the logs you should be looking at are engine.log and vdsm.log. perhaps your logs have rotated so you cannot see the errors or the events in the event log were caused by something else which you are not looking for. In the event log you have a time stamp so you can see what time the event was

Sandro, I've removed dreyou's repo and used ovirt stable. As conflicts were detected in the ovirt-engine-setup reinstall, I had to remove ovirt-engine and install it back from ovirt's repo so I now have the latest rpms and engine-upgrade won't upgrade the database. So now the situation is that I h
