- unfortunately with the current code it's either a message every 15secs or
never

Thanks Jirka, I may silence it :)

Every so often, one of my groups decides to send me a bunch of erroneous messages.
Just figured out that if I started the ovirt-engine VM by hand, the ha-agent
doesn’t seem to pickup that it’s running, but sends me “EngineDown-EngineStart”
“EngineStart-EngineUp” messages every 10 mins or so. Doesn’t affect the
running engine, but more spam :) When I shut the running engine down and let the
agent start it up, it shuts up about it, so something that happens during automatic
launch that isn’t happening if it’s launched with —vm-start maybe?

I’ve had it send me similar messages seemingly randomly as well, no apparent
cause and the engine vm shows no interruptions in uptime. Then it gets quiet
again an hour or 3 later. No idea what caused it, just thought I’d mention it
in context.

Hi Darrell,
that's interesting would you mind sharing the logs and the exact version
of ovirt-hosted-engine-ha package if you run into this problem again?

If needed, I will create patches for the 'ovirt-engine-3.5' code-branch /

reminding in this opportunity that you should keep the Italian translation
 updated in both the
'ovirt-3.5' [1] and 'master' [2] versions of the 'ovirt' Zanata project.
Currently, the Italian translation completion in 'master' stands at 32.19%
 and in 'ovirt-3.5'
it stands at 34.31%, which implies that you may have been updating
 translations only in 'ovirt-3.5'
recently - so just pointing out that updating those translations in 'master'
 as well is extremely
important: updating the translations in only the 'ovirt-3.5' version will
 result in translations
 regressions in future ovirt-engine releases.

Don't worry, we are keeping the two branches in sync but in the
'master' branch I'm marking as Fuzzy those translations that I think
I have to revise with Gianluca.
So the difference you see in the percentage of completion as Zanata
doesn't count those phrases as completed.

Bye,
Giorgio.

please let me know if you have any questions.

 Subject: [ovirt-users] oVirt italian translation

 Hi oVirt UX team,
we (Gianluca and me) are slowly progressing on the job of having
italian as a fully translated language in oVirt.

One of our problems is that we don't know what will be the outcome of
our work until an italian embedding release will be available.
Probably the first one will not be something to be really proud.
To have a prototipe to get a glance of how it is now would be really
useful, don't care about general quality.
So I asked Sandro if could it be possible to have italian translation
in the 3.5RC release at the point where it is now (almost 35% done)
and then remove it from the official 3.5 release but he said it is not
 on his possibilities.

An alternative he suggested was to have a special 3.5 development
branch (something like ovirt-3.5-ita) just to give us the opportunity
to get a taste of what it would be in the end.

Please tell us what do you think about.
 Thanks, Giorgio.

Hey Paul,

yep - we are actually working on el7 support. And the current master should be
in a not to bad shape.

We still need to see when we switch to provide el7 based Nodes, which is not
only limited by the code readiness but also by the supporting infrastructure,
which needs to be migrated to el7.

I see in the announcement for the RC that there is an el6 based node iso.

It looks like support for el7 as a host is coming along pretty well.

Hi Nicolas,

you're right - most settings are stored only on client browser local storage
only. If i'm correct, you can only affect per-engine default value of client
console mode (i.e. which client is used for invoking console [browser
plugin/native client ...]).

Storing per-protocol options is not implemented, however it could be a nice
future feature.

Is there a way to choose (server side) those settings so as they get

Well, I think you can move the hosts to global maintenance, shutdown the hosted

After that you should be able to move the other hosts to the new network.
When finished you can exit global maintenance.

Never tested such scenario so if any other can provide more info and maybe
create a wiki page it would be nice.
Not sure about what happen with the certificates if they've been generated

  http://gerrit.ovirt.org/#/c/31263
('master', draft) and build in development environment in order to
see the results of your Italian
translation up until now in the 'master' version of the 'ovirt'
  Zanata project.
If needed, I will create patches for the 'ovirt-engine-3.5'
  code-branch / 'ovirt-3.5' zanata-version
as well - let me know if this is needed.

 Hi,
I'm now in a place where I've limited connectivity so there is nothing
I can tell about (and will be so for a couple of weeks more). I think
Gianluca is coming back from his holidays so let's see what he thinks.

For sure it would be nice to have patches applied in a ovirt-engine-3.5
 code-branch.
Do you have a wiki/notes on how to create a build environment so that I
can eventually share with Giorgio the outcome?

