When you say edit, you say with vm powered off? Or is it a parameter I
can change dynamically?
In the first case, this means a running vm you can only connect to it
one mode and power off if you want to change?

In the mean time I powered off and changed the configuration and set
to vnc but it seems it didn't work.
I get the message regarding ip:port and password in web admin portal,

[Users] Samples Portal for Ovirt

2013-02-04 Thread Shahar Havivi
Hey,
I've recently developed sample User portals written on top of the SDK (Python
and Java),
and Ruby on top of rbovirt (partial REST bindings on top of the oVirt engine).
All these examples are placed in the samples-userportal git:
http://gerrit.ovirt.org/gitweb?p=samples-portals.git

Each language portal have its own README file that explain how to run the
server, the Ruby and Python are self serving application, the java portal is
hosted in JBoss.

You can use them as additional examples on how to use the SDK for basic VM
operations,

Shahar Havivi.

Re: [Users] adding multiple interfaces with different networks

2013-02-04 Thread Mike Kolesnik
- Original Message -

 Hi
Hi Kevin,

I've tested to uncheck the box vm network on ovirt 3.2 and there is
an error message saying that the interface must be remove on all
hosts (hypervisor) that are using it.
The VM network is separate from the admin network, so I sound like a
 bug :(
It isn't a bug, it is a check that is being made to make sure nothing will
break if you change a network's property (VM or not, the VLAN ID, the MTU).
If you have a host that already has this network set-up on it, then it will
become unsynchronized with the logical definition of the network, meaning that
it might fail to run your VMs.

This is why it states that in order to change any of these properties, you need
to remove the network from the host.

If you want to change these properties on a management network, then the data
center that has this network mustn't have any hosts when you change the
properties.

Mike

   Hi

I have exactly the same issue.

This mean that a 1Gb (at least) interface must be dedicated to
   the
ovirtmgmt interface, which is not a good idea.

Can you please try marking the ovirtmgmt network as non-vm
  network,
syncing it with the hosts, and then try to add VLAN networks on the
  same bond (or interface)?

You should probably do this with latest versions of oVirt/VDSM.

Re: [Users] Problem with libvirt

2013-02-04 Thread Juan Jose
Hello Antonio,

Could you indicate to me how I can connect to this #vdsm irc channel,
please?, I have seen in the ovirt page, community, IRC, but it doesn't
explain anything about how to connect. I have the ircII client in my Debian
box but I guess that it is necessary the host and port number. Is it
possible that host was irc.freenode.net?, and what is the port number and
the user to connect?

Thanks,

Juanjo.

So then testing it with '+ssh' does not help much. But at least we know

Also during p2p migration the source libvirt daemon can't ask you for
the password, but when not using p2p the client is connecting to the
destination, thus being able to ask for the password and/or use
  different ssh keys.

But it looks like none of this has anything to do with the problem as:

   1) as you found out, changing vdsm versions makes the problem go
  away/appear and

I've missed this point. Which version of vdsm makes it go away?

Sorry, I've got it stuck in my head that part of the thread was about
it, but when going through the mail now it makes less sense than before.
I probably understood that from [1] and maybe some other sentence that
mixed in my head, but was related to the ssh migration.

 Sorry for that,

Re: [Users] adding multiple interfaces with different networks

2013-02-04 Thread Kevin Maziere Aubry
Hi

Ovirt: 3.2

I agree, I removed it on a DC that has no host and the option on the
network tree is removed.
But when I add host to the DC again, and edit their network interface, the
ovirtgmgt is seen with the vm icon.
And the ovirtmgmt is configured has static, and I can't change that.
Also the ovirtmgmt network is mark unsynchronized, I don't know what it
mean and how to fix it
http://www.ovirt.org/SetupNetworks_SyncNetworks#How_to_Sync_Network.3F
Also I can't add a network to the host, I have no error message, but in
events I can see
Bridged network Internet is attached to multiple interfaces: UNKNOWN on
Host node2.
Host node1's following network(s) are not synchronized with their Logical
Network configuration: ovirtmgmt.
So I think that unsync network cause all my trouble.

 Hi

 Hi Kevin,

I've tested to uncheck the box vm network on ovirt 3.2 and there is an
error message saying that the interface must be remove on all hosts
 (hypervisor) that are using it.
The VM network is separate from the admin network, so I sound like a bug :(

It isn't a bug, it is a check that is being made to make sure nothing will
break if you change a network's property (VM or not, the VLAN ID, the
 MTU).
If you have a host that already has this network set-up on it, then it
will become unsynchronized with the logical definition of the network,
meaning that it might fail to run your VMs.

