've been there! :-D

I mean exactly same issuse you had on Centos, I had on Fedora 19.
Did you disable selinux on nodes? 'cause that's what is causing SSh
connection closing

My setup:

1 engine on vmware - fedora 19, up-to-date

2 nodes on IBM x series 3650 - fedora 19 based -oVirt Node - 3.0.3 -
1.1.fc19 with nodes beig in glusterfs cluster also.

Right now, I'm banging my head against "Operation Add-Disk failed to
complete." , message I have got after adding a new virtual machine and try
to addd its disk

[Users] xfs options for gluster storage

2014-01-16 Thread Alexandr
Hi!

I want to build small gluster storage with two nodes, 2x3Tb HDD in
md-mirror on each. What parameters should I use in mkfs.xfs for optimal
perfomance with ovirt? Should I use "-s size=4k" or something else?

Hello,
revamping here
I'm using oVirt 3.3.3 beta1 after upgrade from 3.3.2 on fedora 19
ovirt beta repo
It seems bug referred by Vijay (1017289) is still marked as
"assigned", but actually it is for rhel 6.
Bug referred by Dan (1022961) is marked as "blocked" but I don't see
any particular updates since late november. But it is for rhevm, so I
think it is for rhel 6...
So what is the situation for fedora 19 and oVirt in upcoming 3.3.3?
And upcoming fedora 19/20 and 3.4?

I ask because I see that in my qemu command line generated by oVirt there is:

for virtio (virtio-blk) disk
-drive
file=/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/node01.mydomain:gvdata/d0b96d4a-62aa-4e9f-b50e-f7a0cb5be291/images/a5e4f67b-50b5-4740-9990-39deb8812445/53408cb0-bcd4-40de-bc69-89d59b7b5bc2,if=none,id=drive-virtio-disk0,format=raw,serial=a5e4f67b-50b5-4740-9990-39deb8812445,cache=none,werror=stop,rerror=stop,aio=threads

for virtio-scsi disk
-drive
file=/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/node01.mydomain:gvdata/d0b96d4a-62aa-4e9f-b50e-f7a0cb5be291/images/c1477133-6b06-480d-a233-1dae08daf8b3/c2a82c64-9dee-42bb-acf2-65b8081f2edf,if=none,id=drive-scsi0-0-0-0,format=raw,serial=c1477133-6b06-480d-a233-1dae08daf8b3,cache=none,werror=stop,rerror=stop,aio=threads

So it is referred as mount point and not gluster:// way
Also, the output of "mount" command on hypervisors shows:

node01.mydomain:gvdata on
/rhev/data-center/mnt/glusterSD/node01.mydomain:gvdata type
fuse.glusterfs
(rw,relatime,user_id=0,group_id=0,default_permissions,allow_other,max_read=131072)
fusectl on /sys/fs/fuse/connections type fusectl (rw,relatime)

and it seems indeed fuse mount, so not using libgfapi...
output of
"lsof -Pp pid" where pid is the qemu process shows libgfapi:

qemu-syst 2057 qemu mem REG 253,0 99440
541417 /usr/lib64/libgfapi.so.0.0.0

(btw: strange version 0.0.0 for a release.. not so reassuring ;-)
# ll /usr/lib64/libgfapi.so.0*
lrwxrwxrwx. 1 root root17 Jan  7 12:45 /usr/lib64/libgfapi.so.0 ->
libgfapi.so.0.0.0
-rwxr-xr-x. 1 root root 99440 Jan 3 13:35 /usr/lib64/libgfapi.so.0.0.0
)

At page http://www.gluster.org/category/qemu/ there is a schema about
mount types and benchmarks

1) FUSE mount
2) GlusterFS block driver in QEMU (FUSE bypass)
3) Base (VM image accessed directly from brick)
(
qemu-system-x86_64 –enable-kvm –nographic -smp 4 -m 2048 -drive
file=/test/F17,if=virtio,cache=none => /test is brick directory
)

I have not understood if we are in Base (best performance) or FUSE
(worst performance)

thanks in advance for clarifications and possible roadmaps...

Nothing easier than that, use a hook: http://www.ovirt.org/VDSM-Hooks

Re: [Users] Horrid performance during disk I/O

2014-01-16 Thread Blaster

I finally found time to switch from virtio-scsi to virtio. Seems to have make
a big difference.

The windows VMs boot faster, web pages load faster, same with the Fedora 20
VMs.
Everything just feels smoother.

