Please check [1] to try and debug the ui exception.
Please also check/share engine logs in /var/log/ovirt-engine.

Thanks.

[ovirt-users] Will not communicate with VCenter

2016-06-21 Thread JC Clark
I am trying to establish a VCenter as an External Provider. The when I
try to "Test" the connection, the ovirt error message says that I have
"failed to communicate".

The Vcenter logs clearly shows the logging in and logging out of the
ovirt administrator to the vCenter instance.

And the final error message says:

Jun 22, 2016 9:49:06 AM

Provider VMWare was updated. (User: admin@internal)

Jun 22, 2016 9:47:01 AM

Failed to retrieve VMs information from external server
vpx://vcenter.mcsaipan.net/MCS1/vmware.mcsaipan.net?no_verify=1

I am using oVirt 3.6.6
Vcenter Server Appliance
no Cluster

Uncaught exception occurred. Please tryreloading
the page. Details: Exception
caught: Exception caught: (TypeError) __gwt$exception: : Cannot
read property 'f' of null

Please have your administrator check the UI logs

This guy pops up when I try to connect.

Anyway just looking for a clue. Any suggestions are welcome.

Thanks

Re: [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine - Storage Domain registration

2016-06-21 Thread Anantha Raghava

Hi,

I was able to map the hosted_storage to default DC. This appeared & got
attached after I mapped another NFS Share as Master Data Domain. Even
the HostedEngine VM appeared under Virtual Machines Tab and status was
set to up.

I could install ovirt guest agent and got all other information reported
from agent service.

But I noticed that although I have installed CentOS 7.2 in Hosted
Engine, VM reports it is a Desktop and not a Server. I attempted to
change these values and also the Clock off set, but received error as
locked parameters cannot be changed etc. Does the Hosted Engine really
use a Desktop Profile? Can't we change it?

Thanks & Regards,

Anantha Raghava

Hi,

I was able to install Hosted Engine on CentOS 7.2 Host with NFS
Storage. I faced challenge in registering the NFS Storage Domain -
hosted_storage - on which the Hosted Engine VM was created. When I
attempt to attach the hosted_storage to Data Center, the process fails
and it could not register. Hosted_Engine_Host is registered and is up
& running, but data center is down resulting in the infrastructure
going down.

Another question is, if this storage is not registered in domain, how
would engine vm migrate in case of host failure?

Can some one guide me on this?

Any chance you can open a bug about this and attach all the logs you can
get from this host before reinstalling it? Thanks!

This is the output of the commands:

You don't have to run it, I've just send it for a future reference :)
But if you for example want to add SuperUser permissions to user
'julian', you can run:

  /usr/share/ovirt-engine/bin/ovirt-engine-role.sh --command=add
--principal-id='c01c263a-78c5-4524-a94e-c9aa38141ea9' --role=SuperUser
--user-name=julian --authz-name=internal-authz --principal-namespace=*

And you don't need admin@internal-authz user.

Ok, according to current status I would suggest you to:

 1) remove admin@internal-authz (7f300f43-9972-4c0e-bfa9-e86df6f1659f)
  $ su - postgres -c "psql -t engine -c \"delete from users where
user_id='7f300f43-9972-4c0e-bfa9-e86df6f1659f';\""

  2) rename admin@internal to admin@internal-authz
  $ su - postgres -c "psql -t engine -c \"UPDATE users set
domain='internal-authz'  where
user_id='fdfc627c-d875-11e0-90f0-83df133b58cc;\""

Then restart ovirt-engine and try to login.

The problem here is that it tries to login with admin user which don't
have any permissions, and
you have two admin users, because you have removed internal-*properties
files, so it added

another one.

Re: [ovirt-users] Setup new enviroment

2016-06-21 Thread Fernando Frediani
Then you still have this option and spreading the VMs across 3 hosts I
believe you will have the same space to handle things plus the
redundancy a cluster gives.
If you don't want to waste any disk space you may still use Distributed
storage but with no redundancy (Striped Volumes). The downside is that
you cannot turn off any of the servers without turning off all VMs.
Or maybe if you can compromise on it you can have a middle term which is
Disperse Volumes.

more with each 6 Gb of ram and 100Gb of storage. And I need a DEV, QUA and PRD
enviroment. So I would like to keep as much as disk spacecas posible.

Kind regards

Hello all,

I was just wondering what your opinions would be in setting up a new oVirt
enviroment.

I have 4 old servers, 3 with 64 Gigs of ram and 2 tera's of disk space an one
with 32 Gigs of ram and 1,2 Gb. Each has 2 hexcore cpu's. Each server has at
least 2 nic's.

