Re: [ovirt-users] virt-v2v issues

2015-11-16 Thread Fernando Fuentes
Shahar,

I change the permissions on the raw file and still got the same error
message.
I also change the owner to 36:36 with the same error message.

Here is the command I am trying to use:

virt-v2v -ic qemu+ssh://mystem.net/system -o rhev -os
ovnode:/opt/exports --network ovirtmgmt meteohub

Thanks for the help.

It's mandatory on RPM installations, ovirt-engine-extension-aaa-jdbc is
installed and configured for 'internal' domain by default.

But you have a choice in development environment. By default legacy
internal provider is installed (it supports only admin user and no groups).
But if you want, you can build and install (more info at [1]) aaa-jdbc
extension into the same prefix as you install engine and after execution
of engine-setup, you can use aaa-jdbc similarly as in RPM installations.

[ovirt-users] several ovirt questions - CPU allocation, and use threads as CPU

2015-11-16 Thread Jason Keltz

Hi.

When I go to the "Clusters" in ovirt engine, I can see the total number
of VMs in the cluster. If I open up "Hosts", I can see how many VMs
are running on each host. I can see the memory consumption as well.
How do I go about seeing how many CPUs I've allocated across all the VMs
on a host? What happens if I allocate more cores than what I actually
have? If shared CPUs are possible, can I specify VMs that are allowed to
shared CPUs versus VMs that reqiure dedicated CPUs? Finally, I
presently have "Use Threads as CPUs" off. I don't remember if that was
the default, or whether I selected that option during installation. Is
there any disadvantage to turning it on? I realize that those other
cores aren't "real" cores - they're the hyper-threading course, but
it's not clear how ovirt would handle those cores. If I specify say, a
dual CPU system, would that system show up as 4 cores (2 real cores and
2 hyper-threaded cores) ?

Thanks for any help..

Jason.

[ovirt-users] oVirt 3.6 and gluster volumes

2015-11-16 Thread Richard Neuboeck
Hi,

I'm having some trouble installing oVirt 3.6 hosted engine with gluster.

First of here are the questions that arose:
Do I need separate gluster volumes for the hosted engine and the
other VMs?
If yes I'm guessing the same optimizations apply to the /engine
volume as to the other volume as described in
http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Self_Hosted_Engine_Gluster_Support

Post installation the storage tab is completely empty though I did
create an NFS ISO domain during the hosted-engine --deploy process.
Is that normal behavior?

Should the engine gluster volume be manually imported ('Import
Domain') or is this volume never visible?

If I have a separate VM volume I guess I need to create a 'New
Domain'. If I do that the over lay window in the UI that allows me
to enter the glusterfs connection details clears. I see an animated
circle in the middle but nothing happens. There is no entry in the
engine log or the in any host log. If I wait long enough the UI
terminates the session and I'm at the login again.

Last question (for now, I promise): The engine VM is not visible in
the UI. Obviously it's running or otherwise there would be no UI.
From a variety of sources I get the impression that this shouldn't
be but I'm not sure why the engine VM is not showing itself.

Sorry for so many maybe obvious questions but since I'm new to oVirt
im still stumbling around in the dark for things that do not work
according to plan. In case of what should be shown in the UI I'm
still not sure what the plan is.

To give some background information about my setup:
All machines are running up to date versions of CentOS 7.1 64bit.
I've three dedicated machines for the gluster storage. The replica 3
gluster volumes are created on top of thinly provisioned volumes.

There are three dedicated hosts for virtualization. On the first I'm
trying a hosted-engine --deploy. The other two machines are unused
since I didn't get everything working as expected.

The engine, installed during the deploy process, is installed from a
local ISO Centos image. Installation is done manually.

I've created two gists:
One listing the commands for the gluster volume:
https://gist.github.com/tbihawk/4c92dc246a64990942d3#file-ovirt-gluster-setup

One listing what I've done to install oVirt:
https://gist.github.com/tbihawk/adb0a0e7d2a081d63629#file-ovirt-installation-procedure

Any help is highly appreciated since I'm kind of stuck.
Thanks!
Richard

Here [1] is a fix. Can you please verify? To get it fixed in 3.6.z, please also
open a bug. Thanks!

Re: [ovirt-users] MAC OS

2015-11-16 Thread Ollie Armstrong
As far as I am aware, the OS X EULA requires installation to be on
Apple branded hardware. So unless you're oVirt Host is running on
Apple hardware you'd be breaking the EULA of OS X. This is likely why
it isn't part of the OS option list in oVirt.

Subject: [ovirt-users] virt-v2v error

Team,

I am trying to upload an image that I recently created under kvm and I am
getting an error:

root@darkdreams's password:

Apparently redhat has this posted on their Knowledge base under (Error
when running virt-v2v ("Permission denied")) with a solution but I do not
have access.

Does any body have any idea why this is happening?

TIA!

^^^
Hi Fernando,

The red hat bug id would have been appreciated, anyway this is the
resolution proposed

Resolution

Add the no_root_squash option to the NFS export (RHEV export domain -
/etc/exports):
/data/export*(rw,no_root_squash)

Ciao
