Re: [ovirt-users] Live Migration / Snapshots- CentOS 6.5
If I use Fedora will everything work? I had numerous issues, IIRC I could not even get the ovirtmgmt switch to install and a few other things. What version of Fedora do you recommend then? Ill do another install and give that a whirl again. Thanks! As you said, major issues. Re: [ovirt-users] Live Migration / Snapshots- CentOS 6.5
Haha, yeah never have been a Fedora fan, and nothing has changed. Is the only big feature im missing out on is snapshots? From what I can tell, and in my testing, everything else seems to work. Was deploying GlusterFS but without the live migration to another host that is somewhat defeated. Only way to get that is with RHEL really then? Only way to get that is with RHEL really then? No, as I earlier pointed out, there is a place you can get the packages you need for CentOS: http://jenkins.ovirt.org/view/All/job/qemu-kvm-rhev_create-rpms_el6/lastStableBuild/ You'll have to download- and force install them over the already installed versions of those packages on all Hosts and then it'll work. Though, next time there are updates, yum will update from the standard repos and it just stops working again until you repeat the procedure. /K On Sat, Jul 5, 2014 at 7:05 AM, Karli Sjöberg karli.sjob...@slu.se wrote: Den 5 jul 2014 15:57 skrev Brad Bendy brad.be...@gmail.com: If I use Fedora will everything work? I think you could start from: - http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Backup-Restore_API_Integration - http://www.ovirt.org/Features/Backup_API - http://www.ovirt.org/Ovirt-engine-backup In our production environment we use storage filesystem snapshots with subsequent archiving (NFS over ZFS), but it can't be useful in some tasks. 03.07.2014 04:26, Punit Dambiwal ?: Hi, I have one question regarding the backup architecture for ovirt 1. How to take the backup of VM ?? 2. Is there any way we can schedule the backup of all VM's on another storage(Suppose we have two storage one for VM disks and another for VM backups) ?? 3. Is there any way to restore the backup (after point 2) ?? 4. How to take the ovirt-engine database backup and restore itis there any automated way to do this or we need to manually take the backup as we take the backup of postgresql ?? In 3.4 there is a button on the web interface under the data center tab that could be used to configure multipathing for storage domains but not direct luns. This seems to be missing in 3.5 Beta from what i can tell. If this is not available in 3.4, it will also not be in 3.5 - nobody worked on such feature in 3.5. We are particularly interested if multipathing will work with direct lun, as we have to keep bodging custom changes into the vdsm python with each new version. (We currently use EqualLogic). The best way to avoid customizing vdsm is to get your patches merged upstream. Do you want to describe what are you trying to do, and how do you modify vdsm?