I would like to use each server in a seperate cluster with there own local
storage as this would all only be used as a test enviroment but still would
like to manage them from one interface. Deploy new vm's from templates etc.

Can I still use the all in one installation for engine and node ? Or can I
install the engine on a seperate host, physical or virtual.

What would be a good way to use the network ?

Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: [ovirt-users] Hosted Engine Spamming Transition E-Mails

2016-06-21 Thread Charles Tassell

Hi Didi,

Okay, I looked at the logs as you suggested and found one of the
hosts was showing that it couldn't connect to the local VDSM. I
restarted the host and then tried running VDSM through the console so
that I could see the debugging output, and it crashed my storage domain
taking down all the VMs in the cluster. So that wasn't good... ;-)

I'm going to leave that host down and reinstall it. I think the
issue was that when I originally installed it there was a problem with
attaching to the FC storage. I rebooted it and it seemed to be working
fine, joined the cluster et all, but when I ran VDSM manually it looked
like it wanted to reinitialize the storage or something.

Hi Folks,

First I get the "EngineUnexpectedlyDown-EngineDown", then
"EngineDown-EngineStart" then "EngineStart-EngineStarting" I checked the
hosted engine VM and it's been up for 16 days and the system looks to be
running fine, so I'm wondering what's going on.

And when I say spamming, I mean I'm getting 200+ E-Mails a day. It seems
to trigger every 20 minutes or so with about 2 minutes between each of the 3
messages in the set.

Please check/share /var/log/ovirt-hosted-engine-ha/agent.log on your hosts.

Thanks,

[ovirt-users] Hosted Engine - Storage Domain registration

2016-06-21 Thread Anantha Raghava

Hi,

I was able to install Hosted Engine on CentOS 7.2 Host with NFS Storage.
I faced challenge in registering the NFS Storage Domain - hosted_storage
- on which the Hosted Engine VM was created. When I attempt to attach
the hosted_storage to Data Center, the process fails and it could not
register. Hosted_Engine_Host is registered and is up & running, but data
center is down resulting in the infrastructure going down.

Another question is, if this storage is not registered in domain, how
would engine vm migrate in case of host failure?

Can some one guide me on this?

Thanks & Regards,

Anantha Raghava

I've just remembered, that there is bash script for it:

 /usr/share/ovirt-engine/bin/ovirt-engine-role.sh

You can use it as follows:

 /usr/share/ovirt-engine/bin/ovirt-engine-role.sh --command=add
--user-name=admin --authz-name=internal-authz --role=SuperUser

But, as per your output above, obviously your problem is not missing
permissions.
I think the problem is that you removed internal*.properties files and
then re-add it.

Can you please send output of users table and permissions table. Thanks.

 su - postgres -c "psql -t engine -c \"select * from users;\""
 su - postgres -c "psql -t engine -c \"select * from permissions;\""

Can I still use the all in one installation for engine and node ? Or can I

What would be a good way to use the network ?

Re: [ovirt-users] Is oVirt 3.6 with GlusterFS 3.7 recommended for production usage?

2016-06-21 Thread Sahina Bose
Make sure that you use replica 3 gluster volumes for storing VM images.
Are you planning to deploy as a hyperconverged setup?
Either way, try and use the latest ovirt 3.6 and glusterfs 3.7 (3.7.12
that addresses bugs related to sharding and o-direct is due to be
released soon)

Please try the https://people.redhat.com/~rjones/libguestfs-RHEL-7.3-preview/
 repository and
upgrade the virt-v2v version to 1.32 which will bring the support for higher
Windows versions

Yes, it's disabled in RHEL/CentOS. You can use virt-v2v from Fedora.

Re: [ovirt-users] Setup new enviroment

2016-06-21 Thread Marcin Michta

Hi Andy,

You can manage them from one web interface. Just deploy one
hosted-engine VM on one of them. Add others servers to the default
cluster and then switch them to use local storage (Configure Local
Storage). After that each nodes will move to separate cluster, and
you can manage all off them from one web interface.
I hope it will be helpful

  Hello all,

I was just wondering what your opinions would be in setting up a new oVirt enviroment.

I have 4 old servers, 3 with 64 Gigs of ram and 2 tera's of disk space an one with 32 Gigs of ram and 1,2 Gb. Each has 2 hexcore cpu's. Each server has at least 2 nic's.

I would like to use each server in a seperate cluster with there own local storage as this would all only be used as a test enviroment but still would like to manage them from one interface. Deploy new vm's from templates etc.

Can I still use the all in one installation for engine and node ? Or can I install the engine on a seperate host, physical or virtual.

What would be a good way to use the network ?

Any advice would be greatly appriciated. Thanks in advance.