I found this interesting presentation:
http://events.linuxfoundation.org/sites/events/files/slides/CloudOpen2013_Khoa_Huynh_v3.pdf

Claims virtio blk and scsi are the same speed. Although, it doesn’t mention if
this was with or without data plane enabled.

When will data plane be the default?

[Users] New user to oVirt, and I haz a sad so far...

2014-01-16 Thread Will Dennis (Live.com)
Hi all, ready for a story? (well, more of a rant, but hopefully it will be a
good UX tale, and may even be entertaining.)

Had one of the groups come to me at work this week and request a OpenStack
setup. When I sat down and discussed their needs, it turns out that they
really only need a multi-hypervisor setup where they can spin up VMs for
their research projects. The VMs should be fairly long-lived, and will have
persistent storage. Their other request is that the storage should be local
on the hypervisor nodes (they plan to use Intel servers with 8-10 2TB drives
for VM storage on each node.) They desire this in order to keep the VM I/O
local - they do not have a SAN of any sort anyhow, and they do not care
about live migration, etc.

In any case, knowing that they did not want to afford a VMware setup (which
is what I'm used to using), I proposed using oVirt to fill their needs,
having heard and read up on it a bit (It's "open-source VMware", right?)
even though I had not used it before (I have however made single-node KVM
hypervisors for their group before, utilizing Open vSwitch, libvirt,
virt-manager etc., so I'm not completely ignorant of KVM/libvirt etc.)

In any case, I took one of their older servers which was already running
CentOS 6.5, installed the requisite packages on it, and in short order had
an engine server up and running (oVirt 3.3.2). That seems to have been the
easy part :-/ Now came the installation of a hypervisor node. I downloaded
and burned an ISO of the latest oVirt node installer
(ovirt-node-iso-3.0.3-1.1.vdsm.fc19.iso) and tried to install it on one of
their target Intel servers. On the 1st try I got to the end of the setup
TUI, invoked the Install link, and was promptly thrown an error (sorry, but
forgot what it was, something like "press X for a command prompt, or
Reboot".) No problem, I rebooted, selected booting off the CD again, waited
until the TUI came up, and when I tried to move past the first screen, it
threw me out to a login prompt. OK, enough of that (the server takes a long
time to reboot, and then boot off the CD) - I then thought I would try it on
a VMware Workstation VM (yes, I get the irony, but VMware wkstn can handle
nested virt, so it's a great testbed platform for OpenStack, etc.) because
that would install a heck of a lot faster. That went a lot better - got the
oVirt node 3.0.3 installed on the first try.

More pain was soon to follow, however. I logged in and started configuring
the node. The TUI was easy enough - much like an ESXi node ;) I set the NIC
to IPv4 static, entered in the correct IP info, registered a DNS name for
the IP I had assigned, and then tested pinging the engine, all was good. I
then moved on to the section where you define the engine. I entered in the
FQDN of the engine, verified the key fingerprint, and clicked the "Save and
Register" link at the bottom. That seemed to work, so I completed the rest
of the TUI, and then looked at the oVirt engine web UI. There was my new
node, ready for authorization. I clicked the link to authorize it, and after
a while, the UI came back with "Install Failed" status. Hmmm. So I went back
to the node's TUI, and now some of the screens said that the IP addr was
unconfigured? I went then to the Network screen, and sure enough, the NIC at
the bottom showed "Unconfigured". WTF? So I went and entered in the correct
info back in the IPv4 section, and then arrowed down to the Save link and
clicked it - and the next screen said something like "No info needing
changes, nothing to do." Wh? Went back to the network setup screen, NIC
still showing "Unconfigured" even though the IPv4 info still was there. I
did a ping test at this point from the Ping link on the network setup page,
and what do you know - I could still ping IP's (the engine, the default gw,
etc.) But as I moved around the TUI, other screens still said that the
network was unconfigured. Went back to the Web UI of the engine, put the
host in Maint, then tried to Activate it, still no go - Install Failed. Even
though I had configured the node to allow remote access and set a password,
and also verified via nmap that TCP port 22 on the node was indeed
listening, when I tried to SSH into the node as admin, I immediately got a
"connection closed" message, so that failed as well. Went back to the node's
network setup page, set the IPv4 to "Disabled", saved it, then went back and
set it back to "Static" then re-entered the IPv4 info. Clicked the Save
link, it went thru the setup again, came back with a success, verified with
ping etc. that networking was working on the node. The engine web UI still
said that it could not connect to the node however. So I put the node in
Maint, and then removed it. I went back to the node, went to the Engine
setup page, and re-did the screen to define the engine on the node. I notice
that after I did this, however, that the node screens went back to saying
that the network was unconfigured. Grr. But the nod

