Re: [ovirt-users] can't attach storage domain to data center

2014-06-23 Thread Punit Dambiwal
Hi,

You can also use the below method on every gluster node :-

For Group-virt (optimize for virt store)

1. Create the file name /var/lib/glusterd/groups/virt
2. And paste all the contents from this location to this file :-
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/gluster/glusterfs/master/extras/group-virt.example
3. service glusterd restart
4. service vdsmd restart

--
quick-read=off
read-ahead=off
io-cache=off
stat-prefetch=off
eager-lock=enable
remote-dio=enable
quorum-type=auto
server-quorum-type=server
--

Thanks,

[ovirt-users] New Mirror in Europe

2014-06-23 Thread Brian Proffitt
All:

Thanks to the work of David Caro, we have a new mirror in Europe! The listing
is now on the Downloads page, and here's a little more information:

The server is located in The Netherlands (Amsterdam)
The operator name should be NLUUG and pointing to http://www.nluug.nl
Our email contact addres is: ftpmirror-beh...@nluug.nl

Our bandwidth is currently 4 Gb/s and we do IPV4 and IPV6

The url's for the oVirt mirror are:
http://ftp.nluug.nl/os/Linux/virtual/ovirt/
ftp://ftp.nluug.nl/pub/os/Linux/virtual/ovirt/

I liked what René did too. My 'demos' weren't more than answering
questions by showing how things are done.
It would be nice to do what René did but also to show some integration
with and around oVirt but for that you'll need a hardware setup that is
flexible enough to do that, helped by in his case people with live usb
ovirt keys.

Might try to setup something like that at work to show off oVirt.

Hi Maurice,
affinity is being handled during the scheduling process and not
afterwards. So already placed VMs will not move unless they will
be picked up by the load balancing process which obeys affinity rules.

The reason for it is to avoid adding noise on loaded setups.
However we should be able to make sure load balancing will handle
affinity as well and only then balance the cluster.

Do mind opening an RFE for it?

Spice error code 1032

It happens when I try to connect to a vm with the console set to auto (USB

I love what René Koch did in Graz, getting everyone to boot off the key
and adding all of the hosts to an oVirt compute pool, so rather than 20
one-node installs, he had one 20-node install running off the USB keys.
Makes for nicer demos & workshops.

Cheers,

Not really hardware, but a software solution that would be a little more robust
than the current LiveUSB version.

But what's key to this discussion is, what features of oVirt should be
highlighted for a self-guided demo? Joop, you've done demos in the past, what
features did you highlight?

Yes. Without the existence of a repository with neutron packages, the
installation of
host with configured with an external network provider will fail.

The user is not obligated to install a host with an external network provider,
but if
he choose to, it must provide the required deployment.

by default and this is up to the admin to decide from which repositories

Since ovirt-neutron integration, any host (compute node) that is added
to ovirt-engine with an external network provider should include a
repository that contains the "openstack-neutron" package.

just to make sure - so this isn't in by default for anyone deploying a host?

Yes, it should be recommended only for users which intend to use ovirt-neutron
integration.

Sorry, this is not the solution.

I found the table jiuser in the ovirt_engine_reports database with an
user admin and a crypted password.

After removing the folders it is working.
But I can not login to the reporting portal.
When I try to logon with admin and the passwort, defined in
engine-setup, I get: Invalid credentials supplied. Could not login to
 JasperReports Server.
Can I reset the password or is it an other problem?

[ovirt-users] logs and ovirt

2014-06-23 Thread Nathanaël Blanchet

Hi,

Several questions today about logs.

 * what is ovirt-log-collector for?
 * sometimes, I can't find the output of the event tab into
/var/log/ovirt-engine. where can I find the whole content of the
   event tab?
 * is there a way for collecting both engine and host vdsm logs to a
   syslog server?

Thanks for helping.

Re: [ovirt-users] Problem with reporting

2014-06-23 Thread Michael Wagenknecht
I'm using ovirt-engine-reports-3.4.2-1.el6.noarch.

I tried to use the reporting engine since Ovirt 3.2x.
But it didn't work on Centos systems. So it is an upgrade from an
earlier version.

I found an other logfile, perhaps it is helpful.

For some reason this is the error:
 /var/tmp/ovirt-engine/deployments/ovirt-engine-reports.war/WEB-INF/js-jboss7-ds.xml
 (Permission denied)
it's looking for war in '/var/tmp'.

Alon\Didi, any idea why this can happen?

Re: [ovirt-users] Problem with reporting

2014-06-23 Thread Michael Wagenknecht
After removing the folders it is working.
But I can not login to the reporting portal.
When I try to logon with admin and the passwort, defined in
engine-setup, I get: Invalid credentials supplied. Could not login to
JasperReports Server.
Can I reset the password or is it an other problem?

I see you have a 'Permission denied' on a file in the log.
What user did you install with? try to chmod the war directory to the
 user
 running the service.
 Probably 'ovirt'.

Subject: [ovirt-users] Host Installation fails - Package openstack-neutron
cannot be found

Hi All,

I am trying to add a new Host, with External Network Provider - Neutron.
Host
installation fails in oVirt Engine with below error.

What is the version of the neutron server you're using ?

you can find repositories here:
http://repos.fedorapeople.org/repos/openstack/openstack-havana/

If the above repository is now required in order to deploy hosts, please send
a patch to ovirt-release project and/or open a BZ to be sure we enable
that repository by default.
Thanks.

AFAIK we don't enable any repositories on the hosts (compute nodes)
by default and this is up to the admin to decide from which repositories
it should fetch the required dependencies.

Since ovirt-neutron integration, any host (compute node) that is added
to ovirt-engine with an external network provider should include a
repository that contains the "openstack-neutron" package.

just to make sure - so this isn't in by default for anyone deploying a host?

I've reported a bug for that, as an installation documentation guide:

https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=918

Please let me know if it satisfies the needs.

Please help me resolve this

Hi Maurice,
affinity is being handled during the scheduling process and not

Thanks,
Doron

1. stop service
2. rm -fr /tmp/jasperserver /tmp/dataSnapshots

See below; 4 GiB is the minimum to allow DWH & reporting, and 8 GiB
is the recommended amount of RAM.

Well all the network stuff, which works pretty fine
(if possible in the lab), so: qos, vlans, bridges, bonding
etc. (bonding I guess will be out-of-scope for a lab)
stuff like live migration or a successfull gluster setup
would be cool.

well, you can't hit the 'ok' button, but you can show the cool drag and
drop on how to create a bond, map logical networks, labels, etc.

/var/tmp as t attribute, just like /tmp.
and we create /var/tmp/ovirt-engine with specific permissions, see
/var/tmp/ovirt-engine/config/ for example.
the same structure will be moved to /var/lib/ovirt-engine/deployments or
similar.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but on my CentOS 6.5 /var/tmp/ is world
writeable whereas /var/lib/ is not.

So any malicious content on this machine could modify the ovirt jboss
instance, or not?
