The UI supports plugins. So you could maybe write a plugin, that would then use
the ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool.
I don't know much about UI plugins, but here is some
info:https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/appe-oVirt_User_Interface_Plugins/

Hi,
Users are not created using the UI. Ovirt can be connected to various external
user domains. The UI can then be used to assign permissions to existing users or
groups.
Here is the
documentation:https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/chap-Users_and_Roles/
The 'ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool' can be used to create users locally.

[ovirt-users] Re: Storage IO

2018-06-04 Thread Thomas Fecke
Hey Juan,

That would be perfect. Ill searching for weeks now and can´t find the Bottleneck

The Storage is attached to an 10 gig switch
Storage:

1HE 19'' Chassis mit 4 hot-swap Einschüben
600W Platinum PSU
Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 CPU
16GB DDR4-2400 regECC RAM (2x8)
4x 1TB SATA3 SSD (Samsung Pro)
LSI3108 Raidcontroller
2x Intel 10G-BaseT LAN
1x ded. KVM Port (IPMI2.0)

The Storage is attached to an 10 gig Switch. Just our Hypervisors are connected
aswell to that switch. I don't know the Switch Model, its rented from our
Hoster ( like the Hardware ).

The Data Domain is shared via NFS.

We are working a lot with Templates - so a single Template gets deployed like
20 Times. Dunno if its important. The Guests running Win 10 and Win Server 2016
- Guest tools are installed.

"Iotop" show about 100 MB/Sec

"Io sta"t show Storage Timeouts

dd if=/dev/zero of=/root/testfile bs=1G count=1 oflag=sync
1+0 Datensätze ein
1+0 Datensätze aus
1073741824 Bytes (1,1 GB) kopiert, 10,7527 s, 99,9 MB/s

DD ist way to low. When I reboot the Server its up to 800-900 MB/s. It drops
slowly to under 100 in about 5 Minutes. Like a Cache that is filling up.

RAM and CPU are fine ( maximum 50% system load - average 30% ).

File system is XFS - Raid 4 is used

Hi Thomas, so you are seeing high load on your storage and you are asking
'why'? an answer with the facts you give would be: you are using your storage,
so, you have storage IO.

so, if you want to dive deeper:
-which storage are you using, specs would be nice.
-which host model are you using?
-network specs? card model, etc. switch model, etc.

hows your setup made? iscsi? nfs? gluster?

based on the former, we might get a better idea and after this some tests could
be made if needed to find if there's a bottleneck or if the environment is
working as expected..

This is where you're making the mistake. OVA is not a real standard.

Anyway I need to see the full logs from virt-v2v to say anything more.

[ovirt-users] Re: Non-responsive vm's due to crashed host and hosted vm liveliness check fails

2018-06-04 Thread Martin Sivak
Hi all,

we decided to issue an updated package to the oVirt 4.1 repository
that should fix this for all users. We still consider 4.1 an EOL
release, but we think this upgrade path should be fixed anyway.

Metadata are refreshing as we speak. You can also download the package
manually from the repositories:

For example the URL for CentOS 7 based installation:
http://resources.ovirt.org/pub/ovirt-4.1/rpm/el7/noarch/ovirt-hosted-engine-ha-2.1.9-1.el7.noarch.rpm

Unfortunately I think that the issue is trying to run a nested env over
ESXi.
AFAIk nesting KVM VMs over ESX is still problematic.

I'd suggest to repeat the experiment nesting over KVM on L0.

[ovirt-users] Re: LDAP Authentication issues

2018-06-04 Thread Callum Smith
Dear Ondra,

I went for openldap-rfc2307 as that best describes our ldap setup. The issue
seems to be that the gidNumber is set, but users are not a member of their
primary group within the LDAP. So, user's gidNumber represents primary group
and posixGroup membership (memberUid) represents their secondary groups. What's
the best way to approach this (fix the filters on oVirt end or change the LDAP?
This is a question of what is most compliant with standards really).

Regards,
Callum

[ovirt-users] How to increase the total space of storage domain

2018-06-04 Thread Pym
Hi:

In the management page of the web, the total space of the domain added to the
storage domain page cannot specify a specific value.

The total space value is determined by a specific code function based on the
configuration parameters of the physical machine, or is it a fixed value? Is
there any way to modify this value?

After I create multiple virtual machines, this space is not enough to continue
to create virtual machines. How can I solve this problem?

Thank you.___

Put cluster in global maintenance. Update hosted engine to 4.2. Once it
comes back up put one of your hosts in maintenance mode, upgrade it then
set back to active. Do this for each host until you are done.

Hello everybody,

I wondered if one could first upgrade the engine machine before
upgrading the hosts.
Is the engine 4.2.x is backwards compatible with 4.1.x?

[ovirt-users] Re: Non-responsive vm's due to crashed host and hosted vm liveliness check fails

2018-06-04 Thread Andrej Krejcir
The local vm.conf is overriden by the configuration on the shared storage,
but the bug with VM having 4 MB of RAM instead of 4 GB is already fixed:
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1524331

Try upgrading the ovirt-hosted-engine-ha and ovirt-hosted-engine-setup
packages on the ovirt-node.
Specifically, the fix is in ovirt-hosted-engine-ha version 2.1.9

# yum upgrade ovirt-hosted-engine-ha ovirt-hosted-engine-setup

I'm not sure if the version 2.1.9 is available in ovirt-4.1 repositories.
If not, you could install the ovirt-4.1-snapshot repositories on the
ovirt-node:

# yum install
https://resources.ovirt.org/pub/yum-repo/ovirt-release41-snapshot.rpm

The snapshot repository may be a little unstable, so I would recommend
upgrading hosts to 4.2, when the engine is running.

Hi,
I'm currently running oVirt with a self hosted engine configuration on an Intel
NUC. All of my VMs are on my home 192.168.1.0/24 network, but I want to set up
a completely isolated network like VirtualBox has
(https://blogs.oracle.com/scoter/virtualbox-host-only). The NUC that I have

I tried that with the below example. I couldn't find a good guide or doc on

Upstream QEMU builds against any librbd version that exports the
necessary APIs.

The choice of library versions is mostly up to distro package
maintainers.

Have you filed a bug against Ceph on the distro you are using?

The UI supports plugins. So you could maybe write a plugin, that would then use
the ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool.
I don't know much about UI plugins, but here is some
info:https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/appe-oVirt_User_Interface_Plugins/

Hi,
Users are not created using the UI. Ovirt can be connected to various external
user domains. The UI can then be used to assign permissions to existing users or
groups.
Here is the
documentation:https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/admin-guide/chap-Users_and_Roles/
The 'ovirt-aaa-jdbc-tool' can be used to create users locally.

Above playbook runs fine, but when i see summary using ovirt4.py, i do
not see ipaddr for this test vm.

 - I do not see the ipaddr for this VM despite specifying it using