Re: [Users] conversion of ESXi 5 centos VM to fedora19 ovirt host-- import failed

2014-01-16 Thread Blaster

I haven’t tried this yet, but if I had to move a VM from ESXi to oVirt this is
how I would do it…
(actually, this is how I did it with Windows 7 guests…)

Shutdown guest on ESXi (or use GhettoVCB to make a snapshot backup if you
don’t want an outtage)
NFS copy guest from ESXi server to temp storage somewhere
qemu-img convert guest.vmdk -O raw guest.raw
Create an oVirt guest with the appropriate OS type
Add a disk of the same GB to the guest
After oVirt finishes creating the disk, copy the guest.raw file over the disk
image oVirt made
boot guest and install qemu-agent, ovirt-agent, spice-agent (or better yet, do
this before you shutdown on ESXi)
remove VMware tools.

The importing and virt2v procedure seems far to complex and error prone to me.

Re: [Users] Blank VM Install Console

2014-01-16 Thread David Li
Well, it didn't even have any traces to tell me if it's installed. I am
supposed to see these according to the instruction but none of them showed up.

* IE will prompt you with "This website wants to install the following
add-on SpiceX.cab... proceed by clicking the arrow on the install button and
choose "Install for All Users of this computer".
* Depending on the version of IE a UAC dialog may pop up asking you if
you want to allow "SpiceX.cab" If it does not Click on the install spice button
again and it will.
* In the UAC dialog click on the yes button.
* The install will now proceed in the background.

I am using W7 64bit with IE11. My engine is running on a RHEL6 machine.

Re: [Users] Attach NFS storage to multiple datacenter

2014-01-16 Thread Dafna Ron
sounds like a very creative use for the provider 3.3 feature and I like
the way you think :)

basically, it will require installing an all-in-one openstack but if
downtime is such a big issue it could be a good solution...

Well, I'll be creative and I'll suggest you the following idea.
There is an option to add a glance image server to RHEV as an external provider.
This new feature allows you to export disks (not VMs) to the glance image
repository while the VM which the disk is attached to is running.
As for the VM configuration (which is not part of the disk that will be
exported to the glance server), there is an option (which was introduced in
RHEV3.3) to create a VM from a configuration file (OVF) of another VM.

Dafna, Fede, Liron, Itamar, please back me up here. Will it be possible to
perform those actions? Can we suggest this idea to the customer?

Heho,

Unfortunately yes, you'll suffer from a down time during this process.

Well, as the downtime could be significantly decreased/the comfort for
an "migrate one vm, then the next" largely increased, if an nfs storage
could be mounted on multiple datacenters simultaneous i wonder if such a
feature is planed?

Main concern for me is that it might not really fit into the current way
of handling storage in ovirt.

With best Regards,
Tobias

yuck

i dont know why they do not just have this already done in an rpm

yes it probably works , i have not tested it , but virt-viewer is
deprecated in favor of the newer Remote-Viewer

by the way

worst comes to worst you can always connect to the ovirt vm node
server via virt-manager gui in linux .. or using macports virt-manager
in OSX

and as long as you have a username and password set up in libvirt
password db
/etc/libvirt/passwd.db

use saslpasswd2 -a libvirt $USER on your ovirt vm host node
to add your user account so you dont mess with ovirt's

if you have winaxe or some other Xwindows on your windows machine you
could probably just ssh with putty.exe to your ovirt node server and run
virt-manager from there while displaying back to your windows desktop

   Hi,

My first time to install a VM on ovirt has encountered a problem. I

tried

  to

open up a console to continue the install process. But all I got is a

blank

window and a request to save a file which I did. The window remained

blank

  and I

couldn't see any activities. I went to the node itself and tried

to see

  if I

could use virsh tool to understand what's going on. But I was

asked for

  a

username and password to perform any actions.

Any idea what I should do at this time?

   David

[Users] Networking. Hosted Setup. All in One Host. Hetzner

2014-01-16 Thread Peter Styk
Greetings,

I'm writing here as to share some of my findings about hosting with
Hetzner. All in one setups on single remote host can be tricky. Provider
mounted an extra /29 subnet to the main host but none is routed by default
and host has to become router itself. At the same time single mistake in
bridging configuration and lost access results in need for re-bootstrap.
It's still tempting to try and with many trials I eventually got to see
guests talking to the net.

