Similarly, coming with feedback about the app as such, I noticed that I
was constantly logging out of the engine, even after shutting the app
down, and even going through Settings - Apps - Show cached processes,
and killing it, I was still logging out over and over again until I
restarted the phone. Perhaps a button to manually connect/disconnect
 would be in order?

Hey, thanx for feedback!
well, currently the authentication part of movirt is pretty hacky - we are
implementing a new one but not yet done. When implemented you will be able to
enable/disable polling and also the login/logout will not happen at each
request but only once and than the session will be re-used (e.g. no constant
login/logout events). But it is not yet there, it is a pain, I know. The best
you can do apart of restarting the phone is to enlarge the polling interval in
the settings to level it will not be annoying.

after this, have you un-selected in settings the Admin Privilege? Because
oVirt's REST behaves differently when you send the Filter: False (e.g. you
have admin privilege) and Filter: True header (e.g. don't have admin
privilege). It is a duality in the oVirt's REST and we have to follow it in
moVirt.

BTW: what are the permissions requirements for a user on a vm in general to
be able to see it and its status in movirt?

Minimal possible. As soon as you can see the VM in user portal, you can see it
in moVirt (but need to set the admin privilege to false in settings). For
example we have tested moVirt on cloudspin.me a lot and there we have only the
instance creator role.

Sphoorti is now working on a patch where you will not have all this on one
screen but it will look like this:
- pick a VM
- you will see only the VM details (e.g. memory size usage, OS, console etc)
and 3 buttons:
- events, disks, network interfaces
- when clicking, it would open a new screen with the events/disks/nics

Would this be a solution?

 hello,
I confirm that now I'm able to correctly connect to all the three vms in
this environment where I have dns in place.
I also see that the icon at the right of the VM line has changed from
UP/DOWN to a coloured triangle icon: nicer
And I confirm that the problem was the same for the other environment
without dns in place where I have to use ip based information and disable
https.
In fact all the 4 VMs have = 2Gb of ram configured and so the problem
arose for all of them. Now I can click on all of them and see their
information without crash of the app.

I'm going to test other features.
Thanks,
Gianluca

[ovirt-users] ovirt-engine gone: how to restore iscsi storage?

2015-02-02 Thread Arman Khalatyan
My ovirt engine sever gone with 3.5.0,
Another host is already fresh installed with 3.5.1.
Is it possible to attache iscsi storage with old VMs?
I got iscsi storage (master) and another one with NFS.
I was testing with NFS DATA, it is importing but no any VMs/Disks are visible.
Are there some way to rescan VMs/disk on imported storage?
How to restore it?

Thanks,
Arman.

[ovirt-users] reporting and removing unmanaged networks after deprecating org.ovirt.engine.core.common.action.VdcActionType#SetupNetworks

2015-02-02 Thread Martin Mucha
Hi,

I'd like to discuss how to properly report unmanaged networks and how to ask
for their removal after
org.ovirt.engine.core.common.action.VdcActionType#SetupNetworks
is removed.

We thought about several possibilities and so far the best one is following
one.

Reporting unmanaged networks on specific nic:
———

We'd like to return new collection under:
GET http://localhost:8080/api/hosts/{id}/nics/{id}/unmanagednetworks

returning (reporting) unmanaged networks like this:

unmanaged_networks
unmanaged_network
nic_name.../nic_name
unmanaged_network_name.../unmanaged_network_name
vland_id.../vland_id
/unmanaged_network

unmanaged_network
 ...
/unmanaged_network
/unmanaged_networks

Removing unmanagedNetworks:
—

DELETE
http://localhost:8080/api/hosts/{id}/nics/{id}/unmanagednetworks/{unmanaged_network_name}

===

any ideas, hints, complaints, recommendations, confirmations are welcomed.
Martin.

We don't actually have to remove the command, but I'd prefer not to
support two APIs at once (reminding that we'll be introducing new host
networking API in 3.6).

If I'm not mistaken, removing unmanaged networks is the only operation
the current design of the new API doesn't take care of... Right Moti?

bond0 is the correct one, the error messages refers to your other

Re: [ovirt-users] Foreman intergration

2015-02-02 Thread Karli Sjöberg
To all:

If anyone´s interested, I wrote down the process of setting up a Foreman
server from source with FreeBSD as the operating system:
https://forums.freebsd.org/threads/puppet-and-foreman-on-top-of-apache-passenger.50201/

On Fri, 2015-01-30 at 08:25 -0500, Oved Ourfali wrote:
Not at the moment. Foreman isn't aware that the host is used as a hypervisor
in ovirt. Currently foreman allows to create foreman hosts in top of ovirt
(you can use compute resources in foreman to do that), and from the ovirt
side it allows you to add a new host taken from wither an existing foreman
host, or to bare metal provision one. In the future we plan to allow adding
vms through ovirt that will also be also added automatically to foreman,
which will allow to assign this VM to some host group in foreman, which then
will install different packaged, and set up stuff according to the host group
 definition.

