Hi, I was trying to add GINASSO in XP with ovirtguestservice started. I did that as GinaSSO/Reame.txt said. But I failed to autologin as a domain user. I'd already add ovirt and guest XP to the ActiveDirectory. What should I do then to make it right? ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

[Users] TSC clocksource gets lost after live migration
Hello, we have an up to date ovirt 3.4 installation. Inside we are running SLES11 SP3 VMs (Kernel 3.0.76-0.11). After live migration of these VMs they all of a sudden do not react any longer and CPU usage of the VM goes to 100%. We identified kvm-clock source to be the culprit and therefore switched to another clocksource. We ended with hpet but are not happy with that as our inital goal was to use the more simple designed TSC clocksoure. The reason behind that is the question I have for you experts. Our hosts all have the constant_tsc CPU flag available. Just to mention these are not identical hosts. We have a mix of Xeon 5500 and 5600 machines. E.G. [root@colovn01 ~]# cat /proc/cpuinfo | grep constant_tsc | wc -l 8 When we start the VM the client sees TSC as available clocksource: colvm53:~ # cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/available_clocksource kvm-clock tsc hpet acpi_pm After the first live migration to another host that also has constant_tsc (see above) that flag is lost inside the VM. colvm53:~ # cat /sys/devices/system/clocksource/clocksource0/available_clocksource kvm-clock hpet acpi_pm Any ideas? [Users] A mobile monitoring application for oVirt
Hello oVirt users, I'm in the process of developing a simple monitoring application for oVirt on the Android platform. This is still under heavy development, but first usable version can be found at [1] Please note that this is still a development preview so it can be a little unstable and the UI design is not yet perfect (well ... design by programmer :-)) but I hope it could be useful. All comments, remarks, feature requests and general feedback are very welcome. You can file any issues directly at [2]. Below follow the details of using and configuring the app. Description: The goal of this project was to create a simple Android app that would enable oVirt admins to configure conditions on Vms, Clusters, or whole datacenter upon which they want to be notified. At the moment you can configure 3 types of Triggers: - when Vm CPU is over given level - when Vm Memory usage is over given level - when Vm enters given state (Down, Unknown ...) You can also choose if you want just simple standard android notification or also want the device to vibrate. You can also define all these triggers on per-Vm, per-Cluster or global level. Configuration: On first run the app will prompt you to enter connection parameters of your running oVirt engine instance. API URL should be in the form of http://host:port/ovirt-engine/api Username is user@domain i.e. admin@internal Password is ... well the above user's password :-) sadly only http (not https) is supported so far for endpoint url. If you have any more questions feel free to use this thread and I'll do my best to answer them :-) Best regards, Martin [1] https://github.com/matobet/moVirt/blob/master/moVirt/moVirt.apk [2] https://github.com/matobet/moVirt/issues ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users

He chooses a new SPM (can we speed this up?), put's the host in non-responsive (can we speed this up, more important) and the VM's stay on Paused mode... I would expect that they would be migrated (yes, HA is i guess you mean the host moves to not-operational (in contrast to non-responsive)? if so, the engine will not migrate vms that are paused to do io error, because of data corruption risk. to speed up you can look at the storage domain monitoring timeout: engine-config --get StorageDomainFalureTimeoutInMinutes enabled) to the other host and reboot there... Any solution? We are still using oVirt 3.3.1 , but we are planning a upgrade to 3.4 after the easter holiday. [Users] ovirt 3.3 vnic profile with bonding vlans problem
Hi, I am attempting a little test with vnic profiles. I got a profile named 100mbit with average: 100 peak: 100 burst: 0 (ovirt warns you can't set peak below average which is not true from libvirt perspective, it is an optional field) I attached this profile to a logical network with a vlan id, which is connected to one vm. when I start the vm, I see the correct information in the libvirtxml: interface type='bridge' mac address='MY_MAC'/ source bridge='MY_BRIDGE'/ target dev='vnet0'/ model type='virtio'/ filterref filter='vdsm-no-mac-spoofing'/ link state='up'/ bandwidth inbound average='12800' peak='12800'/ outbound average='12800' peak='12800'/ /bandwidth However when I test the download and upload speed inside this vm, just the download (inbound) gets limited correctly, here is a sample test: Upload (too fast for 100mbit): root@qostest:~# tnftp -u ftp://ftphost.example.com/test/ install-amd64-minimal-20140220.iso Connected to ftphost.example.com. 220 (vsFTPd 2.2.2) 331 Please specify the password. 