[ovirt-users] engine FQDN

2017-11-08 Thread 董青龙
Hi,all
I have an environment of ovirt 4.1.2.2, and the engine is hosted engine. I
used a FQDN which could be only resolved locally when the environment was
deployed. A record of the engine FQDN was added in /etc/hosts of all hosts and
engine. Now I want to change engine FQDN to another one which can be resolved
on internet. What should I do? I found that the engine could not be accessed by
IP.
Anyone can help? Thanks!___

The patch [1] is merged (thanks Alexander), and thus the next 4.2 build
will have the menu.

Best wishes,

Agreed. Otherwise it would apply 'one size fits all' as mentioned and
 that is not the case.

Applying guidelines is something very good to do, by removing stuff
that may only be 'recent trend' or 'buzz stuff' considering the audience
that will use it is even better practice. I don't think oVirt Admins can be
 considered masses in that sense.

Has anyone seen a NOC or Operating Center using Tablets or Mobile
Phones to manage their infrastructure ? No, they use Desktops/Laptops and a

[ovirt-users] Enabling libgfapi disk access with oVirt 4.2

2017-11-08 Thread Alessandro De Salvo

Hi,

I'm using the latest 4.2 beta release and want to try the gfapi access,
but I'm currently failing to use it.

My test setup has an external glusterfs cluster v3.12, not managed by oVirt.

The compatibility flag is correctly showing gfapi should be enabled with
4.2:

# engine-config -g LibgfApiSupported
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 3.6
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.0
LibgfApiSupported: false version: 4.1
LibgfApiSupported: true version: 4.2

The data center and cluster have the 4.2 compatibility flags as well.

However, when starting a VM with a disk on gluster I can still see the
disk is mounted via fuse.

Any clue of what I'm still missing?

Thanks,

   Alessandro

That’s not for concurrent console from 2 different clients, second connection
disconnects the active one. That’s not supported in SPICE and neither in VNC by
default. For VNC a vdsm hook can do the trick or use the brwser-based novnc
client which lacks the disconnect functionality so it allows you to open 2
sessions
I didn’t try it recently, but should/may work

There are also internal snapshots for 'next run” config and stateless VMs - do
you have any pending configuration changes on that VM or is it a stateless one?

Please provide more details.

You upgraded the engine vm to current 4.2 beta? yum update and engine-setup?

Then you moved a node to local maintenance, and updated it to 4.2
beta, using yum update?

Moving to global maintenance is for upgrading the engine vm, not a host.

Which documents did you follow?

Where did you find instructions to use this tool?

It's meant only for migrations from 3.6 to 4.0, not general upgrades.

AFAICT a failure at this stage should be harmless - it's before doing
significant changes to the system.

Please share the log, just in case.

Are you sure all was fine before you ran this tool?
I do not think your problems are a result of running the tool.

Not sure what your exact state is, or what is important to you and what isn't.

Are your VMs up?

Is it important to keep them up?

If not, you can reinstall everything from scratch and import the storage domain.

Otherwise, please provide more details - including relevant logs
(engine, vdsm, etc),
actions you took, etc.

Generally speaking, current 4.2 is not meant for production yet.
It's intended for people that want to see/test the new features etc.

You know, the state the VM _was_ at in March is really different to
what it is now anyways. I would just turn it off and "Commit" the "now"
state inside of the VM to it´s Current snapshot. I´m having a hard time
seeing how the state from back in March would be relevant today.

Or, you turn it off and "Undo" the operation just to get the March
snapshot back as it was, but you´ll lose how it looked like from before
you turned it off.

It plague or cholera I´m afraid, since one of these things _has_ to
happen for you to continue.

Apparently it's previewing some type of snapshot. I don't want to commit
it because it was created in March, but the error I get when I try to
delete it is:

Re: [ovirt-users] ovirtmgmt network

2017-11-08 Thread Alan Griffiths
I think you would need an IP address on IF2, otherwise the HE cannot
communicate with the host.

If you have an entry in /etc/hosts that resolves the FQDN of the host
to the IP on IF2 then I think the setup script should create the
ovirtmgmt bridge there.

Any hint or answer to my question?

I've searched around but couldn't find any answer...

Hi,

I have a question about ovirtmgmt network.

