[ovirt-users] Re: Host fails to enter in maintenance due to migration failure

2020-04-13 Thread eevans
A separate migration network wouldn’t help you. I’m trying to figure out why it
would be stuck migrating one vm for 20 hours. Something has to be preventing it.

What is your setup? Have you looked at the engine.log or the vm log in
/var/log/libvirt/qemu/.log?

Hi Eric, thanks for the reply.

Actually putting the host to activate did stopped the maintenance and aborted
the migration. Thank you for that.

Regarding the segregated motion network, I don’t have additional physical
interfaces, I can only do it on a VLAN. I don’t know if this would help…

The attached picture shows my networks.

Hello,

I’ve a host that’s preparing to maintenance for almost 20 hours now.

There’s a huge VM on it, with 32 gigs of RAM and this VM is failing migration.

So, there’s a way to cancel prepare for maintenance, so the host can stop
trying this migration that’s end up failing?

I can just shutdown the VM to do the maintenance on the host...

Thanks,

Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't Ovirt an HA cluster? I assume pacemaker
would be for specific apps like httpd or database, correct? Gluster is more of
a distributed file system. I'm just wondering with the performance complaints
with gluster if there wouldn't be a better solution.

Just thinking out loud.

if I'm not mistaken, these two have different purposes: gluster(fs) is a

[ovirt-users] engine certificate problems in MacOS Catalina

2020-04-13 Thread Jayme
I recently setup a new ovirt environment using latest 4.3.9 installer. I
can't seem to get the novnc client to work for the life of me in safari or
chrome on MacOS catalina.

I have downloaded the CA from the login page and imported it into keychain
and made sure it was fully trusted. In both system and login keychains.

Looking at this: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT210176 seems to suggest
that the certificate may be invalid if the issue date is longer than 825
days. The certificate generated by ovirt installer seems to be valid for 5
years. I'm not sure if this is the issue or something else is wrong but if
cert length is a problem is there a way for me to re-regenerate a new
certificate with a shorter issue period?

[ovirt-users] One more time

2020-04-13 Thread eevans
I have thought about the issue with Windows vm's reporting the timezone
incorrectly. I reaqlized that just last month, before I created my vm's that
the Daylight Savings Time took affect moving our time up 1 hour. SO, based on
that, instead of setting my time zone to US Eastern (GMT -5), I set it to SA
Western (GMT -4) and the nasty exclamation mark disappeared.
This tells me that DST (Daylight Savings Time) is not an option or configurable
in Ovirt. I think this should be an easy fix for those of use that are stuck
with it.
I don't think the rest of the world participates in DST but most of the United
States does. It would be nice to have those zones added as a configurable
option that would switch on the dates it is nationally indicated to change.

I hope the developers read this.
Thanks.

Not yet. There was the issue with glusterfs storage domain and storage domain
blocksize probe check.

This is addressed with a new ioprocess-1.4.1 package for the bug[1].

We are testing currently with this fix and it works well. But hitting yet
another issue, where Hosted Engine deployment

fails at the very last stage in the deployment. Gluster developer is looking in
to it, as I respond here.

Soon we will have a working build and I will let you once these issues are
settled.

Thanks for the message. Looking through the logs I saw references to the
blocksize but since that is contained in the ansible scripts which get
downloaded to the host I gave up finding the source versions to try to see it I
could get it going beyond that failing step.

Anyway, thanks for informing me,

It’s not going to work from 3.5 to 4.3 directly

[ovirt-users] Re: oVirt thrashes Docker network during installation

2020-04-13 Thread Jp
KubeVirt. https://kubevirt.io/

Otherwise, your hosts are managing VMs as threads and containers as threads,
side-by-side, without awareness of conflict.

Ex: dockerd expects to manage its network for containers, and oVirt expects to
manage a network (bridge) for VMs. Docker will be expecting to have iptables
work for it, and then oVirt too! https://docs.docker.com/network/, and
https://www.ovirt.org/documentation/installing_ovirt_as_a_standalone_manager_with_local_databases/#general-requirements

You'll have to manage the conflicts yourself without KubeVirt.

If I understand correctly, you are talking about the storage replication
that performed on the storage layer.
This question should refer to the Gluster team/community.

First, I suggest you to use the python scripts that help you to automate
the DR process, you can find them under -
../your-dr-folder/files  -> please use './ovirt-dr -h' to see the
available options.

According to the error, it seems like maybe you didn't wait for the sanlock
lease to expire, you must wait around 80 seconds before you are trying to
use it.