Scenario 1: Working. Package bridge-utils, oVirt engine, setup bridge,
VDSM, add host to engine, add routing to host routing table. Networking by
trial and error. Still something is not right. Occasionally on ping out I'm
getting "Redirect Host (New nexthop" messages.
http://styk.tv/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/oVirtHosted1_almost_working.png

Scenario 2: Dreaming. Private network with private router/dhcp/nat. Private
10.0.0.0/24 network. No problems with routing as gateway 10.0.0.1 would be
on the same subnet. Thought of using pfSense but can't seem to bring up an
instance with two network cards on two different networks. I thought this
would be easy. Go to Networks, click create new network, type private, save
ok. then go to new instance. point at iso, attach two network cards. save
ok. Launch "Host did not satisfy internal filter Network" No idea what that
is. Maybe I don't understand how this works. I even tried removing
ovirtmgmt network and leaving private network by itself. Tried with all 3
network card types (rtl8139/e1000/VirtIO)
http://styk.tv/wp-content/uploads/2014/01/oVirtHosted2_preferred.png

Either way if you have a minute or two please take a look at both attached
diagrams. Deliberately making it difficult by forcing all elements on
single box in hosted environment.

Maybe there is a way to have this all installed with Neutron or vSwitch on
the same box or is that pushing it?

Regards,
Peter

[Users] connecting to oVirt/RHEV VMs through proxy and the oVirt API

2014-01-16 Thread i iordanov
Hello,

My apologies for cross-posting, but this discussion concerns both mailing
lists, I think.

In Opaque, I recently started setting the proxy property of SpiceSession
from a console file, as is done in remote-viewer, in order to support
installations where the nodes are not "visible" from the point of view of
the client.

However, then I remembered that I have not seen the proxy property being
available through the oVirt/RHEV API. I looked at the latest remote-viewer
code, and I looked through the oVirt/RHEV API documentation, and indeed, I
see no way to get proxy information other than through the console.vv file.

If I am correct, then this means that both Opaque and remote-viewer cannot
connect to VMs behind a proxy unless a console.vv file is used, which also
means that since console.vv files are unobtainable through the User Portal
on mobile devices, mobile devices effectively cannot at all connect to such
VMs if the user is not an Administrator.

Would it be possible to expose the proxy parameter through the API? I
couldn't find a bug opened about this, but it doesn't mean it isn't there
:).

Thanks!

yuck

i dont know why they do not just have this already done in an rpm

yes it probably works , i have not tested it , but virt-viewer is
deprecated in favor of the newer Remote-Viewer

by the way

worst comes to worst you can always connect to the ovirt vm node
server via virt-manager gui in linux .. or using macports virt-manager
in OSX

and as long as you have a username and password set up in libvirt

Not quite right. I have virt-viewer-x86-0.5.6.msi or

with ovirt-3.2/3 or higher.

Opens both vnc and spice consoles.
The latest virt-viewer-x86-0.5.7.msi seems to be missing

I can not do this because this kind of means that the vms will be down

downtime as much as possible.

With best Regards,

you can decrease the downtime by:

- live snapshot VM1;
- clone VM1 from snapshot to VM1-NEW (during this process VM1 is
up&running);

- export VM1-NEW to export domain (VM1 up&running);
- detach export domain from old DC;
- attach export domain to new DC;
- import VM1-NEW (VM1 still up&running);
- start VM1-NEW on single mode and configure;
- stop apps from VM1 (downtime);
- optionally sync app data from VM1 to VM1-NEW (downtime);
- start apps on VM1-NEW (apps up&running on new DC).
- stop VM1 on old DC.

[Users] vlan on mgmt network

2014-01-16 Thread Juan Pablo Lorier
Hi William,

You can have several logical networks on the same interface. If
ovirtmgmt is not a vm network you can even mix tagged and untagged
networks (if not, you can't mix). You don's have to do anything besides
creating the logical networks in ovirt and assign them to the interface,
ovirt takes care of creating the virtual interfaces it needs.
What you can't do is have more than one logical network per vlan (I
think there's a feature request on this, I know I've asked it on the
list:-) ).

Ok so if you want to set the management network (untagged) and VM networks
(tagged) on the same bond,
then the management network has to be non-VM. IE: You won't be able to connect

Re: [Users] Attach NFS storage to multiple datacenter

2014-01-16 Thread Elad Ben Aharon

Well, as the downtime could be significantly decreased/the comfort for
an "migrate one vm, then the next" largely increased, if an nfs storage
could be mounted on multiple datacenters simultaneous i wonder if such a
feature is planed?