When deploying Hosted-Engine it creates ovirtmgmt bridge on top of
main nic of the host. This means the HE will be connected to the same
network as the main Host connection. Is it possible to separate those
subnet, let say I would have something like

Host:

IP: 10.0.a.b (VLAN a untagged) The host has an IP address on that
interface

GW: 10.0.a.gw

Then i would have a tagged VLAN on top of that interface :

IF2 : 10.0.c.x (VLAN c tagged) The host has no IP address on that
interface

GW: 10.0.c.gw

Would it be possible to have the HE connected on IF2, if Yes how do we
deploy such a setup?

Thanks for any hint.

If I correctly understood your question, in edit VM you have a drop down
menu like in this image:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Wk1d_4-Ye0C7s0xxYAKIG5-rIJ2M2puH/view?usp=sharing

where you can choose SPICE, VNC or SPICE+VNC

If you mean more than one user to concurrently connect to spice console of
the same VM from different clients, in the same edit window you have to
select "Advanced Parameters" and then select "Disable strict user checking"
like this:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1VfBzukJAk7-h_1W9w8oEFgvc8_KN2Rn2/view?usp=sharing

Re: [ovirt-users] Advise needed: building cheap HA oVirt cluster with just 2 physical servers

2017-11-08 Thread Artem Tambovskiy
Hi,

Can anyone share their experience on deploying hosted-engine with GlusterFS
cluster?

I managed to setup a GlusterFS cluster and started to deploy hosted engine.
At first stage I was beaten by firewall rules - the deployment process
interrupted at GlusterFS config stage.
After fixing the rules I got engine up and running, but the host is
non-operational state still. Logged in to Web UI -> and see 2 action
points: "Gluster command failed on server" and Gluster status is
disconnected for this server"

This is a bit strange, since the cluster was properly detected during
deployment and deployment script was supposed to configure the cluster.

  --== STORAGE CONFIGURATION ==--

Please specify the storage you would like to use (glusterfs,
iscsi, fc, nfs3, nfs4)[nfs3]: glusterfs
[ INFO ] Please note that Replica 3 support is required for the shared
storage.
Please specify the full shared storage connection path to use
(example: host:/path): .x.xx:/oVirt
[ INFO ] GlusterFS replica 3 Volume detected
Do you want to configure this host and its cluster for gluster?
(Yes, No) [No]: Yes
[ INFO ] GlusterFS replica 3 Volume detected

Any ideas how to fix this?

Thanks in advance!
Regards,
Artem

Re: [ovirt-users] can't migrate Windows 2012R2 VM

2017-11-08 Thread Matthias Leopold

Hi Arsene,

thanks for your feedback. I doubt that a display device driver in the
guest can be responsible for the mentioned migration problems in the
virtualization environment. Nevertheless i installed
https://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/spice-guest-tools/spice-guest-tools-latest.exe
im my Windows 2012R2 VM (the driver in your link didn't install). As i
expected this didn't fix the migration problem.

Hi Mathias,

I had a similar problem with Windows Server 2016 and could resolve it by
installing the latest driver for QXL found at
https://www.spice-space.org/download/windows/qxl-wddm-dod/qxl-wddm-dod-0.18/.
This should also work for Windows 2012R2.

Hi,

i'm experiencing reproducible problems migrating Windows 2012R2 VMs in
oVirt 4.1 environments. I can't migrate two different Windows 2012R2
VMs in two different oVirt environments. engine.log in this situation
is the same in both cases, i'm attaching it.

lines like
"Failed to destroy VM 'd4ddd4d1-2de4-4ace-900d-76552cadefb0' because
VM does not exist, ignoring"
"VM 'd4ddd4d1-2de4-4ace-900d-76552cadefb0'(ovirt-test03_win2012) was
unexpectedly detected as 'Down' on VDS 'xxx'"

don't sound too confidence-inspiring.

Windows 2008 and Windows 2016 VMs can be migrated with no problem.

- oVirt version is 4.1.6
- VirtIO drivers and oVirt guest agent in windows guest were installed
from oVirt-toolsSetup-4.1-5.fc24.iso (one VM is using VirtIO devices,
other VM isn't)
- oVirt cluster migration settings are default in a 4.1 install
(migration policy: legacy, i also tried: minimal downtime, post copy
migration, no avail...)

thx for any advice
matthias

And if it is you need to decide if you want to commit that snapshot or
undo/revert. Perhaps it was done by mistake or something….but you need to clear
it out as we don’t support cluster upgrade while snapshot preview is ongoing.

Can you check what is the status of the above VM ('mail-archive1')? Is it
previewing snapshots?
