Spice HTML5 was removed many versions back. I believe it was no longer
being maintained and there wasn't much interest.

2018-10-11 Thread Staniforth, Paul
Hello Greg,

Although the Normal/Legacy view is the default if we create a
new VM it loads the Dashboard View.

Also I though in the VM machines list we should have a filter and sort option,
we are running 1.4.3-1

Sorry about this -- it was an oversight. If you pull the latest version
(ovirt-web-ui 1.4.3), this should be fixed.

Hello!
Users cannot edit and expand VM's disks from the User Portal after 4.2 upgrade
anymore.
VM UI screenshot attached.
Users can press Edit icon, but only "Editing" appears and nothing more.
Same thing happens under admin's accounts on User Portal.

How can we fix this issue, so users can edit they VM from the User Portal as it
was in 4.1 ?
Thanks.

[ovirt-users] How Many Logical networks supported

2018-10-11 Thread p . staniforth
Hello,
We are currently using oVirt for teaching and one of our requirements
is for security such as IR PEN testing etc. We would like to create individual
logical networks with a network profile that includes port mirroring, this is
to reduce the amount of traffic they can see and the targets available.

We are looking to to add VMs into Affinity Groups so they will run on the same
host to make the port-mirror work but don't no if there is a limit on the
number of logical networks that is allowed/practical.

Thanks,

In the first step the configuration of ovirtmgmt on the 3rd node has to
be synchronized. If you hover ovirtmgmt in the "Setup Host 3rd
Networks", you see a list of settings which has to be adjusted. Each
setting can be configured manually or the "Sync All Networks" button in
"Compute >> Hosts >> 3rd >> Network Interfaces" can be used.
But if the hostname (FQDN or IP address) used to add the host to oVirt
does not match the desired configuration, this might not work.
For this reason I recommend to:
1. Put the host in maintenance state
2. Remove the host from oVirt
3. Configure manually em1 (or em2 or bond0) to use the desired IP
address and VLAN for ovirtmgmt network
4. Add the host to oVirt using this IP address as hostname
5. Configure all attributes of ovirtmgmt, which are marked as
   "Out-of-sync" via oVirt
6. ovirtmgmt should be synchronized now, so public can now be added to
the same interface (em1, em2 or bond0 if bonded), if public has
   another VLAN tag

> The Logical Network configurations are the same in all 3 networks., please
> check the logical configurations in attached scrnshot2.png file
>

Not really, the configuration shown in scrnshot2.png is not valid, because it
is not allowed to attach two logical networks with the same VLAN id
(VLAN 20) to the same NIC/bond.
Maybe ovirtmgmt configuration on the host is configured like public
should be?

[ovirt-users] Resizing ovirt-engine disk

2018-10-11 Thread Baptiste Agasse
Hi all,

We have a running ovirt installation on a SAN backend (installed in 4.0 via
appliance, then updated to 4.1 and now in 4.2). At installation time we choose
(or didn't change) the disk size and this one is about 10GB:

fdisk -l /dev/vda

Disk /dev/vda: 10.7 GB, 10737418240 bytes, 20971520 sectors
Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
Disk label type: dos
Disk identifier: 0x000686fc

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/vda1 *20482097151910484736 83 Linux

Can we grow the ovirt-engine disk like any other managed VM ?

And if not, how can we grow the ovirt-engine disk out of standard installation
procedure ?

Have a nice day.

Cheers.

Baptiste.

The physical interface (or bridge) which has the IP address used to add
the host is used for ovirtmgmt during the initial host setup.
For some reason oVirt does not detect the NIC or birdge which has the expected
IP address.
Is there an physical interface on the host with the IP address used to add
the host to oVirt?
Would you please share the line containing
[api.host] FINISH getCapabilities return
of /var/log/vdsm.log on the host and the IP address used to add the host to
oVirt?

OVN will not work, because the ovn-controller on the host has to
connect to ovn-central on Engine's host.
To prevent ovn-controller to try to connect to the ovn-central, the
default network provider should be disabled in this cluster.

[ovirt-users] Re: Resizing ovirt-engine disk

2018-10-11 Thread Vojtech Juranek
Hi,

> Can we grow the ovirt-engine disk like any other managed VM ?

I assume you mean hosted engine. No, unfortunately this is not possible right
now. Today I proposed a patch [1] which should fix it.

> And if not, how can we grow the ovirt-engine disk out of standard
> installation procedure ?

it's possible, but includes calling vdsm client directly and editing the
database, so I'd recommend to avoid it.

Cheers
Vojta

Ah.. crude.. yeah the node is behind a nat too, so it's probably looking at the
public ip and can't find it so errors out.

I'll send you an email directly with this line, I'm not to keen on letting our
subnets be shown on the net, but you can share among the rhel team if need be.

Based on your last comment in the response i'll bet that being behind the nat
answers my issue in general. Supplying the logs anyway for sanity but i'm
betting that because i'm initiating the update of the logical networks from the
GUI it takes a different approach to push down the changes than the initial
setup? The more I think about it the less sense it makes since it SHOULD use
the same delivery methods, no?

And before anyone calls me ridiculous for having this connectivity go through a
nat on both sides, I know, I inherited the methodology and am trying to work
within confines that I am allowed.

Anywho, here goes, thanks for the reply appreciate the feedback GREATLY.

Ack, host behind the nat does not work, the IP address of NIC or bridge
on the node has to match the IP address used to add the node in Engine.

No, but the initial setup fails to detect the NIC or bridge to
configure.

I regret that nat on both sides will not work.

Hah.. Confirmed what I figured, thank you. I'll chalk it up to a bug(?) that i
can get the network working if I use the GUI, in the future if something goes
sideways i'll start with it being behind a NAT, first.

Thanks for taking the time Dominik.