Main concern for me is that it might not really fit into the current way
of handling storage in ovirt.

1) Edit ovirtmgmt, mark it as non-VM.
2) Go to all hosts using this network, select Setup Host Networks. You'll see
that
ovirtmgmt is out of sync. Edit the network and mark sync. Hit ok on the
dialog of course :)
Step 2 will be done for you automatically when you edit logical networks in
oVirt 3.4
3) Create VM, VLAN networks
4) Go to all hosts you wish to place those networks, and drag the new VLAN
networks on
   bond0.

You don't need to do any prep work on your hosts before this procedure. oVirt
will take care
of this stuff for you.

I can not do this because this kind of means that the vms will be down

You don't have to attach/detach the domain for every VM export. Sorry for not
being clear. You can export all your VMs to the export domain at once and then
detach the export domain and attach it to the second DC.

individual vm-migration.

You can convert to fc19 by backing up and restoring to fc19.
We will add support to el6 in 3.4.0. This is highly likely and then you will be

I would like to say that I was able to pass from 3.3.2 to 3.3.3beta1
without any downtime as far as VMs are concerned and my GlusterFS
based DC.
I also put my line inside wiki testing page.
My setup is composed by a fedora 19 server used as engine (actually a
vSphere VM) + 2 Fedora 19 server used as Hypervisors (BL685 G1
blades).
3 VMs configured: CentOS 5.10, CentOS 6.4, Fedora 20
Starting point is Fedora 19 with stable repo and a GlusterFS Datacenter.
Gluster version on the two nodes is 3.4.2-1.fc19 and I have set quorum
policy this way:

gluster volume set gvdata cluster.quorum-type none

This lets me maintain DC and VMs active also with only one host active
at a time.

Steps done:
- enable beta repo on engine
- engine-setup --> proposed to update ovirt-engine-setup package
- yum update ovirt-engine-setup
- engine-setup --> ok, downloaded new packages and setup
- 1 day test with new engine and keep hosts the same version
- migrate all 3 VMs to the currently SPM host (host2)
- put non SPM host1 in maintenance
- enable beta repo on host1
- stop vdsmd on host1 (possibly not necessary...)
- yum update on host1
- merge between /etc/vdsm/logger.conf and created .rpmnew
NOTE: in December I previously changed DEBUG entries to INFO in this file.
In 3.3.3 they are yet set to DEBUG, but there is a new entry for ha engine
-> it could be useful to put this note in release notes if one simply
updates host and doesn't redeploy it
(in this last case I don't know if a yum remove / yum install is made
or the same "problem" is present...)
In my case before merge this was the situation:
# diff logger.conf logger.conf.rpmnew
2c2
< keys=root,vds,Storage,metadata
---
> keys=root,vds,Storage,metadata,ovirt_hosted_engine_ha
11c11
< level=INFO
---
> level=DEBUG
16c16
< level=INFO
---
> level=DEBUG
22c22
< level=INFO
---
> level=DEBUG
32a33,38
> [logger_ovirt_hosted_engine_ha]
> level=ERROR
> handlers=
> qualname=ovirt_hosted_engine_ha
> propagate=1
>
43c49
< level=INFO
---
> level=DEBUG

So after the merge I have the new config file but with the INFO
settings instead of DEBUG.
- shutdown -r of host1
- activate host1 in webadmin gui
- migrate all 3 VMs to the new version host1
- some tests accessing consoles
- select host1 as SPM in webadmin gui before working on update for
host2; wait and see --> ok
- put host2 in maintenance
- enable beta repo on host2
- stop vdsmd on host2
- yum update on host2
- merge new /etc/vdsm/logger.conf
- shutdown -r of host2
- activate host2 in webadmin gui
- migrate all 3 VMs to the new version host2
- test access to consoles

Does this help you?

http://resources.ovirt.org/releases/3.3.2/iso/ovirt-node-iso-3.0.1-1.0.2.vdsm.el6.iso

but I'd advice against the use of the "node" iso, for me
it doesn't work that well.

I stick to "full blown hosts" (EL6 based).

[Users] oVirt node - network config not persisted

2014-01-16 Thread Federico Alberto Sayd

Hello:

I have been testing some hosts with ovirt-node (3.0.1-1.0.2.el6) and
when I reboot the node the network config is not persisted.

I have seen that this was commented in this list, some time ago. Was
this fixed in 3.0.3-1 release?

