system back up and in my
search changed a lot of config files to see what would do the trick.

What let me to believe the change to the ifcfg-ovirtmgr is the fact that the
vdsm log told me my servers where not reachable in oVirt but I could reach all
server from a cli prompt just fine and even connect to the nfs shares.

Thanks a lot for the help.

Kind regards.

Is the NFS export still accessible from the hosts?
 Does it get correctly mounted?

[ovirt-users] Cannot mount gluster storage data

2015-10-02 Thread Jean-Michel FRANCOIS

Hi Ovirt users,

I'm running ovirt hosted 3.4 with gluster data storage.
When I add a new host (Centos 6.6) the data storage (as a glsuterfs)
cannot be mount.

I have the following errors in gluster client log file :

And nothing server side.

I suppose it is a version issue since on server side I have
glusterfs-api-3.6.3-1.el6.x86_64

glusterfs-libs-3.6.3-1.el6.x86_64

and on the new host :
glusterfs-3.7.4-2.el6.x86_64

glusterfs-libs-3.7.4-2.el6.x86_64

glusterfs-client-xlators-3.7.4-2.el6.x86_64
glusterfs-rdma-3.7.4-2.el6.x86_64

But since it is a production system, i'm not sure about a performing
gluster server upgrade.
Mounting a gluster volume as NFS is possible (the engine data storage
has been mounted).

I'm asking here because glusterfs comes from the ovirt3.4 rpm repository.

If anyone have a hint to this problem

thanks

Hi,
did you check the rest of the system? The name need to be unique, and you can
rename that VM on import to something else.
Often happens to people who are just trying it out and export an existing VM
and immediately try to import it back…but it's already there.

Thanks,

The patch solving this bug has been merged to the ovirt-3.6.0 two days
ago, and would be part of an rc2 build of ovirt-engine.

Until our bugzilla bots are functional again, developers are asked to
pet their bugs more often, and move the MODIFIED after merge.
Marcin, can you tend to this bug?

Annoys automated QA, but not seen in manual checks. I'm not sure it
should block ovirt-3.6.0. I'd love to hear if a lot of ovirt users use
automated scripts with no retries to setup host networking.

May cause a lot of pain if proven real. However, initial attempts did
not reproduce. Have any rc-tester bumped into something like that?

I'm not sure that this is a release blocker, even though it is a
regression.

just follow general hook docs
it should have readme and docs how to add it to custom properties

[ovirt-users] Hello, Multiple server into a single processing machine

2015-10-02 Thread Khairul Annuar Bin Nordin
Good day,
I was wondering if there is a way to configure ovirt to act as an operation
to connect multiple server as one machine.

Regarding this, the machine would detect all server processor and manage it
as one machine.

example: I have 4 server with 8 core processor each, which result as 32
core. All the 32 core should be detected under one management. Ovirt will
act as the main processing manager and in it will have multiple instance,
these instance will run on across all server with high availability and
resource sharing.

Thank you for your time, and I hope to hear from you soon.

hit Deploy.

The tui stops and I get:

An error appeared in the UI: AttributeError("'TransactionProgressDialog'

The iso file does exist and is working.

Hello Christian,

just a quick round up:

Did you still see the issue? It stopped for me after removing live
snap shots.

On 17.09.2015 07:39, Christian Hailer wrote:

Hi,

just to get it straight: most of my VMs had one or more existing

understand it correctly the BZ of Markus concerns only a short

responding in the middle of the night without any interaction...
I deleted all the snapshots, just in case :) my system is running
fine for nearly three days now, I'm not quite sure but I think it
helped that I changed the HDD and NIC of the Windows 2012 VMs to
VirtIO devices...

I think of a package similar like this:

qemu-debuginfo.x86_64 2:2.1.3-10.fc21

That allows gdb to show information about backtrace symbols. See
comment 12 of https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1262251
Makes error search much simpler - especially if qemu hangs.

Markus, thanks for the BZ. I think I do see the same issue.
Actually my VM is currently the only with a live snapshot and

There is no virtualization system that allows you to aggregate host

Yes, installing and enabling hostusb vdsm hook.

Then define a custom property called hostusb and set it
to hostusb=VendorId:ProductId getting that values from lsusb on the host.

The VM must be pinned to the host and live-migration will not be possible,

PCI and USB (USB has a libvirt permission issue currently so will probably

Hi Punit,
well…maybe you can use the DWH database? If it has the data you need you and
you only want better graphs then the reporting package just works on top of
those data…so you can use a different one instead
If you need different data then you need to get them in some other way….least
intrusive might be periodic calls to REST API to get what you need…but be
careful as REST API has a reputation of being quite slow….
If you need something faster you would need to move your data gathering closer
to the source, either directly from DB or directly form hypervisors. Obviously
the closer you try to get the implementation is increasingly more difficult and
trickier:)

but if you're looking for host system performance data you would better do it
over there…sysstat/sar or collectd…I would bypass oVirt's mechanisms and grab
it myself, then perhaps correlate other data from REST API or DWH tables. e.g.
correlating increased CPU/mem load on the host with the amount of VMs running
on that host (well, that one you can do with oVirt's stats, depends if you
need/want more low level stuff we don't have)

HTH,

Can i use the same NFS server for ISO domain i different datacenter ?
Is my case bug or technical limit ?

Re: [ovirt-users] Testing ovirt 3.6 RC

2015-10-02 Thread wodel youchi
Hi,

Just to not bother you with this problem again.

can the following be a minimum hardware to test ovirt 3.6? (I used the same
previously with 3.5)

- one machine supporting kvm
- 8 Gb RAM
- one nic card
- storage (in my case NFS4)
- 2 Gb of RAM to hosted-engine

May be I am doing things the wrong way.

thanks

 Hi,

is the problem about the VM engine not being shown on webui corrected?

I have updated my installation ovirt 3.6 beta 6 to RC (I didn't
redeploy from scratch), still the same problem

no vm engine on webui, attaching the hosted-storage to the default DC,
causes the VM engine to crash.

Do I have to redeploy from scratch?

PS: I am using NFS4 for storage.

 thanks in advance.