Here's a jenkins job providing you a build from master once a day with
 above patches.

 http://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-engine_master_create-rpms_merged_italian_translation/

Einav, can you take a look? Seems like italian translation patches are
 breaking some tests.

Hi Sandro, first of all - many thanks for created that Jenkins job.
I have updated both patches - tests should pass now.
@Gianluca/Giorgio: I assume that updated RPMs will be available only
tomorrow (as the Jenkins job is running only once a day).
 Thanks.

Updated the job for getting latest patches and started manually.

It needs manual editing when the translation patches are updated so ping me
 when needed.

 Gianluca

Re: [ovirt-users] Network Address Change

2014-08-11 Thread Paul.LKW

Hi All:
To be honest I do not see any config file in the host node
/etc/ovirt-node inside, so even I put in the global maintenance mode I
still don't know how to change the host to the new IP address.

Hi All:
I just has a case, I need to change the oVirt host and engine IP address due to
data center decommission I checked in the hosted-engine host there are
some files I could change ;

in ovirt-hosted-engine/hosted-engine.conf
ca_subject=O=simple.com, CN=1.2.3.4
gateway=1.2.3.254

and of course I need to change the ovirtmgmt interface IP too, I think just
change the above line could do the tick, but where could I change the
other host IP in the cluster ?
I think I have to be lost all the host as once changed the hosted-engine host
IP as it is in diff. sub net.
Does there any command line tools could do that or someone has such experience
could share?

Well, I think you can move the hosts to global maintenance, shutdown the hosted
engine vm, move the first host and the vm to the new network.
After that you should be able to move the other hosts to the new network.
When finished you can exit global maintenance.

Never tested such scenario so if any other can provide more info and maybe
create a wiki page it would be nice.
Not sure about what happen with the certificates if they've been generated
using ip address instead of FQDN, probably they won't be valid anymore
after the network change.

Does this still require the use of kerberos? Will 389-ds work on its own?

In 3.5 we introduced pure ldap support[1], obsoleting the kerberos/ldap mix.

It will be great to receive feedback[2].

389ds is not supported directly, I think it is similar to IPA as it uses 389.
Maybe I should rename the profile of ipa to 389 if it works properly.

Sorry for the very late response, I was on PTO -
Prior to 3.5 - 389ds was supported via the RHDS provider
AFAIK,
389ds is upstream version for RHDS...

 Alon

Sorry for my delayed response to this

  I am using ovirt 3.3.
I am using Kerberos 5, and all of the DNS requirements are in place.
Finally 389 server is the upstream project for RHDS and one of the
  upstream projects for IPA.
So I chose to set it as RHDS because its an identical match.

User authentication works just fine my problem is adding roles to groups.
I can assign a role to a group but the group always shows an inactive
status; however if I assign a role directly to to a user it works
  fine.
In addition if I drill down into a user it knows what groups in the
389 server the user is a member of.

finally I can't see any error in the logs when adding a role to a group

Please open a bug, I am unsure that it will be addressed before 3.5, as we
have done major rework for the authentication and authorization to make it
much more versatile. Even if there will be a fix it will be provided to
  3.4.z.

It will be best if you want to test this scenario in 3.5 release candidate
and the new ldap provider, so we can address the issue before 3.5 release
  if exists.

could also be one of these fixed in 3.4:
3.4.0 - Bug 1065615 - When adding a user that belongs to a group, it
does not inherit the group permissions
3.4.1 - Bug 1069562 - When assigning permissions to user that belongs to
a group indirectly, it does not inherit the group permissions

2014-08-11 Thread Einav Cohen
I've found a few different paths to the RPMs, which probably point to
the same RPMs eventually, but to be on the safe side:

go to the relevant status page of the #2 job, i.e.:
http://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-engine_master_create-rpms_merged_italian_translation/label=centos6-host/2/
  [for centos]
or
http://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-engine_master_create-rpms_merged_italian_translation/label=fedora19-host/2/
 [for fedora 19]
or
http://jenkins.ovirt.org/job/ovirt-engine_master_create-rpms_merged_italian_translation/label=fedora20-host/2/
 [for fedora 20]

click on the Expand All link-button (see http://i.imgur.com/kW5emZe.png)
and download the RPMs under the exported artifacts node in the tree.

good luck!

Einav

when I look at a user I can see all the LDAP groups they are a
   member
   of.

when I run engine-manage-domains -action=validate it tells me the
   domain is valid.

here is my problem when I try to assign a role to an LDAP group it
looks like it works but in the general tab when under the group it
tells me the status is Inactive.

dose any one know how to enable the group?