Details on the current integration is available at

 http://www.ovirt.org/Features/ForemanIntegration

Thanks for the link!

current Puppet Dashboard as ENC in our main Puppet Master and trade it in
for The Foreman. The flow I imagined was to have Foreman tell oVirt
engine to set a Host in Maintenance, update all packages and reboot it,
then when it´s back, put it back to Active and move on to the next Host.

QUESTIONS:

1) if we already are in 3.5.0 the steps are the usual thing on engine
# yum update ovirt-engine-setup*
# engine-setup

while nothing to do at host level, correct?

2) If one today is in 3.5.0 and follows what detailed in 3.5.1 release
notes, he/she will directly go into 3.5.1.1 now?

It will take 1 day for the mirror to sync, but other than that yes, you'll go

Re: [ovirt-users] Upgrade to 3.5.1

2015-02-02 Thread Demeter Tibor
Hi Sahina,

Unfortunately my compute nodes and gluster nodes are on same servers. I running
my VMs on the gluster nodes and vica-versa.
Also, my ovirt portal is running on the first node, that is an gluster and
compute node too.

I have a gluster based installation with three servers, two for replicaVMs,
one for VMs-s only.

This is a productive environment, so I'm affraid so much of upgrading...:(.I
don't want glusterfs mistakes, split-brains, etc..)

Also, I could make little downtime for upgrading, but I'm need to know what is
the trustable upgrade procedure. Is there an official upgrade documentation for
ovirt, that is contain the glusterfs upgrde methods?

My cluster level is 3.5.

Thanks a lot.

  3.6 neccessary for upgade ?

If you only want to upgrade the engine to oVirt 3.5.1 - you don't need to
upgrade the gluster nodes. I understand that your gluster nodes are separate
from the virt nodes. That is, you do not have any cluster enabled with both
 virt + gluster service.

glusterfs 3.6 is not necessary to upgrade engine to oVirt 3.5.1. It would
only be required if you were upgrading the cluster level (the compatibility
version) which in turn would require newer vdsm versions and gluster
versions. But in your case, I think you already have your cluster running
with glusterfs 3.5.2. What is the cluster compatibility version?

I'm worried what will happed with my gluster volumes after the upgrade...
  :(

  Plese help me.

Also, how can I upgrade the nodes? Need i'm to a yum upgrade on the
  compute
  nodes?

By upgrade the nodes - you mean only the compute nodes? yum upgrade on each
 node should work.
You can also move the Host to maintenance mode and click on Reinstall or
 upgrade from engine.

  Thanks.

these networks with VLAN-Tags to use them all on one card icmp is not working
anymore. Is there something that I have to do for that to work ?

  hello,
I confirm that now I'm able to correctly connect to all the three vms in
this environment where I have dns in place.

Cool!

I'm going to test other features.

BTW do you have any specific plans with moVirt? Any specific use case you are
looking for?
Or playing with it only out of curiosity?

 Thanks,

[ovirt-users] guest pxe boot fails

2015-02-02 Thread Yuriy Demchenko

Hi,

somehow guest pxe booting stopped working for me. PXE boot fails on
getting ip via dhcp with error 'connection timed out' and i cannot find
any reason why...
In first few seconds of VM's life it actually manages to send some
network packets - I can see dhcp request on dhcp server, I even see a
dhcp reply on both host's network interface and vm's vnetX interface.
However, gpxe still says connection timeout. During this first time
i also can see some network traffic via tcpdump on vnetX interface (some
arp's, multicasts, etc from other vms)
But after a while - all activity on vnetX interface ceases, no packets
at all, no dhcp requests from VM, no replies, no arp - nothing at all.
Also what caught my eye - 'brctl showmacs bridgename' doesn't show
VM's MAC at all, it lists it only after OS is booted. And same behaviour
with any nic driver - virtio/e1000/rtl
However, once VM is booted (if cloned, or imported via glance, or
installed from CD) - network works just fine, no problems with dhcp/arp
or anything else.

I tried to re-create VM, tried to add/remove/change vm nic's, tried to
change MAC, tried to restart vdsm and engine, tried to start vm on
different hosts - nothing helps.
The only recent change in my environment were update ovirt-3.4.3 -
ovirt-3.4.4.

