Is there an error line in your vdsm.log?
Could you copy the (very long) log line with call vmCreate to the
mailing list?

Re: [Users] No spice connection - Remote-Viewer quits after a few seconds

2013-01-02 Thread David Jaša
Hi Dennis,

this log isn't exactly helpful either. :( Spicec just quits before it could
receive any connection info from the plugin... Could you try to set another
variable: SPICEC_LOG_LEVEL=0 and find spicec log (also in %temp%)?

David

 Einav,

 Dennis's previous logs suggest that he's using spicex/IE/windows, not
 xpi/firefox/linux.

 Dennis,

 could you go through my last week conversation with Karli Sjöberg and repeat
 the debugging steps described there?

 David

  Hi Dennis,

  We need some more information that can be useful to us in order to try
  solving the problem.
  Can you please follow the instructions below for getting more detailed logs
  and reply with the results?

  1. Set spice-xpi log level to DEBUG (for versions 2.8, modify
  logger.ini).

  2. Verify which client is running (we should get that from 1), e.g.
  by using top, or checking alternatives.

  3. Getting version: rpm -q spice-xpi virt-viewer spice-client

  4. client/remote-viewer logs:

For spicec, there should be a file ~/.spicec/spicec.log

For remote-viewer:
  In order to also get log messages of remote-viewer, run firefox from
  shell.
  For debug level log messages, the following environment variables should
  be set, for example
  $ export SPICE_DEBUG=1
  $ export G_DEBUG_MESSAGES=all
  $ firefox

  Thanks,
  Einav

I set SPICEC_LOG_LEVEL=0 rebooted the machine but no spicec log was written in
%temp%.
If I perform a search in this folder for spice only two files appear:
%temp%/spicex.log
%temp%/low/spicex.log
I even tried a new installation of
http://spice-space.org/download/gtk/windows/virt-viewer-0.5.3_x86.exe but
nothing changed.

Best regards
Dennis

Hi Dennis,

this log isn't exactly helpful either. :( Spicec just quits before it could
receive any connection info from the plugin... Could you try to set another
variable: SPICEC_LOG_LEVEL=0 and find spicec log (also in %temp%)?

 Einav,

 Dennis's previous logs suggest that he's using spicex/IE/windows, not
 xpi/firefox/linux.

 Dennis,

 could you go through my last week conversation with Karli Sjöberg and repeat
 the debugging steps described there?

  For debug level log messages, the following environment variables should
  be set, for example
  $ export SPICE_DEBUG=1
  $ export G_DEBUG_MESSAGES=all
  $ firefox

Hi,

I have installed ovirt 3.1 on fedora 17.
I added my node wtih intel E5-2620 (sandy bridge) to cluster.
Even though model is detected properly,CPU name is shown as Intel Conroe
family instead of sandy bridge.
Since my cluster is configured as sandy bridge i got this error:

Host fig moved to Non-Operational state as host does not meet the cluster's
minimum CPU level. Missing CPU features : model_SandyBridge.

as per cpuinfo :model name  : Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2620 0 @ 2.00GHz.

i moved the cluster to conroe ,got the host up.

[Users] pvscan error in AIO fr a new disk

2013-01-02 Thread Gianluca Cecchi
Hello,
I have an f18 AIO setup where the server is a guest inside updated f17 host.
The guest has a scsi disk configured this way
disk type='file' device='disk'
  driver name='qemu' type='qcow2'/
  source file='/var/lib/libvirt/images/f18e.img'/
  target dev='sda' bus='scsi'/
  address type='drive' controller='0' bus='0' target='0' unit='0'/
/disk

From virt-manager of host I add a second scsi disk.
In guest I run

echo - - -  /sys/class/scsi_host/host2/scan

and I get inside it

# dmesg| tail

Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes

I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

But :

# pvcreate /dev/sdb

Could it be oVirt preventing this or should I post against F18 and/or

[Users] oVirt Templates // remove after a couple VMs got created is not possible ?

2013-01-02 Thread Alex Leonhardt
Hi All,

I was wondering why there is a necessity of keeping a oVirt Template ? I
just tried to remove a template but it complained that it was in use by
other VMs ? I thoguht a VM is created independently using the Template to
copy settings disk from and once done is independent from the Template ?

So either way - how can I remove the Template without shutting down /
removing any of the VMs already created based on that Template ?

Thanks

Re: [Users] oVirt Templates // remove after a couple VMs got created is not possible ?

2013-01-02 Thread Maor Lipchuk
Hi Alex, if the VMs that you created used thin provisioning for the
template, then the disks of the created VM are based on the volumes of
the template images using qcow, and there for, they will be related to
this template.

If you don't want the VM to be based on the template images you can use
the resource allocation tab to configure the template provisioning. If
you will choose clone, then the VM images will create a new image which
will not be based on the template images.

I think that once the VM is based on the template, there is not much to
do, but shut down the VMs.
If you don't want to remove the VM's maybe yo can try to create a
snapshot of the VM and after that clone a VM from that snapshot, and
remove the original VM.

Regards,
Maor

  Hi

  I tried these syntax :
  'macadress':'profile'
  macadress:profile
  macadress:profile

 The custom property you enter in the UI should look like this:

 {'00:1a:4a:1f:96:01':'p1p'}

 for additional mappings, what you write in the UI is as follows:

 {'$MAC':'$PROFILE','$MAC1':'PROFILE1','MAC2':'PROFILE2'}

 This strictly follows the python dictionary syntax, and it fails, because
 the syntax requires curly braces

  With macadress the mac adresse generic format : aa:aa:aa:aa:aa:aa
  And the profile the name I set un UCs : p1p

To complete the upgrade (last line) I have to restart jboss-as service

I hope someone can help, but since you are using rpms which we have no
idea which patches they include, etc, it is a bit hard.
(i.e., iiuc, its from a specific distro, maintaining backports of
patches on its own)

I think this is the base of my problem and if I cannot solve this I
will have strange issues for the rest

Its seems to be exact same problem as in this thread
http://lists.ovirt.org/pipermail/users/2012-August/008799.html.

I run an engine-upgrade and got

I had a similar problem with 3.1 and E5-2670's. The 3.2 alpha works
fine though.

i think a libvirt bug not detecting the model correctly (vdsm collects
the list of models detect by libvirt and appends them to the cpu flags
string - here model_Conroe).
