[ovirt-users] Re: "Upgrade" from oVirt to RHV

2019-05-22 Thread Luca 'remix_tj' Lorenzetto
Hello,

I'd create a new engine wirh rhv, move to maintenance/detach an host and
reinstall with rhv. Then detach one by one storage domains on ovirt and
attach to rhv, importing the vms.

This should work.

You were correct. After a ...

Thanks for taking a look.

I've tried again to deploy an hyperconverged engine node on freshly installed
hosts. Unfortunately it seems to be the very same issue again.

> I can't tell what's going wrong here. It looks a bit like this:

This relates to /tmp but as far as I can see the initial engine VM resides in
/var/tmp before it's supposed to be deployed to storage. I'm not sure what
Ansible checks exactly (when waiting for the engine to come up) but the
temporary entry in /etc/hosts (on the host) is present, I can ping and ssh into
the engine VM through the bridge and from engine back to the host.

[ovirt-users] Re: Engine restore errors out on "Wait for OVF_STORE disk content"

2019-05-22 Thread Andreas Elvers
No need to worry. I'm so much impressed with the quality of oVirt. It has so
many different setup scenarios, mine even a tech preview style one ;-)

And good idea to file a bug for usability. To wrap things up:

Me typing Luise1 instead of Luise01 was my error to begin with. It triggered
everything. Luise01 is our hyper converged oVirt node cluster. It is our ceph
bootstrap. Yeah... How could you forget the zero..

node01, node02 and node03 are forming Luise01.

I ordered deployment of the engine to node01 on Luise1 and hosted-engine
happily did so. Creating a new cluster Luise1 on node01 masking the glusterfs
bricks on node01 for the remaining Luise01 cluster nodes.

This most probably also triggered this issue:
https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/thread/L3YCRPRAGPUMBZIBFOPT6L4B7H4M6HLS/

It has already been addressed by Nir Soffer. See
https://lists.ovirt.org/archives/list/users@ovirt.org/message/OSZGHT65OUUSGKTLYKJVZPVRFTBPI3EO/

I will create a bug report for that. A node that has already joined a cluster
should not be a viable destination for an engine deployment to a new to create
cluster.

Hello Paulo,

the guide is the right one. You have to create in advance networks and
compile a mapping file saying which network name to use on disaster
recovery site. I know that in case of FC storage i had to map the lun
in advance before starting recovery. I don't know if there is
something automated in the ansible recovery role.

Sorry that I didn't follow all the threads. It sounds like you went
through a lot of hard-work with your oVirt setups lately :-(

If you can now take the time, and think about changes/improvements
that would have helped you, or (more importantly) prevent you from
doing some mistakes you did, please open RFEs/bugs.

I'll also discuss restore with Simone in private, we might come up
with our own RFE.

Thanks and best regards,

[ovirt-users] "Upgrade" from oVirt to RHV

2019-05-22 Thread Vinícius Ferrão
Hello,

I would like to know if there’s a supported path to move from oVirt to RHV.

oVirt is running on version 4.3.0.4-1.el7.
RHV would be version 4.3.3.7-0.1.el7.

I was thinking in reinstalling a host with RHV 4.3 and adding it to the oVirt
HE. Move all the VM’s to the RHV host and than do the same process. After it
install a new RHVH-M to remove the oVirt Engine. Not sure if this would work or
not.

Thanks,

[ovirt-users] Active-Passive Disaster Recovery

2019-05-22 Thread Paulo Silva
Hi,

I want to setup an Active-Passive between 2 sites using oVirt 4.3.

For now I have a primary site with an ovirt-engine, 2 ovirt hosts and 5 VMs
in an iscsi storage.
The backup site will have an ovirt-engine with 2 ovirt hosts and an iscsi
storage that will will have the same LUNs of the primary replicated.

I'm reading the DR Guide (
https://ovirt.org/documentation/disaster-recovery-guide/), in the backup
site do I need to manually create the storage domains and the VM networks
or will the ansible playbook take care of that?

I took it all down after testing.  Just saying there should be a way to have

that point where I switched all datacenters to 4.3 compatibility and before
doing any engine migration. Lucky me, I had that backup available.

I think my backups became corrupted, because I did a backup from the engine

Ah okay. since you are using VDO, the fstab entry should look something
like this:

UUID=4f1f2e90-5a22-4995-9dd4-7ab9a7ddb438 /gluster_bricks/engine xfs
inode64,noatime,nodiratime,_netdev,x-systemd.device-timeout=0,x-systemd.requires=vdo.service
0 0

That is what gluster-ansible will be adding to the fstab file. This entry
will be added if you had used the
variable gluster_infra_vdo ... How did you create your filesystem, is it
manually or using the deploy script?
