Please setup your management IP on top of a standard bond0 and try

Now for the issue I can't solve. When I reboot the Centos 7.1

[root@ovirt-one /]# hosted-engine --vm-status
You must run deploy first

This message is not coherent.
Can you please report the rpm version you are using?
this one should be already fixed.

There used to be a special hack/patch because esxi checks if its running
on qemu. Don't know about recent esx(i) and qemu thought. Might give you
a handle to search for if you can't get it to work.

We can. The issue seems to be the new host not able to connect to the
storage. Can you share the vdsm.log for the event?

Seems like you already have a Storage Pool called 'Pulse' and the

Re: [ovirt-users] Esxi 5.5 under oVirt 3.5

2015-09-30 Thread Alan Murrell

On 28/09/2015 2:30 PM, Conrad Lawes wrote:

Is it possible to run esxi v5.5 under oVirt 3.5, i.e. nested virtualization?

I don't know about ESXi 5.5, but I was just recently able to run Hyper-V
under oVirt. Look for my thread on "Hyper-V in a guest". I did have to
reboot the host for the module parameters to take effect when all was
said and done.

Basically, you install 'vdsm-nestedvt' on your hosts. It should be in
the repos for your distro, if you are running CentOS6 or above.

Once installed, reboot your host, as there is a parameter that needs to
get passed to the kvm_* module when it loads to allow nested KVM.

Once you have rebooted, go to your Hosts tab and look in :Host Hooks";
you should see something like this:

before_vm_start 50_nestedvt

I hope this helps.

Alan

It is a feature [1] :)

The point is that when you pick an instance type, and you do not change any of
this fields, the VM will be attached to that picked instance type (the icon
will be joined).
Now, when you change the picked instance type, all VMs which are attached to
this instance type will be edited accordingly.

I tried to activate a node and after some time he comes and tells me this.

Re: [ovirt-users] Memory Optimization settings

This relates to memory page sharing right? If so what’s the downside
of just setting it as high as possible?

This is how much more memory you will use to create VMs. Using 150%, a
hypervisor with 10GB of RAM will run up to 15 x 1GB VMs or 10 x 1,5GB
VMs and so on. If it happens all VMs using all memory in the same time,
you have KSM working to deduplicate memory pages and, as a last
resource, enough swap to avoid the oom killer.

The best setting here depends on your workload. If you already know your
VMs will use all memory they have, so the less the better. If you want a
big number of VMs and they are not going to stress the memory that much,
you can play with the values and find what fits better for you.

Thanks,

Ryan

It is a feature [1] :)

The point is that when you pick an instance type, and you do not change any of
this fields, the VM will be attached to that picked instance type (the icon
will be joined).
Now, when you change the picked instance type, all VMs which are attached to
this instance type will be edited accordingly.

[ovirt-users] The field is not attached to any instance type

2015-09-30 Thread Simon Barrett
I've recently upgraded from 3.5.3 to 3.5.4.2-el6. Now when I edit a VM I see a
small icon to the left of some fields. It looks like an unlinked symbol. When I
hover over it the following text pops up:

The field is not attached to any instance type

I see it on various fields. E.G.:

Edit Virtual Machine
- System Tab
-- Memory Size
-- Total Virtual CPUs
-- Cores per Virtual Socket
-- Virtual Sockets

- Host tab
-- The two migration option fileds

I don't see the same icon when editing hosts, storage, networks etc.

VM live migration and restarts are all OK. I can also edit the values and the
changes take effect as set.

Does anyone have any idea what this means?

Many thanks,

Simon

[ovirt-users] Ovirtmgmt not on team device

2015-09-30 Thread Johan Kooijman
Hi all,

I'm adding my first CentOS 7 host to my cluster today, but running into an
issue. When setting up network for the new host I don't have the ability to
set ovirtmgmt to the team I created, see screenshot:
http://imgur.com/k8GWwcK

The team however, works perfectly fine:

[root@hv15]# teamdctl team0 state view
setup:
  runner: lacp
ports:
  ens2f0
link watches:
  link summary: up
  instance[link_watch_0]:
name: ethtool
link: up
runner:
  aggregator ID: 4, Selected
  selected: yes
  state: current
  ens2f1
link watches:
  link summary: up
  instance[link_watch_0]:
name: ethtool
link: up
runner:
  aggregator ID: 4, Selected
  selected: yes
  state: current
runner:
  active: yes
  fast rate: no

With CentOS 6 and bonding I did not have this issue. Am I missing something
here?

Thanks for reporting it.
We already have an open bug on that
https://bugzilla.redhat.com/1262431
What you did to manually fix it is correct, we'll try to find a solution to
properly fix it without user actions.

Now for the issue I can't solve. When I reboot the Centos 7.1 host I get

>

This message is not coherent.
Can you please report the rpm version you are using?
this one should be already fixed.

In the past ovirt-ha-agent was directly starting VDSM service cause we were
supporting also el6, now we rely just on systemd for that but probably
something should fixed on that side.

That patch has been merged:

The patch is on the engine side, not on the host.
Did you also updated ovirt-engine on the engine VM?