This is why it states that in order to change any of these properties, you
need to remove the network from the host.

If you want to change these properties on a management network, then the
data center that has this network mustn't have any hosts when you change
 the properties.

 Regards,
 Mike

 Hi

I have exactly the same issue.
This mean that a 1Gb (at least) interface must be dedicated to the
ovirtmgmt interface, which is not a good idea.

Can you please try marking the ovirtmgmt network as non-vm network,
syncing it with the hosts, and then try to add VLAN networks on the same
 bond (or interface)?

You should probably do this with latest versions of oVirt/VDSM.

and my .ovirtshellrc is:

I tried putting the ca_cert = path to cert but that clearly was not

Re: [Users] Data Center is being initialized, please wait for initialization to complete

2013-02-04 Thread Tim Hildred
Hey Alex,

I used to have a similar problem a while back on an NFS data domain. Any time I
did a large file operation (create template, export vm, import vm), I got that
message, and had to wait until the SPM was re-assigned. I replaced my raid
controller card, and the problem went away. I was able to isolate the problem
by creating a new data domain using an external USB hard drive, and showing
that it no longer happened on the new domain.

Might be unrelated, but also might be something worth checking out to see if
you can rule out your storage as the cause of the problem.

Good luck!

Subject: [Users] Data Center is being initialized, please wait for
 initialization to complete

 Hi,

Occasionally, mainly after doing larger disk operations, I see this :

Data Center is being initialized, please wait for initialization to
 complete

and then the SPM host changes ...

I didnt see any particular load on that server at the time it
happened - I simply told it to delete some VMs from a export domain.

 Any clues ?

 Alex

Re: [Users] 3.2 beta and IPA domain question

2013-02-04 Thread Tim Hildred
After Users from this domain can be granted permissions from the Web
administration interface. Maybe we should add or the domain should
be added/editted with the -addPermissions option.

 What do you think?

I think that, by the time this message is shown, the domain has been added. No
point in telling about how the domain _could_ have been added. Something like
Users from this domain can be granted permissions from the Web administration
interface, or by passing the -addPermissions flag to engine-manage-domains.

 A question about this -
Do you think the message printed to the user (after the domain is
added without -addPermissions) should be extended and have addition
 line like

  Hello,
I seem to remember in RHEV 3.0 that when you configured an IPA
  domain,
its admin was automatically configured as an admin for RHEV itself.
Is it true and in case does remain true for oVirt?

I configured IPA as shipped on CentOS 6.3+updates
  ipa-server-2.2.0-17.el6_3.1.x86_64

I successfully added it to y oVirt 3.2 beta setup

  [root@f18engine ~]# engine-manage-domains -action=add
  -domain=LOCALDOMAIN.LOCAL -user=admin -provider=IPA -interactive
  Enter password:

The domain localdomain.local has been added to the engine as an
authentication source but no users from that domain have been
  granted
  permissions within the oVirt Manager.
Users from this domain can be granted permissions from the Web
  administration interface.
oVirt Engine restart is required in order for the changes to take
  place (service ovirt-engine restart).
  Manage Domains completed successfully

  Then
  [root@f18engine ~]# systemctl try-restart ovirt-engine.service
  [root@f18engine ~]# systemctl status ovirt-engine.service
  ovirt-engine.service - oVirt Engine
   Loaded: loaded (/usr/lib/systemd/system/ovirt-engine.service;
   enabled)

  Engine.

Now from web admin portal I can choose the localdomain.local
  domain
  in drop down menu.
But when I try to enter the webadmin portal I get:

User is not authorized to perform this action.

Do I need to grant IPA admin user from internal admin before, or
  should it just work?

[Users] Stuck disk

2013-02-04 Thread Jason Lawer
Hi,

I appear to have 2 VMs that were in the process of being removed from my ovirt
3.1 system when the SPM role shifted to another node and it appears that the
disks were removed from the iSCSI LVM Volume Group but oVirt seems to believe
that it still exists.

I can't remove these from the UI anymore as they fail and I am getting a log
entry on the SPM node indicating that the disk cannot be found.

Can someone give me an idea of how to remove these disks (I am assuming I will
need to remove the records from the DB).

Thanks in Advance,

Jason Lawer

I'm using ovirt-3.2beta on Fed18 and don't have that file either but I
do have /usr/share/ovirt-engine/engine.ear/lib/spring-beans.jar which is
a link to /usr/share/java/springframework/spring-beans.jar