Please, tell me what went wrong?

ovirt 3.4.4-el6, hosts on centos 6.6, guests - centos 6.6

Hello everybody,

I have oVirt Engine Version: 3.5.0.1-1.el6 in my installation and when I
create a new VM and try to add a virtual disk, the engine does not add the
virtual disk when I press OK button. Any message is generated in engine.log

Is it a bug or any can give me some light about this issue?

We've recently pushed a patch to have lanplus as a default option for drac7.
Until then you can set this option explicitly through the additional options in

 Hi David,

It means that for some reason user with user_id
 ab932902-cead-4435-a2b6-8b88576feab6
 was not added to users_details_history.
And this is why the etl can't update the vm_samples_history table
 on
   the
 ovirt_engine_history database.

Please check if this user_id ab932902-cead-4435-a2b6-8b88576feab6
   exists in
the dwh_users_history_view or in the users table in the engine
   database.

 Select * From dwh_users_history_view

Subject: Re: [ovirt-users] [Users] A mobile monitoring application for
  oVirt

hello,
using the ip address with disable https works to see events and
  such, but
if I click on vm line (both if VM is powered on or off) movirt
  terminates.

this is strange - it seems we expect on a VM something what is not
there... Could you please share the result of this?
   curl -k -u 'admin@internal:your password' -H 'Filter: false' -H
  'Content-type: application/xml' -X GET https://engine ip:engine
  port/ovirt-engine/api/vms
if it is failing on all VMs. Or .../vms/vm id in case it fails on one
  particular only.

So I connected to another test infra where I have 3.5.0 engine on a CentOS
6.5 system and a different system configured as host with centos 6.5 too.
Here I have dns in place so I used https and hostname of engine to
  configure movirt.
  I have 3 vms: c7desktop with CentOS 7 configured with desktop packages;
c7server with CentOS 7 configured as server and ubuntutrusty with Ubuntu
  14.04 as desktop.
I see all the three, but I can successfully connect only to c7desktop.
With the other two movirt terminates as in the previous test, both from
  phone and tablet.
Both c7 systems are configured as rhel7_64 as os and both have agents
  installed.
Same behaviour if vms are up or down: c7desktop ok and the other 2 ko.
I can succesfully run your curl command against the c7 server (that
terminates movirt if I try to connect) and I get its long XML definition...
It is a pain to copy and paste from android terminal... can I use a PC to
run curl commands and send to you? Any log file generated by the app that I
  can send you?
  Gianluca

Just in case, you can find here below the link to a txt file containing
output for curl with /vms only and then curl with
 /vms/b601debb-1636-4f99-aad3-59ad05dda744

Thank you! From the XML it seems that the size of the memory is bigger than the
size of integer - and we are trying to parse it to int and it fails.

@Sphoorti - could you please check if it is indeed this problem and provide a
patch if yes?

that is the id of c7server that causes movirt to terminate when trying to

Ok, I'll test the patch when available.
In the mean time I registered same incorrect behavior after:
- updating my engine and y host to latest CentOS 6.6 + patches
- updating the 3.5.0 infra to latest 3.5.1
- using an ldap user instead of admin@internal

BTW: what are the permissions requirements for a user on a vm in general to
be able to see it and its status in movirt?

One note on usability:
using the smartphone (Samsung S2 has 4.3 display) I noticed that if I
connect to a VM, then the notification part related to it seems somehow
small in the bottom part of the display.
It would be nice to have a sort of ability to enlarge or dim it, so that
one could concentrate on vm events or vm status details depending on
his/her needs...

If you only want to upgrade the engine to oVirt 3.5.1 - you don't need
to upgrade the gluster nodes. I understand that your gluster nodes are
separate from the virt nodes. That is, you do not have any cluster
enabled with both virt + gluster service.

glusterfs 3.6 is not necessary to upgrade engine to oVirt 3.5.1. It
would only be required if you were upgrading the cluster level (the
compatibility version) which in turn would require newer vdsm versions
and gluster versions. But in your case, I think you already have your
cluster running with glusterfs 3.5.2. What is the cluster compatibility
version?

I'm worried what will happed with my gluster volumes after the
upgrade... :(

Plese help me.

Also, how can I upgrade the nodes? Need i'm to a yum upgrade on the
compute nodes?

By upgrade the nodes - you mean only the compute nodes? yum upgrade on
each node should work.
You can also move the Host to maintenance mode and click on Reinstall or
upgrade from engine.

Thanks.

Do you have a replica 3 volume setup across these 3 nodes?

Glusterfs supports rolling upgrade for replica volumes.
But there are some issues to upgrade from 3.5 to 3.6 versions