230 Login successful. I'm having a difficult time finding documentation on migrating from virt-manager to oVirt. As well as installing ovirt-nodes manually. I'd love to find this perfect world where I can just install the ovirt-node RPMs on my already running Hosts and begin to have them managed by the oVirt engine. Without and serious downtime. The usual way is to go through virt-v2v. Essentially, you'd install the engine somewhere and configure a storage domain (the properties of which vary, but it's UUIDed and the UUID must match the engine) to bring the datacenter up, then add an export domain (which is also UUIDed). Once an export domain is created, virt-v2v can move your VMs over, but with downtime. As far as turning your existing hosts into nodes, adding them from the engine is the easiest way (there's a wizard for this). It's possible to install the ovirt-node RPMs directly, but they take over your system a bit, and it's probably not what you're looking for. The engine can manage regular EL6/fedora hosts. But registering to the engine will reconfigure libvirt, so the general path is: Install engine. Live-migrate VMs off one of your hosts. [Users] Updating AIO from 3.3.4 to 3.4
Hello, I know that AIO setup is only for experimenting and trying but I find it very useful in several situations. So having a 3.3.4 All-In_one installation on fedora19 and wanting to update it to 3.4 I have some doubts. In release notes I see for general updates: On Fedora 19 you'll need to enable fedora-updates repository for having updated openstack packages -- OK. It is normally already enabled On Fedora 19, you'll need to enable fedora-virt-preview repository for using Fedora 19 as node on 3.4 clusters -- how do I managed this? This is indeed a node too, so I have to enable virt-preview for it? Correct? BTW: Is this note still true in general or did the related virt packages go into fedora-updates, or is it planned in coming days/weeks? When engine-setup is run and detects that a newer version is available and outputs that I have to run yum update ovirt-engine-setup is it correct to say that in AIO setups I should actually run yum update ovirt-engine-setup ovirt-engine-setup-plugin-allinone or is it the latest package not crucial to be updated before new engine-setup is run? At the end of engine update can I simply put the AIO server into maintenance (as a node) and run yum update so that vdsm (aka node) packages are updated too and so the server will become a 3.4 enabled node after reboot? Re: [Users] virt-manager migration
Well, that was fun. So I let the ovirt engine install to a running host that already had kvm/libvirt running on it. Don't ask why, but it did happen. After figuring out how to setup a sasl user/password and adding qemu to the disk group I could startup all of my guests again. My host now shows up in the list of hosts, but has One of the Logical Networks defined for this Cluster is Unreachable by the Host. error sitting on it. ovirt-node-setup also tells me I should setup a network. I currently have 6 bridges running on this thing all one for each vlan. I'm unsure as to how to meld the 'bondX' in ovirt-node-setup with my current network configuration to resolve the error. esp given that I don't actually want to bond any of my NIC's together at this point. I do realise I'm doing this the hard way. My goal at the moment is to just get the host to fully report in the engine, at which point I think I'll be able to use v2v to finish up the rest. Thanks for any suggestions or pointers. I probably would have skipped ovirt-node-setup (which is intended to run on the oVirt Node ISO) and used the New wizard from the Engine to add it (which would install requisite RPMs, etc). The one of the networks is not reachable error isn't really my area, but it's probably looking for the host to be reachable by IP on a bridge called ovirtmgmt. An engine developer can verify this, but I'd guess that adding a virtual NIC to whatever VLAN has the IP the engine sees and bridging that to ovirtmgmt with the appropriate address would work. It may only need the right bridge (ovirtmgmt, probably) defined. I've never experimented with this aspect of it, to be honest. Re: [Users] virt-manager migration
I was just using ovirt-node-setup to see what going on. Also used it to setup my resolv.conf. I did use the New wizard, but it seems to have failed at the point where ovirtmgmt magic was supposed to happen. Dragging the ovrtmgmt network onto the proper interface in the host then results in udev trying to restart repeatedly my vlan device after failing with a dhcpclient request. Since it's already got an ip on that vlan all hell breaks loose and no dhcp response ever comes. Thanks for the help though, I hope someone else on the list can give me a pointer or some help. -jj- On Thu, Apr 3, 2014 at 3:04 PM, Ryan Barry rba...@redhat.com wrote: On 04/03/2014 03:58 PM, Jeremiah Jahn wrote: Well, that was fun. That's ok. Add that host as a node. virt-v2v machines than can take downtime (can you get a maintenance window)? Bring them up on the new node. Repeat until your environment is converted. ___ Users mailing list Users@ovirt.org http://lists.ovirt.org/mailman/listinfo/users