There is a 3.0.3-1.1 image in
http://resources.ovirt.org/releases/3.3/iso/, but is only Fedora Core.
No el6/Centos image?

Thank you

I was afraid that this would be the way to go. So attach/detach for each
individual vm-migration.

Thank you for the clarification.

Re: [Users] Attach NFS storage to multiple datacenter

2014-01-16 Thread Elad Ben Aharon
In order to 'migrate' VMs between data centers, you can use an export domain.
You can create an export domain using the UI. You just have to specify 'Export
/ NFS' under: 'Domain Function / Storage Type'. Attach this export domain to
the data center you would like to export the VM from.
Then, you'll be able to export your VMs to that domain (via 'Virtual Machines'
tab on UI, click on 'Export').
When you finish migrating all the VMs from that data center, put the export
domain in Maintenance, Detach it from the first DC and attach it to the second
DC.
When the domain is active on the second DC, you'll be able to see your exported
VMs on 'VM import' sub-tab under the export storage domain.
Import the VMs to the second DC.
Then you're done.

Heho,
for some reason i currently have two active datacenters in ovirt 3.3
which should be cold migrated to one new datacenter.

Is there a simple way to attach an nfs-storage to all datacenters, so it
can be used to migrate the virtual machines? I was sadly unable to find
documentation on this issue online...

Re: [Users] Ovirt in the cloud

2014-01-16 Thread Jorick Astrego
Hi Rob,

Short answer, it really depends on your provider. But generally using a
single good provider makes life easier and cheaper.

I just had a client where we failed to implement any high available vm
platform due to the way they had set up their uplinks. We had to use an
api to do ip address failover but even then it was not possible to move
a subnet to a different machine. KVM/IMPI/DRAC was not possible and no
fencing devices available. Long answer you have to think about all the
things just like you would when building the cloud on your own hardware

Things you have to consider:

  * What kind of storage will you use local/glusterfs, iSCSI SAN,
NFS and how will this be connected to the nodes
  * How will you synchronize the storage between multiple
providers/datacenter? What kind of interconnect will you have
between providers? What will this cost me (not cheap!!!)?
  * What kind of interconnect is available between nodes
  * How will you manage ip failover between providers (BGP,
multicast, ?)
  * What kind of connection do you have between the management
server and the ovirt nodes (ipsec, openvpn, dedicated line,
  * What are my SPOF's (Single Point Of Faillure)
  * What kind of fencing devices are available
  * Do the different providers have the same setup or is the
hardware different (predictability of performance)?
  * Will you have to share infrastructure with other clients?
  * What is your maximum acceptable failover/migration time between
providers?
  * I can go on for a couple of pages

Kind regards,

Jorick Astrego

Just a thought
whenever I get one of these "yum cannot download" messages i check my
network cards, default routes , and dns and /etc/resolv.conf to make
sure its all working properly
Ovirt does mess with networking when installing .. so you should double
check these.

Hi William,

The issue you are having is a yum issue with Centos and not ovirt issue.
I found several posts on it by searching 'Cannot find a valid baseurl
for repo: base' in google.

https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=cr&ei=GsnVUu-YCo7T7AbG6YCICw#q=Cannot+find+a+valid+baseurl+for+repo:+base+CentOS+6.5&spell=1

can you please look at the link and see if any of the forms were
reporting anything like you describe with Yum?
If you do, can you also post it here so others encountering this yum
issue on centos can use your workaround?

Just so you know, ovirt has a deployment log under
/var/log/ovirt-engine/host-deploy/ so if a host installation fails, it
should be reported there in a way which should be easy to debug.

Thanks,
Dafna

Is it possible to use leased dedicated servers as ovirt nodes? In my
mind it seems likely, but input from the community would be
appreciated. I'm envisioning a controller node running on a dedicated
server leased from a provider and multiple compute nodes running on
several different providers spread out over the net. I don't require
any migration capability for the purposes of this. I manage a large
farm of servers, and if this works like I think it would, I believe it
would speed up deployment of new servers and also provide a better

Re: [Users] installation failed on cluster host

2014-01-16 Thread Sven Kieske
Hi,

I think I can answer this.

oVirt relies on a working yum for this kind
of installation.

And it's not a "yum issue" at all, but a configuration issue on your
side.

If you have a proxy, configure your yum.conf accordingly.
Information how to do this, can be found e.g. here:
https://www.centos.org/docs/5/html/yum/sn-yum-proxy-server.html

If this doesn't work and oVirt doesn't respect yum.conf (which I doubt)
you found a bug and should open a BZ for it.
